and things are getting worse instead of better

if you sit back and look at all the things going on
things look real bad
i personally want to see the outcome of society's greediness
it aint going to be pretty

watch the news everynight and all you see and hear
is murder,sex,drugs,more violence,death

when you do hear some good news its rare and irrelevant
four people kiiled in iraq by roadside bomb
serail killer gets caught after carjack
fireman saves baby cat from a tree
hit and run driver kills two

would you rather be an innocent victim
or a guilty survivalist

Just something I need to say. I'm sure you're cool and all friendowl, but honestly, you represent yourself more as the problem, and less as the solution to all the above issues. Just building yourself up or are you serious?

And lastly, the good news is never irrelevant.

Yeah I know what you mean, I think the exact same way about the outcome. I really wonder how it's gonna be or if this madness is gonna stop or slow down. It really is sad and it almost restricts me from goin to unfamiliar places cuz I dont wanna be a victim of some bull shit.

There is actually a concept in chemistry called Entropy. Entropy is the measure of disorder in the universe (it's a lot more complicated to explain, but the aforementioned is just a basic synopsis.)

Basically, as time increases (or passes) entropy increases. Everything initially starts out new, such as a new car, but after you buy the car and start driving it, it slowly starts to break down and wear apart. This concept can be applied to anything (almost) and it makes sense. In chemistry, the only substance that is not disorderly, is a perfect crystal at absolute zero. Kinda cool =)

And lastly, the good news is never irrelevant.

I agree, but it is very rarely reported.

Have a good one!

Bad news is what sells. It speaks to our society. We're not interested in the cat being saved from the tree. We'd rather hear about the 11 people shot in a nightclub, the lady who burned her husband with cooking oil, the dude that carjacks a semi. Television stations need ratings, the bad news gets the ratings.

I don't think the world is bad, it's simply what we hear or what we're exposed to. There a bad people that create horrifc situations, but it doesn't speak to all of mankind. I've long felt that life is what you make it. When I did dirt, my life was filled with other dirt. Now I try to do the right things, and I'm stressed, but a majority of the experiences I have now are positive. You get out of it what you put into it. It's not always balanced like that, but for the most part, it works out.

I've always thought the media was biased and more of a tool than a source. Many good things happen, many random acts of kindness...but there's never a news camera around. Maybe if the media did better at covering some of the positive aspects of life, it would restores peoples faith in their fellow man and they would follow.

But I'll die as, simply, Chris. I tried...I made some mistakes along the way, I'm trying to do the right thing now and in the future, and I try to put into life the things I want back out of it. Whatever happens, happens...I'm just going to enjoy the ride as much as possible.

why would a "survivor" need feel guilt? especially because of the actions, or, non actions, of others?

cant i be an innocent guilt free survivor?

The world is indeed a messed up, and often awful place. But once you recognize and understand this, you can stop letting the flow of external society be the driving force of your life, and find your own identity and even one-person culture.

i think once in the 1920's for about ten minutes there wasnt any wars at all going on around the world. my point it always has and and always will be this way. fuck the news, dont watch it

Big Calhoun

The solution is not to not watch the news, but vary your watching of the news. When I get home, I watch a FOX local broadcast, a CBS national broadcast, and then a NBC local broadcast. This is supplemented by reading the paper, reading sites like MSNBC, BBC, CNN, and listening to broadcasts from sources like NPR or on shortwave radio.

The objective is to get unfiltered news on the things that matter.

It;s a crooked piece of time that we live in
a crooked piece of time
all and all and all and all
it's a crooked piece of time

Things got rough
things got tough
things got harder than hard
i'm just tryin to make a livin
in my backyard

We're born too late
we die too soon
agony is a terrible crime
all in all in all and all
it's a crooked piece of time;)

We had a thing going on a while ago with the local, city news. On the news, it is nothing but bad news, so for one day a week, this news station decided to report nothing but positive news.

To say the least, it all lasted 2 weeks, 2 whole good news session, and they stopped, due to bad ratings.

I don't watch the news or read the paper anymore. It's too negative and sad. Everyday someone gets stabbed here, or someone gets raped, car crashes like crazy...nothing good!

i think whats more upsetting than the news is that so many people dont care. if there was less apathy then maybe more people would try to work for change and for a better world.

The Worlds never been safer, just because you are bombarded with CNN or other fabricated, sensationalised shit night after night dosen't at all mean that the World , as a whole, is a bad place, this speaks mainly for the US, I don't live there, thank fuck, don't get me wrong, its the greatest place in the World for attractions, glitz, glamour, hollywood, and there are amazing people, just like everywhere else, but your media is intent on fueling the multinationals and your soclialistic government by filtering, exagurating, plagerising all the current events, this isn't just about foreign affairs, its corruption of a democracy in its purest form and thats what scares the living shit out of me, not 'I hope I don't get stabbed walking to my car'. Its unfortunate that a country that is so maternally tied to defending itself, and saving everyone else, because America is the saviour of mother earth right ? is currently the most conflicted, twisted, oppressed nation on earth. It really comes down to this, Capitalism, just like the old British Empire, soul sovernity of all and all is the motivation behind the US. Depression is the price 'the people pay' for your governments foul play.

I kind of drifted of point there but it sounded cool so I'll leave it in.

fuck the news
im talking some real shit
the lil things that fuck up this place

think about all the thousands and thousands
of children that are born and not raised properly
that grow up to be adults
these people have no consideration for another

all im saying really is that the mentallity of people now a days
is getting more savage
before you could just shoot or shank a fool and thats that
now people are getting gruesome

what about those soldiers in iraq that raped that girl and
than killed her family in front of her then killed her and burned her

you got young kids sighning up just so they can kill
they straight out say they want to kill anybody
what about when they come home with that attitude

for this reason you will always see a lil bulge in my waistband
better to be judged by 12
than carried by 6

People will always kill people man, the best thing anyone can do, is hold their morals and principals close to their heart and teach them to their kids. You can only ever be accountable to yourself, being a rightous person, you carry the torch for mankind. The people you see all the time, their fucked, and it all evens out in the end.
