alright, this is my first grow setup and i'm making use of a cabinet with dimensions 36" height, 24" wide, and 18" depth to grow one plant (early misty or white widow strain). Area has already been enclosed, walls/ceiling/floor covered with white pylar, and now I just need a system. I found this one online and I am wondering if it would fit my cabinet conditions well/provide good growth for a hydroponic grow???

any tips are awesome

No...Your cabinet is not tall enough. That is a nice system, but, the picture you see is 3 feet tall, just about...and that would be about 3-4 weeks into veg for MJ...Oh, and you would want the red bulb for flowering, not blue, which is for veg...Best to have both.

here is some good advice...you evidently don't have experience, so LST or other efforts to make your plant fit that small space would be tedious at best!

figure out what system you want, then design a cabinet/closet to fulfill your needs. peace

The water farm is a very good single plant system, easy to manage, and produces good plants. The problem i see is:The 1 i have growing at this point is 37" from the bottom of the pot to the very tip of the top leaf.So i would say that you would not have enough height to use it sucessfully.
The system itself is 15 3/8" tall without plant.

If you are going to use an air cooled HPS light, you will need atleast 12" from the top of the cabinet,to the top of the fully matured plant.A CFL you would need a little less

So what ever system you use will have to be as slimline or low as possible.

Hope this helps
Peace

thanks for the tips, guys, the cabinet is actually one i made, and i adjusted it a little. the max. height is probably a good 40". also i think this better suits my situation(links below.) what do you think....if i started flowering a little early (and they are white widow so they only grow to about 30-35 inches) could i manage this project w/ a decent yield?

system: http://www.ecogrow.com/index.cfm/product/944/mid/13/nid/0/home.html

lighting: the light used in my 1st link, w/ both red and blue bulb 125 watts each (switch for flowering)

looking good? again any suggestions are awesome guys, i'll be sure to have a grow log of this one if i can get the setup down.

If the plant is 35" and the hydrofarm system is 16" well that = 51"... then you have a light...better refigure again

thanks for the advice, ya i want to have my first plant be a success w/ a good yield so i'm gona make the cabinet a good 52" tall, with width and depth being 28" each. white widow grows from 28-31 inches usually, setup is 12" , and light is only 6". So if my plant happens to grow to it's largest average height (w/o a slight early flowering) that adds up to 49". That is if the plant grows a little larger than usual. So I think I'm alright as far as setup now.

i'm just wondering, the lights in the link are only 125w, but they say they're good for all indoor plants, and so did the guy above. is this alright for 1 plant?

or should i aim for a good 200-400w? lumens look good but I'm still not sure...

also can anyone tell me about LST? any answers are wonderful guys

Something that hasn't been addressed here is ventilation for your cabinets. If you are going to have them closed you have to use a fan system to bring in good air and pull out bad air.

with that said...you trade power for heat and visa~versa
I think you will enjoy a grow with the lamp you have chosen. Those lamps produce heat, but not as much as a HID lamp/ballast assembly...So It will be easier for you to get in a good healthy grow, because hermies happen most, due to heat, imo, and that is bound to happen to some degree, anyway. When you decide to go the extra mile for a "killer ventillation system and go to a 400watt, you can use the cfl that you get now for your veg box. That lamp does a "Killer" job for vegging. :smokin: hope this helps...I await your reply. cannot wait to see your boxes. peace lw
