So as you can see I have the bottom 3rdish of the cabinet for the main growing chamber. Its gonna be a scrog setup and the light can go up another 10 inches so it should be a good fit. Not sure if im gonna go with 4 or 6 plants yet, but I think im leaning towards 4. If it matters its an aero-machine type system with a 400watt HPS lamp. I imagine i'll use the middle for all the electronical connections as well as supplies. The top I am hoping to use for a cloning chamber, but I dont think its gonna be big enough to veg em until the flowering plants are out...

Anyway the whole point of this is I want to know what you guys think the best way to setup the vent system since its a 3 section cabinet. I think a cooltube type deal is a given, but im not sure how to route the rest (please be sure to note there will be a carbon scrubber used on the exhaust!).

Also im wondering what the best way to drain the res on this setup is gonna be since the plants will be tied into a screen... is my best bet to use a cheap inline pump to pump fluid out into a bucket (and vice versa to fill it)?

Most important thing is to have a flow of air going through. So youll want a fan blowing in fresh air at the bottom, and a fan sucking out hot air at the top opposite side. The cool tube will remove hot air, but radiant heat will still heat your plants. you really have to play around with fan powers until they can handle the heat ur cabinet creates. Intake holes must be big enough to supply ample air flow, so having more sucking out and creating suction isnt all that great, as there will be less air coming through the intake.

I am aware of that, but I am trying to figure out how to get the most of the a vent system... since there are 3 seperate chambers it makes it a tad more complicated but may also give more options... for example I could use the cooltube setup to keep most of the light heat out. Then have a passive intake on the very bottom (setup to keep light and hopefully smell from leaking out) and then a fan to pull air from the bottom chamber up into the middle and top chamber, then have the final exhaust fan with carbon scrubber in the very top chamber. I guess where I am getting confused is how to handle moving the air through 3 chambers optimally.

I think I would use a couple nice 150w cfls on the second shelf for the clones, then cut small slats in the second shelf and have a small fan attached to the top of the cab, to extract the air out.(like a bathroom fan) If you really wanna go crazy you can pipe the two exhaust together with a Y connector and the pipe it out of your grow space.
