What would yield better?

a scrog in a 2x3ft with 6 plants and a 400w hps

or a

5x5 ft area 6 plants with a 1000w hps


If both were given their ideal grow situations, temp, nutes, etc.

id say the larger room / light wattage, i havnt scrogged b4 but it just makes sense to me..

Come on h3o,

Do the math 1000 divided by 400 equals 2.5 meaning that your yeild would almost be doubled the 400 watter. Even with the two extra plants the 1000 watter will put a bigger smile on your face when it came time to weigh your yeild. There will be other factors to consider in your setup but the 1000 is always perfered.

It has it's advantages as well as disadvantages.I'd say the 1000 watter is the 1 to go with if you put alot of effort in the venting of the hood.It would greatly increase the yeild! I have a 1000 watter! It's just too much for my space!But,next grow? It's the one I'll use with a light rail. My area is larger than yours.I just chose the 2 400's,because of the size fan or fans I would have to use.They would have to run continuous.Now they are only on for a total of 6 out of 12 hours with a timer to come on every 30 mins.

I have come to the same conclusion. A single 1000w is a real pain in the ass.
2- 400w is more flexible. That's what I use.


H30, You're going to get more yield with more watts. Number of plants is not important. With patience, you can scrog just a couple plants into a very large area. Or you can grow a whole bunch of little plants. It's your choice; yield depends on LIGHT.

Props!~ To ya Ole Stinky 1 !!!!!! I do have enough space! It's the fan is what will cost ya! I got a fan that was bout 260.00.It's only 465 cfm.But Damn! It'll cave the walls in! It's a hurricane inline type blower! Powerful! Due to the design,not cfm's.I run all my fans on the draw!All but the 1 that is oscilatting and blowing the air that is pulled in through a 4 inch flex line.I just taped it to the back of it,and it blows fresh,cool outside air into the room.It runs 12 hours.The fan blows it around.It is low to the floor of the room.Everytime the fan comes on fresh air is pulled in.

I would go with the screen. These are not usually done correctly, and difficult to master, but when they are, I think the screen would produce more. When done correctly there will be a solid carpet of colas in a scrog. The colas are smaller because there are many more per plant, but overall yield is greatly increased. More weed for less electricity.
