ok my white widows are about 6 weeks into flowering and looking nice, unfortuantly the smallest of them (14" tall) has gone all hermie on me. The other 3 r fine as i have just checked them as well as i can and cant see any hermie action. I only just noticed this and decided to act now and i took a scalpel and carefully cut the hermie bits out of the buds- and i flushed it too. There were at least 10 of the little shits i found and i probs missed a couple.... anyway...
what should i do? cut the runt early? and leave the others alone?
here is a pic of the offending plant and i have circled the damn hermie bit. Would u cut it or let it go and risk seed mania???
oh yeah they were from feminised seeds, yeah, yeah i know: not going the fem route again.
anyway please let me know your thoughts!
cheers!
oh arse computer being weird will have to give up on photo...

wtf is that thing you circled?
I'm not expert by any means but i dont think the male part will grow out of the buds...
Sorry if i'm wrong...

Well take the male parts away because that hermie seems more on the female side than males and you might still be lucky :).

i thought that a hermie was when a plant grows buds and pollen sacs. Am i wrong?
Please correct me if i'm mistaken.

That ain't no fucken hermie, Holmes.
Ever seen one?
Why not search for a pic at this site?
Herms happen early on in the budding process. And you don't need a magnifying lens to see the male ball sacks.

I seen a hermie that looked similar to this guys didnt see any sacs but the author of the book claimed the plant was a hermie and it looked exactly like this guys so it's possible it is.

Yep, you can get male pollen sacs growing out of the bud, and they do look like bananas. What are the trichs like? If they were mainly cloudy, Id chop it OUTSIDE and leave it to dry OUTSIDE/IN THE SHED to prevent and pollen contaminating the rest of the plants. Seeing as its harvested early, you could always cook with it because when you eat Herb its about 2 to 3 times stronger than when smoking it, and the high lasts a few hours more aswell.
I say cook the bitch.

You can pinch the banana off by hand or use sharp scissors just try not to pop the sack.
It looks fine other then that.
all my experience with late term hermies, they usually get their organs deep inside a bud, or on new growth on underdeveloped buds and the pollen doesnt spread far, it stayed trapped in a bud for me, you just end up with 4-5 seeds in that specific area. it's got 2-4 weeks left, I'd sit on it till you see seed pods forming. 2 of my 4 female plants from the last grow went hermie late in life and only seeded themselves, got like 40 good seeds out of the two plants, and plenty of bud so I would only worry if you actually can see/find the pollen sacs, cause I didnt find mine until I scissored the buds apart.

cool cheers for help guys. I got as many as the bananas as i could and i will keep a close eye on the little shit from now on! 4x5: i agree im probs going to get one seeded plant and 3 mostly without so its not too much of a prob. seeds r useless though as they will be hermie too: baa.
as for the buds they are awesome. One plant is so covered in crystal im sure it glows in the dark! lol

I would chop it if I were you, unless u think that the male saks opened up already. I had a hermie in my last grow and I kept it just cause I was being greedy. I tried to pick off evey male sak I could find but you cant get them all and my whole crop had seeds... The buds were good but not as good if I wouldve killed the hermie!!! Just giving my:twocents:
Looking for Quality or Quantity? Make your choice
