I miss my cat.
One time i caught her sleeping/chilling on a couch so I went up to her.

me: sup?
cat: (opens eyes) ...
me: nothing much eh..?
cat: ...
me: wanna play with the string!
cat: ...
me: hmm...
cat: ....
me: ya hungry?
cat: (eyes widen) meow!
me: well lets go eat then!
cat: me-oowwww *as she runs to her food bowl waiting for me to fill it up with cat food*

lol cute bastard..

another one:

I crumble a piece of paper up into a ball and let it fall to the ground. But then I realized I needed it so I tried to reach it but it went far under my bed next to my cat.
"yo, can you pass me that?" as I let out my hand.
She hit the paper ball to my hand and I caught it. I totally did not expect her to do that since shes just a cat and might not understand what I was saying.
All I could really say was:
"...thank you!(?)"

Another:

me: "hey!"
cat: "rrey"
holy shit did my cat literally try to say 'hey' in her cat accent?

another:

My cat was sleeping but it looked like she was having a horrible nightmare. She was twitching and her teeth was gritting like she was really struggling. I called out her name until she woke up. She was so scared that she kept meowing with fear and so I let her sleep on my bed next to me as I pet her to keep her calm. I told her she just had a bad dream.. a nightmare. Dunno if she understood or not, but she understands lots of things when you least expect it.

another:

It was late at night and I wanted a midnight snack or something. So I got something and let the fridge close by itself. But just before it did.. my cat jumped inside the fridge and the door shut tight and I never knew!!!
My dad an HOUR later came by for his midnight snack or whatever and to his surprise, my cat JUMPED THE FUCK OUTTA THERE AND RAN THE FUCK AWAY!
All my dad ever said about that was: "Jesus.. I never saw a cat so pissed off before in my entire life.."
I'm so glad it wasn't the freezer...

Another:

I was 12 years old and ran to an empty room to cry. My cat happened to be next to me and what I noticed was that as she looked into my teary eyes and noticed what was going on, her pupils very slowly began to widen as if she was understanding me. She stuck out her hand and let me hold it softly.

and last:

My family is talking about Jesus cause we think he's funny. My cat is somewhat listening but sleeping next to us. So for the hell of it, I looked to my cat

me: "yo!"
cat: *wakes up and turns head to look at me*
me: "Do you believe in Jesus??"
cat: ".............................." *turns back and goes back to sleep*
the whole family cracked up.
LOL!!!
fun times.

My orange tabby has become the best friend and devoted companion to my sister, who lives with us and is sick with cancer. He goes into her room in the afternoons and lies down beside her and reaches out and puts one paw on her face. I think he does it to show his support and let her know she's not alone.

One of my cats likes to chase a flashlight. In fact, if I shine it on our cathedral-styled ceiling in our living room, she will attempt to jump great distances to get it, and of course fail every time. It's hilarious!

That IS hilarious when they do that. We had one that did that once, and she could stay entertained for hours chasing a flashlight. Got the craziest expression on her face as she did it.

Maybe I should send a video of that to AFV's or somethin, lol

It is terribly sweet. It made me cry the first time I saw him do it. Now we make sure he's in there with her as much as possible because he really is a tremendous comfort to her. Cats are the best. And it breaks my heart how some people treat them. There are a lot of folks on this earth who don't deserve pets.

That reminds, me, there's been a playful orange tabby coming into my yard recently. It doesn't seem like a stray or anything (it acts way too domesticated, its not scared at all to let me pet it). I think it may beling to a neighbor. One night when it rained though it did sleep up on our porch. I wanted so bad to let it inside our house too lol. Either way, it kind of brought some enjoyment for me in the past few weeks.

Let it come inside!!!! That's actually how I got this orange tabby of mine. It belonged to our neighbors. They found him as a kitten outside their business and brought him home and put him out to live in the bushes. Then they proceeded not to take care of him. Never vaccinated him. Never neutered him. And every night, he was getting beaten up badly by other neighborhood cats.

I went over and suggested perhaps that I'd take him to my vet and get him his shots. They said "Sure." Then I went a couple of weeks later and suggested I take him for neutering so he wouldn't prowl as much and get beaten up so badly. They said "Sure." They'd drive off the work in the mornings and I'd wave at them from our back patio as I was holding and petting their cat. Pretty soon it dawned on me whose cat he really was. I opened up the back door and let him in and have never looked back. He needed to come live with someone who really loved and would take care of him!

He just came in here and flopped down at my feet as I'm typing this. He's snoring.

aw, that's sweet!

If we didn't already have four cats I would consider it. My dad wouldn't like it too well.

A few days after I had my cat, we were alone in my room.

Janie: I'm a smoker.
Chris: I used to call my cigarettes NeilPeart's, instead of Newports, so I'll call you "Neilpearta".
Janie: My first name is the same as Jimi's sister.
Chris: So, from now on, I'll call you Janie Neilpearta.
Janie: Meow.

~noises of me and my 'cousin' playing in the room~
cat: hiss
me: <cousin> get outta here...
~sounds of <cousin> gettin out~
cat: hissing like crazy
~cat jumps on my back/head and starts horrendously clawing me~
me: screaming/crying
grandma: ~incoherent panic-freaking out~
grandpa: what's wrong?
grandma: go get the car started we gotta get <me> to the hospital.
~goes to the hospital~

yea i wound up gettin over a 100 stitches, a permanant raised line on my right ear going straight down the middle of it, and lost a chunk out of the other, at 5 years old, bleeding far too badly to administer any kind of pain medication because i would bleed it out almost instantaneously anyways, mind you.

how's that for a kitty story?

my cat hates me reading whenever I start reading she comes up and lays on my reading material but shes so cute so i pull the book from under her and pet her while reading. she sleeps in my parents room on my mom's stomach or the foot of my bed in my room. My other cat always goes inside the fridge whenever someone opens it (he can't really go in it its too full) but you have to close the door on him before he'll move. )

Cats are amazing and tend to understand alot more then people give them credit for and are really good manipulators

My cat QT does the same thing! He was named QT because he would get into(open the cabinet door) and the box of qtips and we would find U shaped chewed up qtips all over the house. And I have a three legged cat named BoBo Magee that actually tries to attack the pit bull that lives next door. Needless to say my new screen door isn't going to last through the summer.:stoned: I Love Cats!!

Yankeesgirl, you may already have done this, but the best cure I know of for a departed pet is a new animal. There are tons of them out there who need good homes! Wish you lived near me. I know a really sweet one that needs a good home and is currently lounging around on my back porch.

my favorite cat ever had to be put down today. he liked to sit in the hay field behind my house back home and chase whatever ran through there and he must have been sitting out there today and the hay cutter got him. my mom took him to the vet but it fucked up both legs on one side so he could no longer walk if he was going to live. i've been kind of down all night about it. i loved that cat. i trained him to jump into my arms standing up and he would always hang out on the deck and just wait for someone to come out and pet him. sucks when pets die. hope this wasn't too much of a downer on the thread. lol.

the cat i have now at my house is a trip. she's a former stray and my roomate found her with her ribs all kicked in and malnutritioned. she refuses to sit on laps but loves having her chin scratched. anyone know of any good ways to train a cat to like sitting on laps?

Cats are good beings.

I got some medicine at the vet today for my porch-hangaround cat, who really belongs to my neighbors but is completely neglected by them. Put ear mite medicine in its ears and then put Revolution flea drops on its back. Then I trimmed its nails and cleaned its ears gently with hydrogen peroxide (the vet recommended this). Then I tried to wash the cat in our sink, which wasn't easy. Now it's all clean and sweet and bug-free and can come in my house.

I can't stand sitting by while my neighbors ignore the kitty anymore. It's coming to live inside with me and my family and our other pets.

one of my cats would disapear for days we take care of our pets but he's an attention whore it turns out he did the same thing to our neighbors that he did to us where he'd just walk inside the house while the front door is open. we knew he was getting fed cuz he'd come back fatter.

thats so nice! our third cat in my direct family came to us that way, except she was shot with a pellet or bb gun by one of the neighborhood hoodlums, and we paid the vet bill. i also have done this for a few cats, but havnt kept the cats, found them a nice home after all shots and fixxed. do you have other cats? if so, take porch-cat :D to the vet, might be FHIV/or feline lukimiea(even if just the carrier) and i would hate to see your other cats fall ill. you might have already done this, or thought of.

lol, my cat khan trys to bat at my herb all the time! he also waps it with his tail (sometimes on accident :D ) when he sits on my lap. when he does it intentionally, he's usually mad, jealous of the other cats, or hungry.

a saw my cat "mikey" (15lbs) chase a intruding, full grown jack russel terrior out of my house one time....I quickly grabbed by lowryder dachshund off the ground because my cat was in the mod and went after him too.

My poor dog had numerous scars from my cat attacking him.....my poor cat used to be chased by big gogs sometimes....luckily there were trees nearby and my cat was not declawed

my cat's coat is stretchy because it nearly hanged to the floor.. it made him look heavier than he is.

my dog was much smaller yet they both weighed the same

my cat was found dead under my bed one day..... I think he died of old age...he was about 14 years old...

I found him as a stray when I was in the second grade...

turns out he was a pure bred "persian meow"

Hey, Wake!
The vet took blood for those tests when we were there, and we find out tomorrow morning what they said. He thinks we're probably safe from both FELV and FHIV because the neighbor this kitty really belongs to brought him home a year ago this summer, and he'd come from a shelter with his paperwork. She brought it over to ask what some of the medical stuff meant. Anyway, he was negative for those bugs a year ago and had been vaccinated before the shelter gave him up. I guess he was declawed by whoever had him before he ended up in the shelter.

Yes, I definitely have other pets. I have two small dogs (Chihuahuas) and two official in-residence cats, Buddy, who's a lilac-point Siamese, and Orange Julius, who's a fat, relaxed orange tabby. They're clean of viruses and all up-to-date on their vaccinations. My animals already know and love this new kitty. He plays with these guys in the back yard, and is especially close to the dogs. OJ, who goes in and out, knows new kitty (Tiger is his name from my neighbor) very well. Buddy, who is completely an indoor kitty, knows him from looking at him through the window and occasional nose-greetings when the door opens.

Sorry to go on so long about my babies . . . . I love them. I love my son, too, but he's so big now that he doesn't need babying, so I'm enjoying a second motherhood with four animals that are all about the size of an actual human baby!

Growing up I've had plenty of cats and dogs that were all rescued. My favorite is Bob, not quite sure what breed he is but we say his name stands for 'Big Ol' Boy'. We found him accidentally while looking for a cat that ran away about 8 years ago. Bob pretty much can do anything he wants in the house... well, anything but go outside. We moved here from Oklahoma a few years ago, and when we lived there he couldn't go outside because of all of the mean dogs. Anyways, I've had plenty of long conversations with Bob, most about food. My other favorite cat is Leroy, he's very smart and talks a lot, but is only concerned with food... he likes salty stuff.

Heh, I didn't know I was going to type so long about my cats... but as you can see, my animals are a huge part of my life.
