I've been trying to sprout seeds for about 5 days now and was wondering generally how long it takes to sprout seeds useing the papertowl method. Any advice or help would be nice thanks.:rasta:

depends how healthy the seeds were
ive had them sprout in 24 hours and some 3-4 days
i soak my seeds in a cup of luke warm water till they drop to the bottom, then pop them inbetween 2 moist paper towels in a ziplock and plop it ontop my pc screen

Oh one more thing, should they be in a lighted room or a dark one?

seal it
check on it everyday till majority of the taproot is out
It can take up to 14 days.
Normally its 2 -3 or less.
Make sure the towl isnt soaking, but just moist. Put it in a baggie and seal the baggie, then place it on something warm like a tv and just leave it and check it untill it has a taproot.

Place them in a DARK area. If one is not available, place a towel, or other object over the ziplock. To restrict light getting to your seeds.
Though if you are using the papertowel method: seeds inbetween a couple layers of wet paper towels. I would recommend putting them into a tupperware (leave tupperware open a little (allows air to get into container)) then place in a warm area (top of computer screen is good, and then place a towel over tupperware.
