Well it takes a long time to Re-VEG the plant after flowering it to see when its a male/female. Just be happy you got a female from the first seed and the first clone you ever did lived another day LOL. I hear it takes like almost 2 months for the plant to jump back into VeG. Well then those flowers you see are Pre-flowers :p , they should be there. Even when In Veg, around the 4th and 5th week, pre-flowers show up to let yoyu know its a female or male even if you didnt flower the plant. How how things are still doing good :p ...

yeah lol i never experienced preflowers before since i flowered my other one too early...but thats cool....yup things are still going good .. except i think i have a ph prob... so i threw some dolomite lime on top of the soil and then watered it good..doesnt look like anything major... just rather be safe then sorry

i dont know because these are the only seeds i have ever purchased... so im just hoping that they are good... i bought the super strong pack...it was at the time. ice,silver pearl, and crystal limit... and they threw in sweet tooth seeds for free.. .but now its ice, white widow, and crystal... so the strains seem good to me..

The only erason Nirvana seeds are cheap is because they make a lot more money that way. Most Seeds site that I have seen always have the Nirvana seeds as their top sellers. I also have seen many mind blowing plants/grows on a diff site which the growers used Nirvana seeds. Ok man, i just placed two germinated Haze x Skunk seeds into two 6" pots with foxfarm soil. Got the cfl's on top at close range. Timer set to 18/6. Im gonna see where this goes. This is my first try at growing with premium soil, nutes (GH 3 part) and seeds (guy TOLD me they were Haze x skunk, not really certain). I'll post photos if and when they do anything. :D

Heres a noob question, lets see if i can ask this correctly. When does the age of my plant start? Example, i put the germinated seeds in soil Sunday night, does that mean next Sunday they will be 1 week old? or does it start from the time they pop out of the dirt?

Actually, i gave them the 1 week recommended dose of the GH 3 part nutes on sunday, i guess they like it... they are doing great! As for the 1000 watter, i dont think i will be using it this round as i dont have the nessecery space and ventilation. I will go all CFL right now. I am supposed to be buying a pre-built shed/barn type thing, 10x16 big. I was going to make a grow area in there. Until then, its bathroom cabinets! Hahhaa

My babies are looking kinda weak now :( Im not sure what is wrong. They are drooping a little bit and dont seem to have grown any taller since last pics, only more leaves. Would the leaves droop like that from not enough water? I dont believe its heat because the room is a/c 'd and i have a small clip fan oscillating on them. Also i think it may be time to transplant now. As for the lights, i have 4 - 4ft tubes over them, each bulb rated at like 3050 lumens, and i have two 135w equivilent 6500k bulbs on the sides of the plants.

yup they will droop either when there is too much water or not enough.. i learned this when i went away for the weekend and left my clone in the 6 inch pot .. when i got back the soil was bone dry and she was wilting...but need not fret legion, underwatering is alot easier to bounce back from the over watering..

blah, yes they need to transplant. I see roots coming through the bottom holes. Notorious, i have some pots that are 10" across the top, is that what you meant by 10" pots? I also have some that are 15" across the top and 1ft deep, says 21 quarts on the side. Im not sure though if i'll have enough Fox Farm to fill those two pots and the hydro store is like 65 miles away. If i could use some other cheap alternative since the plants are already well established... but im afraid to use some cheap shit and burn them up or shock them really bad.

yes the ten inch across are the ones im talking about but the 15 inchers would be better.. it you diont have enough of the ff soil just go get some reg ole potting soil (no nutes) and mix em together to fill em up.. the more root development the more bud development..do you plan on topping or lsting?

Ok, well i did a little searching around... it seems that these pots that are 10" across top and like 9 inches tall are 3 gallon pots... it sure dont seem like it. If this is true, i have two of them. Here is one of them side by side my 6" pots. Yeah, i thought about trying LST, but not too sure how to get started with it.

just get yourself some string .. tie a slipknot in one end..(for easy removal) and slip that over about the 2nd node from the top.. drill a hole through the bucket and put the string through and pull gently untill the plant is almost horizontal..or you can do this gradually over time if it fells too delicate to strech all at once...

Delta- mix 1 tbsp of epsom salt with a gallon of water.. also if you add dolomite lime to you soil that'all help.. you can get it at any garden supply store..also thanx for the compliment...

Oh yeah, btw... i was able to transplant both plants into each their own 21 quart pot. They look like babies again in those huge pots :D I hope they pull through this because they were drooping before i transplanted (under watered i believe). When i took them out of the 6" pots, their roots were packed inside there. As of right now they are still droopy. Watered them with GH nutes according to week 2 on the feeding schedule.

I have my CFL's about an inch a the most away from the plants and seems like everytime i leave for awhile and come back, the lights are touching the leaves, This has actually caused burned leaves :( Do you know if the plants will be alright with the burns? Do they usually come out of that? Its crazy that the plants are growing that fast. Example, i left to go shopping today and was gone maybe 4 hours... when i got back one of my plants were touching the light! :(

legion - about ther cfl's maybe you should just move the lights up to about 3 inches above you plant tops.. im sure one burn wont hurt em too bad.. as long as it didnt get the new growth too bad.. and about the seeds.. i think im set for a while with seeds cuz i still have seeds from 3 other strains that i wanna try.. but im sure someone will take you up on that offer...ohh and yeah they do grow real fast as soon as they get their roots all set.. and if you think there growing fast now wait till u put em into flower.. they double to triple in size within the first couple of weeks...

The burns won't hurt the plant to much, it has happened in my last grow when I was using some CFL. My plant got burned 4 times in 1 week. I moved the light just about 4 inches away during the 2 burn time it burn during flowering and In the morning, I woke up and found them being burned alive again. But the plant will be Fine :thumbsup:, Keep Em Green ...

Yeah, thanks for the tips guys. I moved the lights a little higher. I also tied them both down. They seem pretty flexible so i tied them pretty much horizontal. The reason i asked if anyone wanted Haze x Skunk seeds is because from what i was told by the guy who gave them to me and from what i been reading, this strain is pretty potent. May sound crazy but i dont want a very strong strain. I want somthing like California Orange bud or other strains that are not so strong. I think i read somewhere Haze x Skunk is like 20-22% THC. Im really looking for a smoke that relieves anxiety and stress, really euphoric feeling, mild body stone but still functional. I want to try Strawberry Cough too but its too expensive for my budget right now.

I'm wondering if anyone would be able to let me know when i should start fertilizing my seedlings. Should i fertilize within the first few weeks, or wait until they are well established? I used a decent potting soil with good drainage, but did not add any other ammendments. I cheched the soil package and it seems pretty well rounded nutrient wise, and i've heard that that should cover the seedlings nut needs for the fist few weeks of growth. Is there any benefit to fertilize now, or would i risk burning the roots, etc?

So Notorious, i been meaning to ask you, how you have your lights positioned around your plant? An do you have any kind of ventilation? The temps in my space are like 90 degrees and im in a 6x14 closet leave the door open and have a fan blowing around. All i have is 4 - 42w cfls and 4 - 4ft 6500k tubes.

well my lights .. i kinda just made a stand out of some 2x4's and used shop clamps so the lights are kinda laying horizontally over the plants...
the clost im using is kind hidden away inside another closet.. so i have a 465 ( im pretty sure its 465) cfm fart fan sucking air out of the closet right into my crawl space and a passive intake towards the bottom of the crawl space.. and a 15 inch occilating desk fan movin air around in there.. then i just have a plywood door the covers up that little nook and no one would even know its there.. its pretty james bondish....

the money issue.. i just had to buy some other things.. my books for school this semester were about 550 and i had to buy a new set of rear speakers fer my car cuz they blew.. but soon i will pick up a 250 .. but cfls are ok with me for now as this is only personal...

well good news... i just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to geico. Nah j/k. Well, i was about to give up on the plants. So last night i was messing around and was thinking.. everytime i use that moisture meter it tells me the soil is moist or wet. So i decided to test it manually. Sure enough i stuck my fingers down in the soil a good 6 inches and the soil felt dry! So i took both plants, placed them in the shower and gave each one 1 gallon of water with 1/4 teaspoon of superthrive each (maybe too much?) But when i get home from work tonight.. BAM! The plants are perked up and reaching for the light again. And i see new growths. Although, i did notice a slight yellowing of the very bottom leaves and very faint yellow patches on some of the upper leaves. Maybe from the superthrive? But other than that, they seemed to love the watering i gave them.

Thanks for the tip Invision. I did lift the pot to see if it was light before watering but actually it was still sorta heavy. I think maybe thats just because im using such large pots? But anyway, they do look 100X better since i watered them. Just thismorning when lights came on, leaves are nice a straight and reaching for light. And they have grown about another 2 inches.

lol i have a 8in pot and pour the whole gallon in her and litterly 2 days later she is bone dry sometimes i have to water her one night then the next to get 4 days out of her it sucks cause i cant go anywhere far for a few day or i worry :(

Another thing i changed, I had my pots sitting on a flat surface... i was thinking maybe i should raise them up to allow air flow to the drainage holes on the bottom. I'll see if it did any good. Now im just trying to figure out what i should tie down on her next. Also Notorious, how old was your plant when you took a cutting? Mine will be three weeks old on Monday. Here is a side-by-side photo of the same plant... pics are three days apart. Notice the position of the pink string in relation to each other? Its grown some. The area in the red square indicates the new growths that are shooting out of the side.

i dont know about the leaf shine stuff but just cut a 2 liter bottle of soda in half and leave the cap on and boom you got a home made humidity dome.. remember to cut on an angle... im assuming that you already have a rooting hormone.. otherwise dont even try it! and they wont let me upload a pic of where you shud cut but just cut really close to the main stem ... do it with a clean razor blade..

that pic looks fine.. it looks like a minor nute burn but nothing major.. the new growth is always lighter then the fan leaves...umm just soak ur peat pellets in distilled water.. take a cutting (on an angle-very important) dip ur cutting in to some distilled water..then into the rooting hormone.. and stick it in the premade hole in the peat pellet.. then just put the bottle half over her... just mist the pellet like once a day to keep the humidity up and u should have a nice healthy clone...

umm once ur clone creates roots.. you can flower it right away. since it has the same genetic age as the mother.. so its already mature enough to flower.. hope this helps..

ohh yeah also just keep ur clone in the pellet until you see her roots popping out the side...

My question is, when i take a clone... do i have to veg it for a couple weeks? I saw on a video once that you can put them directly into flower, but they will not be able to support the buds and only use that method to determine sex.

nah, main growth was not touched actually... it was mostly some side branches and lower branches. Top is still fine. ALso i did take clones, not too sure if they'll take but im hoping. The clones started drooping after several hours but this morning they are nice and perky. I think it had somthing to do with me trimming the tips off of the leaves. At first i didnt do it, but when i saw them droop, i took the snippers and trimmed the tips of the leaves like i always see people do...

Oh yeah, here are some shots from further away, best plants i ever had. The one on the right looks really weak i know and short, thats because both of them are tied down. Un-tied im sure they are over 1 foot tall. Look at the difference between the leaves. One plants leaves look long and skinny, the other short and wide. Just my luck, both plants are male :(

Hey, man. Those lady bugs are cool. They should be fine, as long as you see no chewing. I'm sure you are aware that many people actually use ladybugs to kill aphids on their plants. They shouldn't harm anything, except a fly! lol

I had a big ass ANT on one of my plants one time. I don't know if I posted the picture in my thread or not. Gotta go back and check. He didnt seem to be doing any damage either. Alas, he was still viciously squished by Cohort. That was an ANT, though, not a beautiful ladybug. :D:D

Lady bugs are good you can even buy then 2 eat nasty infestations. I found a few outside on my tomatoes and brought them in. Not sure where they are now, but they used to run all over the plant eating little things, but i never saw it eat the plant once.

I definatly see somthing that looks like a "white hair" near the top new growths between the branches. I would take a pic but my camera cannot take macro shots. I did get a magifying glass to see it better. Before i chop down the second plant, i want to confirm this is really a female. Im wanting to get rid of the other plant because it just looks unhealthy. The one in the pic is my best.

Superb grow notorious P.O.T, I know it's not done yet but man your doing good. I know if you had a HPS light in there, there would be a lot more Trichomes like those ICE piCs from that site. But you have truly master the art of growing CFL style :p . Last night I toped my 2 plants and have cloned the tops that I cut. They are still alive today and look great, maybe I can show you some piCs later today. I hope they are both female :p . How long do you plan on growing those 2 clones you have? From the way that one clone looks, I would think you can top it now and and let the second growth grow threw. You ave many options with all those plants ;) , Good luck on your Choice :thumbsup: ...

well my cat somehow got into my veg box and ate both my clones and my mother... well didnt eat it as much as just fuck them all up.. theres no way to save em....im pissed....fucking cat...

but some good news on the subject is i cut down my ice.. it was mostly cloudy trichs with about 1/4 amber... so i figured its time... just some pics..

and since i have no clones or anything im just gonna stop growing for a whie.. its a very big set back.. but heres the closing to this saga...

Sorry to hear the bad news, I have read many stories about cats eating plants, so I never let me cats near the plants :( . I really wanted to see the mother/clones finish up too :mad: , better luck next time. Harvesting now and giving those nice buds a good dry and cure should have them just about at there best for X-Mas and New Years. Hopefully the cats don't get their paws on them too :p . My plants are doing good, I wil try to get some piCs in later today. The 2 clones are also doing good, I took the dome off of them today. Soon, I will flower all the plants and maybe I can get all females. I'm trying to push my finishing time closer so that I can start a new grow for some good dank buds by 4/20. I plan on growing Papaya for that, I have so many plans in my head right now :p . Wish me luck and well done with the Grow and Harvest :thumbsup: ...

An upgrade sounds good bro, I'm also starting a my first Grow Journal on this site. The grow will be a Papaya SCROG using a 150w HPS and a 65w CFL @6500k in my little 2.5x2.5x3 cab. I already had a harvest of one plant that is drying/curing right now. IT was a top44 plant. Happy NewYear to you guys !!!

sry man i was on vacation for two weeks .. and didnt have access to a comp... umm the stretch wasnt as bad as i was expecting.. because i was told that they are big stretcher... but i also ltsd a bunch to keep it on the low side.. but id say they will atleast double in size.. prolly more. if un lsted..i didnt use fem seeds.. and i only used one seed so i got lucky it wasnt a male..

Those are some amazing CFL grows! It makes me wonder what my new ice will be like. 6 square foot cabinet with 400 hps overhead lighting and 160 watts cool white fluorescent side lighting.

Funny thing, when I turned off the lighting to take these pics, the temperature in the room dropped by several degrees in just a couple minutes!

One plant is a little bushier while the other is not as full as the other. I'll kick them into flower in a few days and see which of the clones taken should be kept.

i vegged for about 4 weeks.. then flowered her.. so it was approx 90 days from seed to bud..
i got an ounce from her but with better lighting i bet i can do alot better..
not sure about after veg but i know that after flowering she was only about two feet.. with some major lst..

Heat is always a problem, I currently use a bathroom fan made to be extra quiet and have higher than normal volume. It still isn't quite as cool as I'd like, but I get by. My cabinet is usually running at around 95-100 degree F when it's on, but I'd like to see it down in the low 90's or upper 80's.

If I could find a low cost, more effective alternative for the cooling, I'd go with it. I already do use electronic ballasts, and those made a huge difference when I made the switch. But the bulb itself still puts out and insane amount of heat.

As far as the number of plants for flowering, I use 10 inch pots and can easily fit in 6. The cabinet is actually quite tall, so it's got amazing potential.

Cats are a pain, but I discovered mice like to eat weed plants too. I started having bite marks on a male I was growing for pollination and finally realized it was a mouse and not bugs. I quickly poisoned the mouse once I realized what happened and my plants went right on growing. :stoned:
