Ive been keeping this OG Kush mom that I was given by a friend and been using her to take clones. The problem however is that this particular strain is extremely sensitive to nutrient burn and pH fluctuations. I can't mix my nutrient solution above 1000 ppm or else it will burn the plant even in full bloom. It also gets white powdery mildew easily. SO......... my plan is to find a male to pollinate my OG mother with and then find a seedling that has the OG traits but is less likely to get the white powder and can better tolerate the nutrients. I was thinking maybe using Skunk #1 since its a fairly true breeding line, but there is probably better out there. I would hate to lose this strain completely since it is the best tasting weed i have ever smoked, but I cant keep dealing with all its problems. I swear its like keeping a pedigree dog, it needs to be cured of an ailment it seems like every other week. Any suggestions on other true breeding potent strains would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest a NL#5 male.
It seems to help stablize a strain without changing it.
Skunk seems to change the taste a bit.
Think about silver haze. It tastes like haze pretty much. Not Northern Light #5.
I have never had the problem of nute burn with the OG Kush' I've seen.
What phenotype do you have. The sativa or indica pheno?
The indica is more kush flavored and the sativa is more lemon flavored with sativa shaped buds.
I love that stuff.
If those seeds turn out good.
I wouldn't mind growing that out.
Listen if you like the taste of OG Kush but don't like the stress. Get Sour Diesel. The taste is very close. But more skunky. Which I love.
It's a strain called chemdawg that is in both those strains that makes it taste so much the same.
There you go!
Use a Sour Diesel Male!
I'm having a flashback of my OG pheno of Oguana Kush ( OG Kush x Herijuana) it did get nute burn easy. You must have the sativa pheno like me.

Yes indeed I do have a sativa pheno...... its gets quite stretchy when i switch it to 12/12 and it forms bracts unlike a lot of the other OG kush I've seen around. It is possible that by the time I got this clone from my friend that it had been cloned so many times it lost it's vigor, so maybe that is the reason it burns so easily and gets mildew. But I absolutly love this plant..... the taste is so nice i can exhale for a full minute before the flavor leaves the back of my throat so i must keep its gene pool alive. I just can't keep letting it get that powdery mildew which then inevitably makes its way around to other plants I have which are more mold resistant, but once that stuff starts its a bane to get rid of. Jdog, I like the idea of using the sour diesel male. Any ideas where I can find seeds for that strain? And is it mold resistant?

You should get a sulfer burner.
I think your clone is getting old. But I also think even a new OG Kush clone would burn easy. It's just a trait of the strain. It was a freak of chemdawg. So it had to be stablized from a mistake. So I think that is why it is so sensitive. I think you can get those seeds at rezivour seeds. I'll get the link.
They do have an IBL of Sour Diesel. Get it quick before they shut down there site like everyone else.

No not in Europe...... Im here in good ol Cali. That link u sent me says the product isn't found. I checked rezivour seeds but I didnt see a sour diesel listed there..... they had some other ones with diesel in the name but none that seemed exactly right. If you know which one is the real sour diesel IBL, your info would be much appreciated. I'm a medical patent out here.... so ive been getting access to good quality female clones..... i just dont have any good males to polinate my gals...... except or some shiva skunk (skunk #1 x northern lights #5) seeds i got from amsterdam on my last visit. i might give that a try but im worried it will cause too much variation in my F1 seeds.... what do you guys think???

Try that link.
It's for the Basic Diesel.
It just like Sour D but with a lot less Super skunk.
So it wont change your OG Kush hardly at all.
Because it is very similar.
Thats what I would use.
The NL#5 x SK31 will change the flavor too much.
I highly suggest you use these Basic Diesel beans.

If you can find the strain...west coast Dog.
It's almost the same as OG Kush.
That would be a better male then Sour D.
I just learned of this strain.
I'm getting a strain called Dogbite(West Coast Dog x Lemon Thai Kush/the lemon thai kush might possibly be the San Fernando OG cut)
This would be a killer strain to croos with the OG.
BUT, It hermies under stress.
But only under stress.
Like the San Fernando OG cut does.
That why it is possible it's the same thing.
West Coast Dog would be perfect if you can find that....Or Chem/dawg.
Chem/dawg is in OG Kush and Sour Diesel.

I totaly spaced .
There is a strain of a backcrossed chem/dawg(the same one that is in Bubba Kush supposedly) But chem/dawg is a main ingredient in OG Kush.
So this one would be perfect.
I contacted the person who sells them for you.
I'll let you know when he gets back to me.
The strain is called White Mustang.

Thanks.... I really appreciate the help. I was over at this one club in north Hollywood.... they sell a type of OG called Butter OG....... I think that mine is from the same cuttings. This one had larger buds that grew in a more sativa like fashion, just like the type I have. I also talked with one of the dudes there and he told me his friend also confirmed that it was very sensitive to nutes like mine. I'm not sure if your familiar with this type..... but its amazing.

I think that is the San Fernando Valley Cut of OG Kush.
It's just a Lemon Thai pheno.
Thats why it hermies under stress and is sensitive to over feeding.
Plus it is probably a hella old clone.
I talked to my friend with the White Mustang.
He's out right now.
But they will be ready in July he said.
Email me and I'll give you his email.

I just remembered.
I have Oguana Kush beans!
Herijuana x OG Kush...this strain is so close to OG.
It's just more potent! But tastes the same.depending on the phenotype.
But I have 6 seeds left.
And I'm sure there are least 2 males. I hope.
Because I want to make some F2's.
