I've been thinking about this for the past few days, and have been doing research on different techniques/frequencies/amounts and I was curious..

To everyone who currently frequents these forums, how do you water and why?

I WATER WHEN THE POTS FEEL LIGHT, ABOUT EVERY 3 DAYS. WHEN IT IS CRUCHY ON THE TOP OF THE SOIL, I FLUFF IT UP, TO HELP THE WATER FLOW DOWN. I LET ABOUT 1 QUART OF EXTRA WATER FLOW THRU.

I ALSO USE THESE NEAT THINGS I FOUND AT "BIG LOTS!". $3.99 EACH.

THEY HOLD 1 GALLON OF WATER AND WATER AS OFTEN AS YOU WANT. ALL AUTOMATICLY. THEY WORK SOOO KOOL. I USE EM WHEN I HAVE TO SPLIT FOR 3 OR MORE DAYS.

i lift the pot and if it feels light i water throughly from the top with a 1 gal jug every so about every 2-3 days roughly

why: i over watered a couple of times and it blows better under than over i allways say

Boyznus - That thing looks sweet, how often do you set it for whenever you're away?

I SET IT FOR ONCE A DAY, 500ml EACH WATERING. ( POTS ARE 4 gl)

IT GIVES EM JUST ENOUGH TO NOT DIE.

YOU CAN SET EM FOR ANY HWERE FROM 5 TIMES A DAY TO ONCE EVERY 5 DAYS, AND FROM .01ml UP TO 1000ml.

FOR $3.99, THEY ARE LIFE SAVERS. BUT I ONLY USE EM WHEN I LEAVE, BECAUSE MY BABIES NEED MY PERSONAL LOVE AND ATTENTION.

GOOD LUCK

I water about every 2-3 days when the top is crunchy and brittle, then i take my finger and dig a hole about a 1/2 inch deep and if it's dry that s a def indicator.

I use one of the 5 dollar probe meter things and also lift to see how much it weighs. Also, I store 30 gallons of water in a dark area so the chlorine burns off after few days.

Mobay - what did your moisture meter cost you? I've heard the cheapies die out really easily but haven't actually seen any evidence of this.

Boyznus, I was always wondering about that. That cracks me up.
This entire forum is like a big show with a bunch of different skits in characters.

..Ok, I need to lay off of this brown shit. I swear to god it's been sprayed with something to get past the border and I think it's giving me an extra "numbness".

Or it's some kind of new, brown strain that looks and tastes just like shwag.

I'm done.

They have mini hydro kits like that one thing. They are cool. 10 bucks each.
But what if you put that things pump into something else/ Like a bigger resivour. Or cut it's bottom off and put it in a bigger container?
I don't know. I's have to see it. But at least then it would be able to water more.

Anyway...I lift it for wieght. Stick my finger in it for wetness.
And I also get to know my plant in a curtasin way that is hard to explain.
I look at it when it's thirsty. And remember how it looks. That way I can tell when it needs water by looking at it. Plus I know them on a deeper level then that too. I'm sure a few of you guys know what I mean.
Those meters are cool. I'm thinking of getting one. Just so I can get more specific with my watering.

Building a self waterer is easy.
All you need is a big rubber made container(Painted dark blue or some color you can't see light threw)
a submersible pump and a timer
Connect a tube to the pump and run it to your plants.
Set timer.

HERE'S A PIC OF THE WATERER CONTROL. VERY, VERY SIMPLE. EVEN I CAN WORK IT.

watering.... veryvery important to keep the roots happy... happy roots me big buds...

water frequency depends on medium and temperature...

using a 15 % perlite soil mixture in a 3 gallon container at 76 degrees I water 1/2 gallon every 5-11 days... when I pull my plants (harvest) the conatiners are filled with roots
...evenly distributed throughout the container...

thorough waterings are key to even root growth and to avoid rootballs and the absurd need to transplant...

trays are kept under my pots and run off is left in the trays...

accepting is love
