like when you come out of the store
or are putting gas and some stinky
dirty human being asks for change
do you help em out
or
are you fucked up and talk shit
i myself like to talk with homeless people
i find there stories very interesting and real
some crackhead asked me for change right now
i told him what do you want the money for
he say life fucking sucks for me i want to get high
i respected that and gave him a buck and a joint
he was very respectful and said thank you in a way
that makes me feel bad for some people
life can get very very ugly
death is even a better option for some but they hang in there

If somebody needs money enough to ask total strangers out of the blue, I'll always give them whatever I can.

Homeless people are everywhere around where I live. On the off ramps. In the median in the middle of the street. In front of the liquor store, grocery store, donut shop. I don't give money to everyone of them. I do sometimes though. I like this sign the best

"Why lie, I need a beer"

I always give someone abuck who has a sign like that.
I would love to make a picture book of homeless people
and tell a little story about them
I am always surprised and interested when they tell a story of where they came from and how they ended up where they are in their life. Always seems like it could happen to any of us.

Went to America 3 years ago and there was a huge que on the highway, we halted to a stop and saw a beggar with a sign saying *Jesus loves you* we were bored wating so we got all the change out of our dashboard used for those fecking tolls, and gave it al to him :) we knew he was gonna buy booze and fags with it but what the heck, its his life not ours.

One time i gave my dealer a ride to the store and he left a half in the car while he was gettin some beer. I saw a bum across the street so i pinched out an 1/8th and gave it to him. Guy looked like I had made his year, he even called me his brother. Dealer got back in the car and just kept sayin "WHAT HAPPENED TO MY HALF?" lmao

For the record, they do buy food, too.

Sure, a lot of them buy alchohol or drugs, too. But think about it. You can't eat garbage food exclusively, you'd start getting some serious health problems pretty quick. And, it's only gonna get harder and harder to steal food, the longer you're homeless. Because you're only gonna look and smell weirder and weirder.

No

only because beggars around here pretend that they are homeless, and they normally sit there with a their pet dog so people feel sorry for them but they have a house but they just cant be bothered working.

Anyone can get of their fat ass and get a job, i dont see why these people cant just because they are crackheads / smackheads / alcholics, they need to sort themselves out.

I used to but then I met this homeless guy who was just a slacker. He was a young guy, mid 20's, who could easily have gone out and gotten a job. He started telling me how he liked to be homeless and jobless. He didn't have to get up in the morning and go to work, could do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted, etc., etc. Basically he found it more fun to get his money by getting it from people who worked than to earn it himself. The guy really had this attitude that I couldn't stand. It was like "haha, I don't have to work but you suckers do"

Now I fully realize that a lot of homeless people really have problems, and their situation is not they're fault, but for every one of them I bet there's 3-4 more like the guy I met. I work my ass off for what I have and I'm not about to give it to some lazy slacker who just doesn't want to work. It's unfortunate that they milk the system and take away resources for the people who really need the help.

i usually give them money (change and $1.00's) if i have any, especially when i see kids my age out by themselves living on the streets. i couldn't imagine what that must be like.

but i also agree with campbell, there was this dude that used to stand on the corner of the off-ramp of a freeway. every day this guy would be out there, then one day the local newspaper did a story on him; turns out this guy had a fucking H2 Hummer and some big ass mansion out in the suburbs.

I used to give them money, but no more. I've seen too many of them turn around and smoke it up. I do, however, by them food. When I lived in New Jersey, I would occasionally buy them boots and gloves in the winter. If I'm going to help someone, I'd rather know where the money is going.

If i have money on me i will. I believe most of them are respectable people who just got a stroke of bad luck. Although some are just moochers. I was watching this news report when i was in detroit and it showed this homeless guy begging for money then when he was done he walked about a half mile away and got into a big escalade with huge rims and drove off.

If I lack compassion I apologize.

Homeless people that want to be homeless won't be begging for money. They choose to live their live in seclusion. While there are those that struggle, there are many beggars that make homeless look terrible.

I use to be generous with the homeless, I gave a couple $20 bucks to buy some new pants. Then I realized the reality:

Half of who beg have jobs. Almost all of the "regulars" refuse to do a lick of honest work.

I have a good friend who is homeless. He put himself in that situation, and at least he's making it with honest work. You can't say the same about all of them.

IMO i think most of these homeless have no fuken shame, there crackheads! they dont want to help themselves so why should i spent the loose change i have in my pocket. What i do now is everytime i have change i save it all ina Large Jack in the box cup, when it gets full, i go exchange it and i have easily more than 100 bucks. Fuck the homeless,

ive done it before and will do it again, theres nothing wrong with people that are not as fortunate as you to help them out. which if they go get a beer with that change thats them, im just glad i know i made somebodys day hopefully....but the homeless tears my heart up. i wish i was a billionaire like these fukers are, i would make sure there is no poverty in the states....

It's better to teach a man to fish than give him a fish. There is nothing wrong with showing compassion for fellow a human being, but giving them a fish doesn't teach them any lessons. :)

I've never given a penny to homeless people, but only because there aren't any in my area. (That I know of)

If I had the extra money, and a homeless person asked for some change, I'd give them a few bucks, but you can't help them all.

I also agree with thcbongman, give a man a fish and feed him for a day, or teach a man to fish, and he'll be able to feed himself for life. ;)

Although, the latter would take a great deal more effort...

There aren't too many homeless people begging around here, but there are plenty of people who sell the Big Issue. It's a magazine which they employ homeless or otherwise destitute people to sell, and the sellers write some of the articles themselves. I know a couple of the guys who sell it, and frankly it's a complete con. One guy (that I'm actually trying to avoid, cause he keeps hitting on me) was telling me about how he's just bought himself a new computer, and a few weeks before that it was a new TV. I'm like, what the fuck? This Big Issue thing is supposed to give them enough money to get food, clothes and pay bills, not to get fucking plasma screen TVs! So no, I don't give money to those people. I do give money to buskers though, if I like what they're playing. There's this one really pretty girl who normally plays the flute close to where my boyfriend works, and she plays it really well, so I normally give her some of my spare change.

I give to buskers because they have a job and that is being an entertainer.

Yes, I usually give money to any homeless person that asks.

(I am often downtown clubbin or sometimes just chill out at The Globe with a Tucher.)

Many of these folks are mentally ill and a little compassion never hurt anyone.

I thought so too, but not this guy! He was showing me pictures of his computer on his new(!) phone while he was standing there in the Big Issue "Working Not Begging" shirt with his magazines. *shrugs* Don't ask me what's going on there, I have no idea.

The funniest 'presentation' I've seen was years ago in Brooklyn, NY. My girlfriend and I at the time were riding around on Flatbush Ave. We get stopped at a light and this homeless guy comes out with this sign:

"Hey, I need your help" <flips sign>
"I got a flat" <flips sign again>
"I'm flat broke!!"

I pulled into a C-Town grocery store and bought the guy like 40 bux in groceries. That was creativity.

I get stopped about once a month. There are three homeless guys walking around my town who stand outside stores and at gas stations and shit. I give them money cuz I'm usually putting my baby in the car and I stand up and their right behind me and I figure it's give em the money or get stabbed.

I'd give it to them anyway if they asked nicely but it pissed me off the other day when some guy asked me for money at the gas station and I had only my bank card and thats what I payed with and I didn't even have any change and I said i was sorry and he got all, "THANKS ALOT MAM" like I was just lying about not having any money. And if I was lying about it it's MY GOD DAMN MONEY and he should consider it a privelege that I'm taking that dollar away from me and my child so he can eat/smoke/toke/or drink. But I let it go, why? Because it would be stupid to start a fight with some poor homeless guy just because he's mad at me for not giving him a dollar.

Yeah, a couple times I've given $20 to bums in Venice.

Oh yeah, you're not going to believe this but once, after hurricane Katrina, there were some refugees put up at a abandoned Wal-Mart here in Texas. I got $100 out of the bank and went to the Wal-Mart refugee camp and gave the bill to a thuggish lookin black dude on the other side of a chain link fence. Of course we also donated clothes, books and stuff as well.

Once in awhile. Depends on the person. Just this afternoon I gave a lady some money. I see her quite often outside the store that I go to before work.
