Hey everyone, just got a White Rhino sprout and Im wondering if you can veg with a HPS? Its 250w, but sadly its all Ive got at the moment and the weather is crap outside. Will the yield be reduced?

GREAT.. careful that HPS heat does not dry our baby up and fry her to a crisp..

Cheers for the quick replies peeps. On the days where its too hot outside (in other words, when its more than 20C lol) I stick them either on the windowsill if Im feeling lazy, or in the garden.

go ahead and veg under 250...I do it in a closet...and it works great. As garden knowm stated...keep it away a bout 2 feet until they start to beg or stretch to the light then lower it a couple inches a day until you get it 12-18 above canopy(this should take a week or so)...dedicate a fan pointed under lamp/over plants.

put hand at top of plants...If hand burns, then plants burn...with fan you should have just a little warmth on you hand and that is the distance you want to keep your light at...hope this helps. lw ...as plant grows...raise your light.
