If you paid for it through itunes or something like that, or even uploaded your own CDs that you bought, i would sue the repair company for however much your music was worth. Get your money back. One way or another.

music is my life You can get it back. If you're tech savvy enough, follow this: Put your hard drive in another PC and transfer the files off your hard drive. I really don't understand what happened. If they somehow got deleted, you can get them back using a file recovery program. When things are deleted, they are just hidden from the OS. Until they are written over, you can get them back easily.

My ex changed the password on our comp when he was drunk and forgot it,apparently there was noway round it so I got a friend who was meant to be good with comps and he worked it so I had windows 2000 but he had lost everything on the comp.I then let someone put a copy of windows on here but I didnt know it was illegal and when I went to a microsoft site it stopped me using it and I lost my stuff again.I am all good now but I am still pissed about the music and if I had let my ex loose on them there would of been murder.

You cant blame him for being pissed off but maybe you are not big music lovers like many of us are.It can take a long time to get a music collection together and some rare songs can be harder to find then others.

Fix it yourself next time? Haha crying over downloaded tunes is not the way dude.....

Get PcTuneUp that has a "file recovery" system in that program, might help you.

Fuck man, I've been there before but not with 10,000 songs. If you don't get your music, you have every right to castrate him with a rusty spoon.

I lost a gig of music a couple of years ago, so now I have a 250GB harddrive dedicated to my music and keep Windows on a second hard drive. Works great, Windows can be as unreliable and shitty as it wants to be and your music is safe.

Ya know, a dual layer DVD burner can be found for around $250 these days...worth the investment. However, I do have to agree with the overall premis that this person did not do a good job. When I do computer work on the side, the first thing I ask is, "What do you want to keep?" and I back it up onto a CD or DVD.

You need to read up on Usenet and get yourself a Usenet provider. You could possibly have all of that music (and then some) replaced by the end of the week.

Okay.. you didn't expect a flame for posting your plans to murder someone after

a) YOU didn't back up your music (which was probably pirated in the first place), especially considering that
b) A lot of times it's best to start from scratch anyway, just to be sure there are no remnants of spyware/backdoors/whatever the hell else you accidentally installed
c) You're murdering some guy for probably just doing his job. A job that anybody could've done after a couple months of reading, but his *job* nonetheless. Congratulations.

Now be a good boy and download your music again, and stop blaming others for your blunders.

Okay. Haze dude, you need to tell us exactly and everything that has happened to your pc. Also, dual layer DVD burners can be found as low as $40; much cheaper than 250.

Dude just chill and smoke you some. go to Shareaza.com and download the p2p program , or limewire.com . Download your shit back, may take you a couple weeks but it beats life in prison or tweaking.

dude you need to fix that shit yourself... I fix peoples puters sometimes and most techs don't take care in saving stuff... I had a friend who's husband bouted with cancer for 10 years and died... The friend had an email virus and a tech wipe all her memories and installed a new copy of windows... I got some disk recovery progs and got most of her stuff back, but the bottom line here is "Learn to do stuff yourself" it's easy and with the info on the internet you can fix anything...

I should have the prog "Get Data Back" if you need it...

WAIT Mofucker! You know how I said that deleting things only hides the files and can be recovered? Same goes for formatting! Even if Windows has been reinstalled after he formatted the drive, you could probably get your files back.

I still want to swap files with you. If you get your files back, consider trading via soulseek or something else.

Forget Limewire, forget Kazza, forget E-Donkey. Download X-News, a Usenet newsreader. Read the documentation that pertains to binary files. Sign up with a Usenet provider. Between those two bits of information, you have all you need. ANYTHING you want is essentially at your fingertips.

End of smiles? I use bittorrents. Most recently, I downloaded Michael Jacksons discography in about 3 hours and a season of That '70s Show in about 12.

I would advise against any P2P as it's too easy to forget to scan a file before downloading.
Avoid illegal software as there are almost certainly free alternative progs out there somewhere.
Learn to do shit yourself (I really only fully trust myself)
Invest in an external harddrive (or other storage) for backing up those precious files.
