Sorry for the long post but I'm really pissed off. Maybe I hold my mom to to high of a standard or something but it seems like she has bipolar or some weird ass psychological condition. Because there are alot of wierd things she does that just don't seem normal. I understand moms aren't perfect but is it normal for moms to be vindictive to the point of threatening to send you to military school because I can't sleep. (I have insmonia but my mom refuses to let me take medication to help me sleep) She tries to make her life out to be really bad to like one time she was yelling at me because I can't sleep at home but I sleep during all my classes. And then she goes on and tries to make me look like I am a drug addict who is always looking for my next fix. And the she said I deserve to go to military school. I asked her why she thinks this and she said it's because I don't do my chores and have trouble sleeping at home so all I do is sleep in class. She acts like I'm a trouble maker but the wierd thing is I get good grades in school and I don't get in trouble except for one in school suspension (for wearing a hood in the building for god's sakes). I can't even be around her anymore without her treating me like some criminal. Does anyone else have a mom like this or know someone like this. If so how can I deal with her when she drives me this fucking crazy.

No, not all moms are like this. Sometimes I feel really lucky to have pot-smoking hippie parents. I had a friend with a crazy ass mom like that though. He ended up moving in with me and my hippie family. :stoned:

dude, thats completely harsh.
My mom has never cracked down on me like that. I mean I wasn't the best kid in highschool, sure I got good grades but I smoked alot of dope and experimented with some pretty stong lsd in my senior year, but me and my mom (and dad) always had this mutual respect thing going: that is they respected my freedom of choice and expression and I respected thier advice and help keeping me in line so I didn't fuck up my life.
If your mom is tripping out because you can't sleep then thats wierd. maybe try leaving home for a week or so and see how it gos. If she freaks out completely maybe its time to think about your life. If she comes around and wants to talk to you like an adult then go for it.
oh yeah, how old are you?

No, my parents weren't (aren't) like that, though I haven't lived with them for a few years. They would both blaze up with me though.
My first question would be though, are you "a drug addict who is always looking for [your] next fix"??? If so then she probably has some valid points. But if not, then perhaps your mutual communication is just awry. Request to be examined medically for your insomnia, then when a physician diagnoses it, you can fall back on the "medical condition" card. If an MD recommends medication and she won't let you take it, she is probably violating the law (depending on what state/country you live in and how old you are). She may even be honestly just stressed out. Try to lighten the load if it seems harsh on her. Finally, a pathologic condition like bipolar (manic depressive disorder) is also possible, but one you can't really do much about until you move away. Sadly when a parent suffers from psychiatric/psychological impairment, the children are either removed from custody if the severety of symptoms warrants it, or left to suffer with pain in the ass parents. Good luck...

I'm 14. The reason she got all mad is because one of my teachers called and said I was disrupting class by sleeping which is completely irrtional and impossible by anyone who has any sense of logic. All I do is sleep I don't bug anyone. Really she is disrupting class by taking the time out to wake me up knowing full well I won't take notes. When I explained to the teacher that I have insomnia and can't sleep she said the same damn thing my mom said. Why don't you rerad a book. I told her that because I had a B in her class that I wasn't gpoing to take notes because I already know Geometry it's extremely easy and I have a B which is good enough for me. She said she can't let me sleep which is untrue because I talked to the administrator and he saidf that if a teacher doesn't care about students sleeping there is no rule against it.
If I left for a week or two she said she would call child services and file a "out of control teenager report" I'm not sure if such a thing exists but she said they would remove me from my home. I don't want that though because as wierd and annoying and crazy my mom is I love her more than anything.

I'm not a drug addict whose always lookign for the next fix which is why it bogglesd my mind so much as to why she thinks I am. And she had me examined but said that I would sell the pills to people for money to spend on weed or that I would take them to get high.
I've tried showing her I smoke weed and that I have no interest in cocaine, meth, or heroin but she still regularly accuses me of being a tweaker (at least once a week) and I've never tried or even touched or been near meth at all.

"out of control teenager report"
Really what it would be is a juvenile delinquency report. It basically says you are a kid, and you aren't doing what your parent(s) are telling you to do even though they feel it is in your best interest and deleterious circumstances may arise otherwise. If she is just being bitchy, sit her down and tell her you want her attention and respect long enough for a mature conversation with her. State your points, explain she is putting a lot of stress on you and how you feel. Shy away from trying to "talk her in to buying your line" and just stick to the fact she is making your life harder than it has to be, and you will try to compromise if she will ease up on you.
Finally, if she knows you smoke weed, and you aren't on any hard drugs, tell her to buy a tox-5 drug test kit (tests 5 most common drugs of abuse: Amphetamine, Cocaine, THC, Opioids, Benzodiazepines). You can take it at home, and it will show the only substance of abuse in your system is THC. Meth, Coke, and Heroin would all show up as their respective category...

sounds like your screwed, you have to do what she says or get in trouble! by what i think of her from what you wrote, i dont think shes going to listen to you but its worth a try. most parents dont take 14 year olds that seriously, and they think they know whats best so it looks like you might have a hard road ahead of you! good luck!

First thing is, get your ass in gear and start getting better grades. Oh, and I don't wanna hear "I do get good grades, I get straight A's, I just hate school so that's why I sleep". We all hated high school, get over it.
The fact of the matter is, unless you can show her 100% that cannabis has absolutely no effect on your life, don't believe her to expect differently, and since she's feeding you and keeping a roof over your head, you might need to work extra hard if you want to keep smoking.
I understand why it upsets you that she accuses you of other drugs, but really, look at the media. If your mom doesn't smoke, everything in the world tells her it is the worst drug there is and she has no reason to think otherwise. Just trust me on this one, if you start getting calls from your teacher saying you're an integral member of the class and are an asset to the learning environment, she'll be a lot more open to believing you're a good kid. You know how I know? When I was 14, that's what my teachers said about me. I was a huge freaking nerd, but I was a huge weed smoking nerd.
Good luck, and I hope everything works out for the best. Oh, and do the dishes. Moms love that.

My girlfriend's mom is like that. A lot of the time she's really nice and I genuinely like her...but then she does things like scream at her daughter for having strep throat. I remember once she tried to make me take her to the doctor's office in town (an hour's bus ride and I didn't have a license...I was 16 at the time). She was yelling at my gf the whole way home in the car, and my hands were shaking I was so angry. I'm not a very easily angered person, so thats saying something.
My friend Jessi's mom is also psycho. She keeps freaking out at Jessi and accusing her of being a drug dealing slut. Jessi smokes weed with me occasionaly and gets drunk on occasion, but she doesn't sell weed and she's not a slut. Maybe a quote would best express her mom's insanity:
"I know you're on drugs, Jessi, I can smell the "E" on you!"
Need I say more?

She already gave me a blood test and a piss test and all I showed up positive for was THC. She just thinks I got away with it or something.

Man that sucks, personally I wouldn't do anything mostly because I'm too relaxed and I would think she was bluffing anyway, but that's just me If your mom is that bad (yelling for having insomnia wtf is up with that?) then don't take that chance, at least try to do what delta9420 said

its funny how americans spell mum, like MOM.
but anyway dude, just ignore her & take your medication and do what u want. i think shes just worried about you and wants you to have a good education...but you could also call it being over protective...how old are you again?
I dont know anyone who is as bad as that.
Maybe you need to sit her down, and force her to listen to you, if she just carries on tell her you'll take her to the docs... Cos somethings going on in her head... she has a go at you because you have a medical condition????
Tell her she needs help or your moving out...

That's the problem I have to get the medication illegally because my mom won't get my prescription. I have been evaluated for OCD, ADHD, and schizophrenia. I have OCD and ADHD but my mom refuses to acept it and won't let me take the medication. She won't let me take sleep aids either because she thinks I'll abuse them. I really just want to be normal though the only drug I enjoy recreationally is cannabis and occasionally alcohol. I'm 14 btw.

Evaluation? Like through the internet?
What age were you evaluated for schizophrenia? What kind of schizophrenia?
Oh, and you really gotta be careful about that ADHD. A lot of doctors just want to prescribe ritalin like it's candy. You can't really trust those at all.
Tell her you'll have to go and talk to someone in child care if she doesnt let you take meds. You need them, and she has NO right to stop you from taking them. Write a letter telling her she seriiously needs to get help to come to terms with you having ADHD (I have it, and its not the worst thing in the world) i dont see why she cant just accept it.

I'm really sorry you are having a hard time of it with your mum,I had a hard time with my mum from a very young age and now we hardly talk.Is there nobody else in your family that you can go to for support?Maybe you should try talking to your mum about your sleep pattern because it obviously needs addressing and it could be a case of just trying to adjust it.
I really hope things get better soon,I would hate it if you ended up like me and my mum.

You sound like the one with issues not her. She is only trying to do what Moms do. She wants you to live up to your potential and stay on the straight and narrow. If you don't want to that is fine but you should not question a parent wanting what they think is best for you. If you are 14 and already smoking, not sleeping at night, falling asleep and not participating actively in class then that is a problem. You are disturbing other students who are trying to learn. You are wasting yours and the teachers time.
Have you gone to the Dr for a full physical lately? Perhaps you have some health issues you are not aware of.

do you have a school nurse you can talk with and perhaps get the ball rolling through her/him? it sounds like your mom needs convincing by a profesional before she'll realize you just need a little help falling and staying asleep a few nights/week...eh? and a prescription for something like ambien sounds like it'd work well for you as it has very little 'fun' to it (to satisfy mom's fear) but a good night's rest with no hangover for sure! i've taken them and they're perfect for short term sleep probs and soon you'll have your body timer back in sync. but 1st ya need to get a doc or other med person to explain that to mom...is that about it?

I definitely agree that you should get opinions from as many different professionals as you can find. Maybe a friend of the family's a doctor, or I'm sure the school nurse can get you started on finding health care professionals. Either way, after about two or three people, everyone will realize your mom is crazy, and that'll make her a lot more inclined to letting you take your medication.
If that doesn't work, there's always montel.

Yeah I was evaluated by a doctor in 3rd grade and then a few other times for adhd. And about the schizophrenia it was when I was way younger. The teacher recommended it. I don't remember much about it except that I don't have it. I'll ask my mom.

I was gonna say, schizophrenia usually doesn't show until the mid-teenage years and if you were positive I was going to suggest getting re-tested.

Hey man, looks like you're having a hard time. A lot of people here have provided you with some valuable info, then of course there's the average asshole who posts four or five word replies with nothing but negative feedback. (No names will be mentioned ;))
Anyway, I'm also fourteen, and I have a few friends that have some pretty hard moms just as well. It seems that your mom isn't too understanding. If there is any possible hope, I highly recommend some family therapy. Just be sure you choose carefully; don't pick a quack, pick someone with experience, check their records, get a suggestion from somebody that you trust. Psychological support may or may not persuade your mom that she's being way too rough on you. I don't see how punishing your child for insomnia could be discipline, it will do nothing to contribute to your success, if she even wants that out of you. She doesn't want you smoking, which is completely normal; my mom doesn't encourage it either (she has no clue whatsoever that I smoke). I can't apprehend how a mother would blame their own child for not sleeping, as if she intends to make your life harder, thinks smoking is bad for you, but won't let you do that either. It just doesn't add up... Just try to find a family psychologist if you can, it may help. It worked for my anger and depression issues, I also hope if works for you.

Good idea. I actually like your outlook of things, and don't take any offense to the first remark (Do I sense sarcasm? :p). However, being she doesn't like the guy smoking in the first place, I doubt she'd post on a board related to drug use. ;)

Yeah I hear you dude. I smoke before school alot. I usually go to sleep so no one notices but if my teacher makes me stand up the whole class is staring at me I get really nervous. And once I flipped out and left the class for some reason. Also theres a black chick in my class who can always tell when I'm high and she always tells everyone so people are hitting me the entire bell and I get real mad.
************************************************** ***
Do you sleep in class because you go buzzed so often?
Why did you flip out? Can you not remember? Also, what do you do during the night? Your activities may be what keeps you awake, perhaps playing on the puter........hmmmmm?
Something is not right here hon, you're only 14. I don't know any 14yo boys that have a hard time sleeping?
Are you sure you're not playing on the puter all night?
Take a warm bath/shower, put on some nice clean pj's and clean sheets on the bed, get a book to read; something light, and just be still and get into the book. You will fall asleep.
Oh yeah, you sleeping in class does disrupt the other students. First of all, you may snore and secondly, nobody wants to watch you sleep in class while they are trying to concentrate.
