How large of a mother do I need to take 36 clones every 2 months? She would be residing under a 250 watt light. I need to make sure that my current cabinet is large enough to support a mother, and that I could fill a double Hydro hut on a 36 plant hydroponic system.

Jerrdog..

If you are ony going to clone every 2 months then you don't even need a 250 watt HPS.. a couple of CFL's will more than do the trick..

I fit 30 two foot mothers under one 400 watt light.

Gknome I have never used CFL's on mothers just clones, do you think they will strech?

Yes.. definitley stretch.. you know that.. LOL
But they are just Mothers..

Sparrow...

Have you seen this...
This was grown using CFL's, it is a 15 gram main cola from a MANGO plant that was flowered when it was 4 inches tall... it grew to about 24+ inches..
It was started fro bag seed...

The plant gave 3 ounces total.. from CFL... CFL's kept close can really limit stretching....

Ya I saw it when you posted it a while back. I did not know it was gkrown under CLFs though. Very impressive. How many watts did you use. That must have been one solid cola if it was organic

There were 3 plants vying for 8- 150(42)watt CFL's...
I was told the it was a MANGO seed....

It was Miracle Grow soil... LOL .. seriously...

LOL

I did not grow it...

SeeMore did..

he is a naughty boy.. it was his experiment... he thought CFL"s were for PUSSY's... NOW he is a PUSSY... and CFL's can be great.... go figure

LOL

I myself.. well I AM a grown ass MAN!!!!!!

i love you

Let me get this straight. He use 150 42w lights?
6300 watts total?

I am lost with the figuring about men and pussies but if it works for you thats great.

Garden Knowm I realize I don't need the 250 HPS, but I currently have one, and am making the switch to an application in which I'll use 2 1000watt bulbs, so I figured if I've got it, I might as well use it.

The stronger the light the stronger the plant....and its offspring.

The 250 will be fine, but it'll cost more than the CFL's, and if you could do it with CFL's it be easier, but up 2 you, you have the choice

I was recently told this.

Can anyone else comment on this?

Say, I have a mother plant... small... 2sq.ft.
Now, say I have one 42W CFL over it...

My question::: Will the low light level cause the plant to "change" its genetics?

Is this true?

Thanks for all replies/comments,

No, but it could turn hermie from stress. Also, my friend was growing a plant on his window sill, and because of the insurficcient light, it never reached 5 fingers on the leaves, its only got 3 and now its 2 foot tall with still only 3 fingers on each leaf.

COOL!!!

It will work great.
If you keep a healthy mother with 250 watts on her 18 houras a day in a
5 gallon pot... I would have to gues, you can get at least 50 clones a month from her. Probably more like 100 clones a month.
