Is my friend growing weed?

i noticed a plant in my friends house the other day with leaves that look exactly like cannabis, but they are green in the middle and red on the edge. the leaves are about 1in big. Does this plant contain any THC? is it a relative of cannabis?

Get a cutting and smoke it - if you get high then whatever it is its something good :thumbsup: . If you don't get high, its not weed. If you get sick or die, its not weed, and it sucks too...

Pictures! And I doubt its weed. The only "red" I've seen on the herb is on pistilate flowers of some strains that flower purple...

i doubt that you friend just has weed growing in his house were others can see it, but i you want to know ASK HIM!

i dont know anything about growing, but if it was hidden in a closet under lights it was probably weed, if it was sitting out in the open like a fern or something it wasnt. did it smell? use a little common sense

first, if it had red leaves, and was cannabis it would be nearing harvest and smell like crazy! second,most fan leaves are much bigger that 1 inch. third and this is important, dont go telling others you think or know that you friend is growing weed, keep you mouth shut! nobody!

there have been some important things brought up here so let me recap and add a few:

1. the smell. Is it giving off a strong smell of weed?
2. the size of the leaves suggest that it is not weed. I know that japanese maple have very similar leaves to marijuana that turn from green to red to purple, but i dont know why your friend would have one indoors.
3. What context is it in? if it is indeed being grown out in the open, in may not be weed, but under a professional grow setup, possibly.

If you see it again pay close attention to these details, and tell us what happens.

its most probably a small maple tree or somthing (i think they are called maple trees) because i know that tree grows with leaves that look extremly close to cannabis and even closer to what you said

if it doesent smell it might be a japanese maple they are almost identicle.my boyfriend owns a nursery and grows those.

robert 420 you know if you grow right and cure leaves before your bud is done you can smoke em and get high.gotta cut those leaves so it wont interfere w/light on yer buds.best to get high when your getting cuttings in the flowering process.we do it all the time and then make hash we have so many leaves.

If you seen the plant you should've smelled it..well if it is a weed plant and you didnt smell it then chances are it's not even flowering yet so dont pick anything off thinking you'll get high from it :p. But the even more serious question is..why are you asking us if your friend grows weed? We dont even have any pictures to determine it, why dont you just ask your friend? :confused:

i have seen one of those plants before on a friends patio, it is called 'acer japonica' i think, it is not related to cannabis in any way-i asked my dad.
There are many different types of acers. I think they are types of maples. Its a shame they arent related to cannabis though:(
