Hey guys. I need some help and fast. Most people may be annoyed by this, my sincere apologies. If you think you could help me, give it a go. thanks.

Im guessing No.5 Tan s = 4/16 possibly 4/16.2

#1 y=75
x=45

Just wanted to know I could still do it...

Jeff Ill work them but #3 needs seems to be missing some info and what is one supposed to find in #1 & #2 x & y? Ok so I am stoned :stoned:

BlackBliss
02-24-2006, 07:31 AM
Im also guessing the answer for No.3 is...... the longest side (y) =21.3 and (x) which is the smallest side is 11 ......so (y=21.3) (x=11)

BlackBliss
02-24-2006, 07:42 AM
i think is No.4 is also 1.3/4 altitude

BlackBliss
02-24-2006, 07:43 AM
anyhow i think thats all i am capable of helping with at the moment due to my self induced condition lol, goodluck buddy

by the way mate, just remember that No.1 and No.2 aren't that much different, but because they have 2/4 of a square or 2 triangles it doesn't matter thos top 2 are very long equations and will have a very different answer because of it :) goodluck bro

#1 I am guessing that Y is the alt of the triangle?

So Y = 44 Sin60 = 22 x root 3

Also Y is one side of a 45 rt triangle so

X = Y root(2) = 22 x root 6

If y is the base of the triangle then the above still works but you need to find the base of the 60 30 triangle and thats 44 cos 60 = 22

Check my work please - one extremely stoned mathematician here - I didnt know there was going to be a quiz after I smoked

#2 is exactly the same problem except you start with 14 instead of 44

lemme look on

Ok #3 & #4 both seem to need more info to solve - looks like angles might be missing ?

#5 you can find the third side by Pythogoras theorem call it X

65 = 16 + X^2

so

X = root( 65-16) = root(49) = 7

and tan S = 4/X = 4/7

Check my work!!!!!

lol obviously shows how my uk education failed me have no clue wot those funny little triangles r lol

Its just notation and its slightly different from place to place. I dont have here - or dont know that I have - any way of doing math symbols so I write

X^2 meaning " X squared"

and root(2) or root 2 meaning square root of 2

Makes it all harder to read especially if you are a bit rusty. This is just trig and simple geometry. If you ever took those subjects and did ok then it would come back fast

Ok in the cold light of day I see that in #1 I switched the 60, 30 angles - did I say I was stoned? Right method, wrong numbers so:

Again assuming y is the altitude

Y = 44 sin 30 =22
X = Y root 2 = 22 root(2)

The base of the 60 30 - call it Z
Z = 44 cos 30 = 44 x root(3)/2 = 22 root(3)

Check that Z^2 + Y^2 = 44^2 ?

22^2 x 3 + 22^2 = 22^2(3+1) = 22^2 x 2^2 = 44 :thumbsup:

The entire base call it B

B= X + Z = 22 root(2) + 22 root(3) = 22 (root 2 + root 3) time for your calculator

Check my work!!! I am a stoner and hang out with a bunch of potheads so CHECK:stoned:

And did you say you were in a hurry? So wtf are you? We stayed up late last night torturing a very stoned brain with math problems - now its your turn!:confused:

Huh??? Jeff, how old are you?? We got this is the first year after elementary school.
This sh*t is too easy! What grade do Americans learn this is? Wow, how basic.

Edit: no offence, i'm just really surprised

Good students in the USA cover this material in middle school - roughly last 2 yrs of elementary in europe- but the system is so soft that many kids do a couple of years of college before having to confront this stuff. Its fucking disgusting IMO. We once dominated the world with our technical skills, now we depend on immigrants with good educations to fill the ranks of research in industry and universities. Its pathetic. If you listen to the moronic drivel that gets spouted on any kind of tech subject (other than growing) its obvious that all the sci. education these kids got is from watching Star Trek!

Bring on the deluge!!!
