The hardest-hit community during Tuesday's blazes was Cross (http://people.lulu.com/storage/users/296/42296/images/23756/cross%20light.jpg) Plains, a West Texas ranching (http://www.parkc.org/balzar.html) and oil-and-gas (http://www.bullnotbull.com/gallery/images/g-2002-09-02-war.gif) town of 1,000 people some 150 miles from Dallas (http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=dallas). He did not know how she died.
