ok im a guitar player i find that i play WORSE while high (i may not hit a bend right, etc) but it is also when I'm high that i stumble upon the neatest riffs or progression of all... so while imparing my ability to play my best, it allows me to be more loose with the guitar, it allows me to explore it with no boundaries and be creative

I play mostly guitar, and enjoy playing more when I'm stoned, and play better; more likely to explore a bit and try new things. Sometimes real inspirations hit, who knows where they come from. On stage I always seemed to need to hit a certain "escape velocity" to really open up, and smoking a reefer with the band between sets always helped. I also do back up tracks and whole compositions on a sequencer/synth, and during the composition and mix stages, a good buzz really helps me zero in on the sounds I was looking for. Listening to it when not under the influence has reasserted the worth of the work.

In one band I was in, too long ago to mention, one of the guys would set up a reel to reel, to catch everything we played while we were jamming out of our skulls; it was too free form to stop and write down or even try to remember. During breaks we'd play it back, and make notes where the good parts were, in order to save them and work them out later.

I'd say that playing while you're stoned or tripping is a way to open up your style, you just have to remember to save the good stuff and dump the lame bits.

Im usually better when Im high, I think of better riffs, melodies and lyrics enter my mind easier and I have a more static sense of rythem.

Hower sometimes I get so high that I can barely play my guitar let alone move my fingers accurately and thats when I give myself a little relax time then go back to it towards the end of the high. I usually kick ass then.

Percussion is my main musical focus- the rhythms I play become more intricate. I made up this trick one time (forgot what it was, but I'll experiment again) and it sounded amazing, but was so simple to do. Made me wonder why I hadn't thought of it before. :stoned:

Being high while playing really opens things up for me. So, I don't know if it really makes me any better. However it allows me to be more open and dynamic with my playing.

well ive been playing pisno since the day i was born. I've been playing guitar for about 8 years now. I find I actually play piano better a little drunk but if im writing something calm being stoned haelps a little. But when I play guitar, I think of all kinds of crazy shit. I usually will record me playing for about 30 minutes and then listen to it later and see what I like. It's so cool, like listening to a cd youve never heard but you made it. But I'll take ideas from that and work them into other songs because YOU CANT WRITE GOOD MUSIC IF YOUR STONED ALL THE TIME!!! Even the pros have to sober up now and then to get their shit together.

I play Djembe a lot when I am "on the marijuana" :)
I dont know if I play better or not but I can certainly get myslef lost in the groove easier. I also find that I can retreat into the rhythm with ease.
So I do know that it does enhance the experience...one with the skin, so to speak.
It also helps me to be more creative and layer the sound with more complexity.
Ok, I guess that means I do play better, or enjoy it more.
But I can also reach that same experience with a deep relaxation or meditation.

My didg doesnt get played much when I am high for some reason.

when i first started playing I would have sore hands. Half of it was striking it wrong, the other half was just toughening my hands up for that kind of abuse. Ive ripped skins from playing so hard when I get right into it.
I can get real fuukin intense when i play. I summon when I play.
