Cheney called Democrats "opportunists" who were peddling "cynical and pernicious falsehoods" to gain political advantage while U.S. soldiers died in Iraq.

The comments were the latest salvo in an aggressive White House counterattack on war critics, launched as Democrats step up their criticism of the war and polls show declining public support for the conflict.

Avoidence of the issue? Fact is many of the Dems thought the war was justified before the changed their minds. Clinton said that Sadamm was trying to get WMDs during his administration....his ol' lady backed him up during Bush's administration with some of her great speaches. Fact is, Cheney is just calling them for what they are. :thumbsup:

I'm not naive, I know all politicians are dishonest by definition. When it comes to going to war, however, we, including our elected representatives, should be able to trust that our President has a damn good reason and is telling the truth about it. And yet it wasn't until good ol' GW Bush came around that we actually went to war. Bush wanted to go to war with Iraq, plain and simple. Whether it was to finsih what Daddy started, revenge for the attempt on Daddy's life, or just to boost his fucking ego, he wanted war. He didn't care how he got it. What bothers me most is that going to war, and sending young American to die, should be the absolute last thing a President ever wants to happen during his Presidency. Bush not only wanted it, he did everything possible to make sure it happened. Absolutely shameful.
