I'm not gonna lie. Growing takes time. And a shit load of patience. If you're impatient like me, your looking to snagg a good QP within two months... but of course that's not possible without clones. Until now. My setup shall include 25 lowryder seeds all of which I will sprout in a peat/perlite mix in 2 liter bottles (This will be their home throughout their entire life) in my 20" by 30" space... Because they are auto flowering plants, I will most likely have sexed all plants by day 20, then chop down males. Expecting at least 10 females... That means an SOG of 10 mail kolas under a 400w HPS. Expecting at the very least 1/2 0z. per plant leavin' me with a cool 5 oz's for christmas :) if all goes according to plan. This will be the official thread for this project... Seeds will be here on friday, which means I won't have have any pictures to share until monday or tuesday, but any imput is certainly welcome!
Peace :D

Rasta,
You just gave me a slight wiff of hope... Do you think you can still make buds for xMas?!
Wow! I had given up on the idea... I mean, I grabbed a calendar, and started crossing out days for: germination, vegetative, cloning, growing, flowering, then 1month for curing the buds... My time-schedule put me almost at the end of January 06...
I can't wait to see how you do it!
I read that you're going to be using the 2 liter bottles... a la HarddOn... cool !
Updates when possible! ;)
Best,

Well folks the seeds ain't here yet... but some questions of lighting have arose... I only have 400w in 30 cubic feet of space.. I think I need to chop my grow box in half... lol. How many lumes per cubic foot should I have?

30 cubic feet?
That's volume... Rasta, how much square feet do you have on your grow room?
length x width = xx ft^2
How far away is your light from the bottom of your grow room? From the average top of your plants? Top of your pots? I don't know... get the best reference point.
Once we have that, we can use that nifty insverse square law to determine how many lumens you've got going...
As to how many lumens per cubic foot... Again, it should be 'square feet'. Cubic is volume.
I think that with something over 7000 lumens per square feet you'll be pimpin' . ;)

20 inches deep, 30 inches wide, and 5.0 feet tall... so i dont know lets just say 2 by 3 feet so I have 6 square feet. The number of inches I can get my hps off the top of my plants fluxuates with how cold the air from outside is.. today it was kinda chilly so I managed to get the light about 10 inches off the tops.. about a foot on average. But I have no reflector or anything the bulb is simply exposed.. so tons of light is bouncing all around where it isn't being used. The inside is painted with clean coat of flat white paint and when you close the door hardly any light seeps through... I need to brush up on these lighting laws I think I freaked out for no reason.. because let's see If i have 6 square feet and the horilux has somewhere around 55,000 lemuns that means I have a bit more then 7,000 lumens a square foot.. but does it matter that it's bouncing all around in 30 cubic feet of space? I dont know.. turtle help me! Am I good??

Hey Rasta,
Right now I'm too sleepy to do the calculations for the lumens... But I had an idea:: I think that you should place your bulb horizontally... instead of vertically... I think, think , that the majority of 'photons' being generated from the bulb would be on the horizontal directions...
Can't you get some mylar? If you're able to, you can cover some cardboard with Mylar... then place that over your bulb/fixture.

my bulb is currently horizontal, thanks to the low temps outside today I can get my bulb 4" off the little monsters :D

AND IT BEGINS :)
Just received my lowryder, popped 10 of them into soil w/ a reading of 6.8 ph. Just a few more days my friends, and it all begins... I will sex ALL plants by the 18th of next month. I know they say 60-65 days for lowryders but I'm sure the trichs don't reach their peak that fast.. I'll be monitoring trich color with a circuitry magnifying lens i picked up at radio shack until I get 50/50 amber and cloudy trichs. Then the harvest :) I'll dry for 7 days, have a good doobie of the fruits of my labor, and cure the rest for 2 months. On your marks, get set... GO!
Peace :D
