You may wonder why i'm doing this thread but I read in an article in a National paper yesterday that British MP Charles Clark wants to reclassify cannabis from a Class C to Class B.
This is one fact to start off with 500,000 people in America suffer from multiple Sclerosis these people can be help by the use of cannabis.
The Benefits of Cannabis
ā?¢ Cannabis is less addictive than amphetamines, tobacco or alcohol, and does less harm to the body
ā?¢ A government report found that high use of cannabis isn't associated with major health or sociological problems, unlike other harder drugs
ā?¢ It relaxes the user making violence less likely than a person drinking alcohol.
ā?¢ Can be used for people with eating disorders because it gives you the ā??munchiesā? which means it inclines you to eat more.
ā?¢ Itā??s a natural substance and has been used for thousands of years.
ā?¢ There have been NO directs deaths caused by cannabis.
ā?¢ Itā??s legal in Holland.
ā?¢ Alcohol is worse for you and thatā??s legal so cant be that bad.
ā?¢ It can be grown relatively easily due to it being a hardy plant.
ā?¢ Its effects are beneficial to sufferers of various medical conditions, including cancer, HIV, multiple sclerosis, and glaucoma.
ā?¢ Itā??s probably only illegal because legalizing would render many traditional legal drugs obsolete.
ā?¢ Itā??s relatively cheap.
ā?¢ Itā??s easier to regulate the amount you use because it affects you near instantly unlike alcohol that takes more time to get into your system.
ā?¢ Many users report an increased sex drive and heightened sensitivity.
ā?¢ Downgrading cannabis from a Class B drug to a Class C drug resulted in a decrease in the amount of teenagers from taking the drug.
ā?¢ Even Britainā??s top Police Officer has gone on record saying ā??the relaxation of cannabis laws should not be reversed as dealing with small amounts of the drug wasted police timeā?
ā?¢ By downgrading it from Class B to Class C researchers said that relaxing British cannabis laws could save around 50 million pounds ($71 million) a year and free up the equivalent of 500 police officers.
ā?¢ A study by the South Bank University's Criminal Policy Research Unit found that around 69,000 people were cautioned or convicted for cannabis possession in 1999, with police spending an average of 4 hours on each offence. With most police officers operating in pairs, the study said 770,000 officer hours, or the time of 500 officers a year, were spent processing cannabis offences.
The Drawbacks of Cannabis Use
ā?¢ It may be psychologically addictive. Heavy users can display aggressive impulses if their supply suddenly stops a side effect similar to that of anabolic steroids.
ā?¢ Cannabis may be a 'gateway' drug to more harmful substances like heroin and cocaine. BUT
