You may wonder why i'm doing this thread but I read in an article in a National paper yesterday that British MP Charles Clark wants to reclassify cannabis from a Class C to Class B.

This is one fact to start off with 500,000 people in America suffer from multiple Sclerosis these people can be help by the use of cannabis.

The Benefits of Cannabis

â?¢ There have been NO directs deaths caused by cannabis.

â?¢ Alcohol is worse for you and thatâ??s legal so cant be that bad.

â?¢ It can be grown relatively easily due to it being a hardy plant.

â?¢ Its effects are beneficial to sufferers of various medical conditions, including cancer, HIV, multiple sclerosis, and glaucoma.

â?¢ Itâ??s probably only illegal because legalizing would render many traditional legal drugs obsolete.

â?¢ Itâ??s relatively cheap.

â?¢ Itâ??s easier to regulate the amount you use because it affects you near instantly unlike alcohol that takes more time to get into your system.

â?¢ Many users report an increased sex drive and heightened sensitivity.

â?¢ Downgrading cannabis from a Class B drug to a Class C drug resulted in a decrease in the amount of teenagers from taking the drug.

â?¢ Even Britainâ??s top Police Officer has gone on record saying â??the relaxation of cannabis laws should not be reversed as dealing with small amounts of the drug wasted police timeâ?�
â?¢ By downgrading it from Class B to Class C researchers said that relaxing British cannabis laws could save around 50 million pounds ($71 million) a year and free up the equivalent of 500 police officers.

â?¢ A study by the South Bank University's Criminal Policy Research Unit found that around 69,000 people were cautioned or convicted for cannabis possession in 1999, with police spending an average of 4 hours on each offence. With most police officers operating in pairs, the study said 770,000 officer hours, or the time of 500 officers a year, were spent processing cannabis offences.

The Drawbacks of Cannabis Use

â?¢ It may be psychologically addictive. Heavy users can display aggressive impulses if their supply suddenly stops a side effect similar to that of anabolic steroids.

â?¢ Cannabis may be a 'gateway' drug to more harmful substances like heroin and cocaine. BUT

â?¢ It has a higher tar content than tobacco, so smoking cannabis presents the same health problems: bronchitis, emphysema and lung cancer
BUT a vaporizer can be used which means none of these health problems.

â?¢ It can disrupt the control of blood pressure increasing the risk of fainting. Even occasional use is bad for people with heart and circulation disorders, and for those predisposed to schizophrenia.

â?¢ Smoking cannabis leads to â??dry mouthâ?� where users need to drink more because the air passage to the lungs expands and stops the mouth producing saliva.


Why should it be legal?

â?¢ Buying from a traditional dealer will probably be funding crime so by legalizing it, it can be more regulated so less money for organized crime.

â?¢ By legalizing it there is a greatly reduced risk of â??dodgy weedâ?� because it can be regulated and not smuggled in from god knows anywhere and be mixed with other more harmful drugs.

You could then grow though.....of course they would probly make a limit to how many you could grow......but who's going to be watching??
