yes, I know there's been a good deal of hurricane threads, but damn! after watching cnn and bctv news, I can't believe how dispicable people are in these situations, you'd think somewhere people would pull together and help each other.
instead, I hear that the number of rapes in new orleanes has skyrocketed. apparently mass flooding and death just gets the juices flowing in some people :rolleyes: .
but not just that, the gangs have pretty much taken over, they just interviewed a group of people yesterday who are all living on a rooftop in hiding because they're afraid of being shot in the streets (as has been happening). people have also been shooting at the national guard who's trying to help survivors.
and it's not just the violent people either, they interviewed one guy who was in tears because he had been in the water 8 friggin hours with his dog because all the people in boats refused to pick him up.
there was another group of people stranded in a hotel because they couldn't get transportation, and some other occupants with multiple vehicles packed their cars up with luggage and refused to take anybody because they didnt' want to leave their precious belongings behind.
just goes to show how "civilized" a lot of society is and how far we really have to go in humanity. not one person who pulled any of that above stuff should be allowed to call themselves "christian" or any other faith.
also really makes me think of all the people who think they're so high and mighty and pure, yet put personal belongings above human life. Perhapse us "useless pot smoking hippies" who indulge in the evil marijuana aren't really any worse than the good pure abstinent people. :rolleyes:

Any big city in the world that gets flooded like that, there will be rape, looting, etc. Just how the world and humans work. Nothings wrong with it, its just nature at a low.

Not eveybody has the decency to save a deprived family or kid... And its not a bad thing. They are simply trying to survive like the rest of us but are lucky to have more priveleges, and they will take advantage of it.

Bottom line is, you gotta expect it in the world nowadays. It is very hard to accept it but you have to whether you like it or not. I certainly don't like it, but I can't do anything but donate something to them.

the only explanation i can think of is that people who steal big t.v.'s and such have lost a crap-load, such as their house, vehicles, all personal belongings, and may sometimes not have insurance. however, I'm not making excuses for them, just considering one possibility (for some) .

i heard in houston there was this guy who had supplies loaded in the back of his truck for the victims of the hurricane who were arriving at the astrodome - some guy stole the truck with supplies and drove off.

Okay. America is WWII was just about the only (or one of the only) wars that America should have actually faught in. But dude, let me remind you that America only joined the war efforts after being attacked by the Japanese. If that hadn't happened, they might have never invaded the beaches of Normandy. 6 million of my people were killed before America even did a damn thing. Not only that, but they practically made a killing off of WWII in the arms trade business. It wouldn't surprise me if part of the reason America joined was for their own economic interests, but of course I wouldn't base too much on that.

Dude that makes me sick. Canada is the target of many American insults and negative comments. You guys don't think much of us but we think even less of you. Sure we're not as wealthy, but we also don't have thousands of people killing each other every year. We also don't deprive half our population of health care, and we don't get involved in business that isn't ours. Our government is concerned with helping our people, your government is concerned with making money and telling people how to live. It's not our fault that we are so economically dependant on America. Part of that is because of some ridiculous laws that your government has made, that unfortunately no one had the balls to oppose.

1. America and Britian were not long ago big enemies, and America broke off from them through a war. what is their inclination to help them out now?

2. The only reason the US was the last to join, as so many bitch at them for, was because they were the only ones not under direct threat from the nazi's. I really wonder how many of the european nations would have fought in the war if they weren't being directly attacked, or saw that they were innevitably going to be invaded. you should be gratefull they even helped out in a war that they had no obligation to join.

3. the US sent England 50 destroyers to help out long before they joined the war, and told them they can pay it back after the war was over, and not with a constricting deadline.

4. "they only attacked because the Japanese bombed pearl harbour" is a pretty weak and simplistic argument. The Japanese wanted to invade the Chinese province of Manchuria, and the US told them they would face retaliation from america if they did so. that's the reason Japan attacked the US first, because they wanted to invade and the US was protecting them from aggression. also another reason not to jump into the European conflict when they had impending war with Japan looming.

5. The US still sent tons of supplies to help out before joining combat. If you argue doing so was only to make profit, then you're just bashing america no matter what they do. if they didnt' help out, people would chew them out for not helping, if they do help out it's just to make profit. it's lose/lose in the worlds eyes no matter what they do.

if you're going to bash somebody for past events, know what you're talking about (as so many people need to do).
