41 DAYS FROM SEED, 11 DAYS OF FLOWERING.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE IN STRAINS!!!!
THE MIDDLE (SHORTY) IS MY EASY BUD FROM DR. CHRONIC. IT IS MUCH SHORTER THAN THE TWO GRAPEFRUIT BESIDE IT BUT VERY HEARTY AND STOUT. I'M VERY CAREFUL TO NOT LET THE GRAPES OVERTAKE IT AND BLOCK LIGHT. I'M CURIOUS TO SEE IT'S YIELD BECAUSE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A COMPACT PLANT BUT NOTED TO BE A FAST MAXIMUM YIELDER. I AM LOOKING FOR A SHORT COMPACT PLANT WITH BIG YIELD FOR MY CABINET GROW.
THE GRAPES ARE REALLY AWESOME BUT MAY GET TALLER THAN I NEED. IF I GROW THE GRAPES AGAIN, I WILL FLOWER SOONER (2-3 WEEKS). I MAY HAVE TO BEND 'EM DOWN SOON AND TRY SCROGGING THEM.

Very beautiful buds for 18 days of 12/12. I'm jalous. Expect a good yield but don't over feed them.

I have a cabinet setup with little height and some heat issues which I combat the best I can. I use a Hydrofarm 250W HPS with an exhaust fan. I didn't know these grapefruit would get so tall so I'm bending them down. The Fluoro in the back is a T5 High Output 96W with two blue spectrum tubes and two red spectrums for "general growth". They help light up the underside of the canopy which gets filled pretty dense. This is a new light to me, and It seems to do the plants well, even though it creates a tad bit more heat. As long as the branches aren't resting on it it's fine. I use Silica Blast and Cal-Mag plus for added protection to heat and stress. Here's a quick rundown of my equipment:
HYdrofarm 250W HPS w/ exhaust
American Hydroponics "Baby Bloomer" ebb n' flow
Hydroponics grow plugs (for seedlings)
Hydroton grow media
PinPoint (American Marine) constant pH monitor
seeds from Female Seeds .nl (Dr. Chronics seedbank)
T5 HO Fluoro 4 x 2'
CO2 injection system
RO water
Floranova grow & bloom
Floraliscious
Hygrozyme
Cal-Mag plus
Silica Blast
Chi Foliar spray
Diamond Nectar
Flora Sheild
dual-outlet airpump (aquarium style) w/ airstones
This is my 3rd grow ever. There's all the knowledge you need right here in these merssage boards. A few pieces of equipment, and the right nutrient regimen along with good quality genetics, and lots of attention did it for me.
Everyone should have the American Marine "Pinpoint" pH monitor. It's not expensive ($90 US). It runs on a 9V battery. It clears up the guess work and gives you total peace of mind with pH. If you use chemical and organic nutrients and supplements, you can have fast rising pH levels and an unstable resevoir condition. It can be as harmful as it can be helpful if not cared for properly. I have no resevoir issues anymore with the pH meter.

I'm following the recomended amount of nutrients as published by General Hydroponics for their line of products that I'm using. I have a TDS pen although I don't use it. I just add the recomended amounts in a new nutrient batch to the exact milliliter, change the resevoir every 7-8 days, and use plain RO water to top the rez in between rez changes. For the non-GH supplements, I just follow the directions according to the bottle. I think I have the perfect cocktail for all the conditions I have to work with.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet Dude. I was looking at one of the 2 strains for my next grow. Which do you think is going to produce more for you ? I'm in week 5 with the girls and showing trichomes good, NL's. It's going to be one of your strains or a skunk. I have no problems with smell, they can stink and not a soul to smell it but me. I heard the grapefruit smells good though.

well it's true.....hydro does real wonders from what i can see with my grow so far.....unfortunately i got no pics yet (still am unable to find that usb cable to transfer the pics to my pc:( ).....my plants are getting bigger every day that passes, they are in day 12 from seed and 20/23 are developing the second set of real leaves already........the rest 3/23 are trying to catch up with the rest, it seems that their development was slowed down because i placed them wrongly on the NFT tray and they got no nuts to get fed with :(
anyways stormcooker your ladies look great man, i am anxious for mine to grow as beautiful as yours :D
take care:)

I think the Grapefruit will produce more than the Easy Bud. The GF are taller with heavy side branching. They are shading the EB a bit. I should really do one strain at a time like 2 or three GF or just a few EB. The EB looks like it would be a great producer if it had more space and light, it's compact, short, but very strong and thick. My next grow is Hash Plant x Northern Lights. I'll stick to one strain so I have no overpowering issues and height conflicts.

oops, scratch that, I just got an email from Female Seeds.nl saying their Hash PLant x NL will not be released until the new year. THey are coming out with a new line called X-line which will be crosses of some serious beans.
Soooo, what shall I grow next???? It has to be feminised/female.
Possibly that Skunk special.I'll keep you posted

took them out to clean the system and change nutes. They really are massive, bigger than my AK47 were. I can't believe how healthy they look for only 23 days of flower

Good harvest in close future, i'm sure. Could you tell me what is the electro conductivity of your nutes solution, plz? I think that the secrets of succeeding an hydro grow is good PH and NO over ferts. And also the temperature of your cabinet... Thanks

I had a reverse osmosis system installed yesterday. It costs $1000 US but I'm renting it for $29 US /month. You have to love that!!!!!!!!!!
I've been using RO water all along but I was using the 5 gallon jugs they deliver to offices and some homes. They deliver once a month so I had 6 jugs (30 gallons) sitting in my kitchen taking up space. NOw it's on tap!!!!!!! awesome

it's been decided. Skunk Special from Female Seeds .nl is next grow. Just looking at Fhydro's plants is decision enough. THey look like big ass pine cones at the end of each branch. I never grew skunk, in fact I don't know when was the last time I smoked it. I'd say those colas look they are going to weigh about a half to a full ounce each when dried. I ordered them last night. They should be here by next wednesday. I will probabbly begin soaking them around september 15 ,a month

Congratulations for your choice. You will not regret it!! The high of this weed is something to consider. They will be bigger in your set up in fact!

if they get as big as yours did, I'll be happy. Do you recomend I grow 2 plants with plenty of room, or three plants a little crowded? I'm looking for maximum total yield (isn't everybody?). I've got 3 going right now and the shorter indica is getting a little shaded although I should have a great cola and a few big side branches. THe two sativas have good room and are bent over to maximize light exposure.

I would grow 2 well cared plants, they will give you the max. But buy a active carbon filter because of the smell. What's the smell in your closet ?

The closet's odor isn't much of a problem. It is vented outdoors and masked with pretty high tech neutralizers. Anymore plants then I have would present a problem, or if the skunk special is a lot smellier than my grapefruit. I think the worst smell is not the plants but the reservoir with that Floraliscious . It makes the closet smell like a dirty reptile tank and raises the pH up steadily.
Do you think the skunk special is A LOT stinkier than most sativas? Smellier than AK and Easy Bud, and grapefruit?

I don't know EB nore GF, but i'm growing AK and Sensi Skunk#1 and Skunk Special smells a lot more than AK and Sensi Skunk. But it's not a bad smell, it's just a strong fresh hashish smell. I get very paranoied the last 3 weeks because of the smell around the house. Now that i cut skunk special, it smells a little but not too much.
Try Skunk Special anyway. I've got an healthy cutting left and if i've got a AK47 male out off my new grow, it will pollinate my cutting. It would make a good cross, no ?
