I have a 1000 watt setup that is too loud to use. Can use a 400 watt bulb in a 1000 watt setup? Will it help with the noise?

no, you can't as far as i know, use only light that matches the power output of your unit....i do not know exactly what you can do about the noise...maybe you could try and put it inside a box or something in order to keep noise levels down but i do not know if it's safe to do that as the heat will go up and a fire hazard could be nearby if the box is made of paper...
