homemade vaporizer..

i made one today and my oh my did i get blazzzzzzzzzzed...it knocked me out pretty quick...well i hope the bulb isnt too hazardous for my health...hm...how were your guy's homemade vaporizers when u did it? (for those who made one)..
when i take a long big hit...i get a menthol kinda feeling while tasting the cannabis...kinda nice..then if i hit too long..kinda gets nasty but not bad..so i hope im hitting right...i see the mist..and very little whitish smoke..but only a little..cuz thats the good stuff haha..anyways ^^ happy smokinz

so you just put the herb in the bottom and light the bottome outside part of the glass.....you can vapo in bowls...i never let the flame touch my herb just hold it about half an inch from it and it will start smoking

could somebody explain how I'm supposed to heat it? I gave up on my vaporizer, but it's just like the above one in this thread (the pic) and I did get white smoke, which I mistook for vapor. I must be doing it too fast, how do you know when to stop, when it's heated enough?

you should hold a lighter flame til its touchin the bulb where the weed is and heat it until you see a light grey vapour. thats when to stop lighting it and start sucking...inhale about half the vapours, and then wait for a bit more vapour to come in and then inhale again til its done - hit it about 10 times with about .2 always shredded never whole bud

to get the stuff out of the bulb you just unscrew the bottle cap holding the two straws/tubes

to be honest i think using a light bulb is the stupidest thing in the world. their are alot of dangerous crap in a light bulb and i'm sure smoking out of one isnt good for your health. I would honesly think a glass jar or a glass bottle would be the best thing to use but i could be wrong.

i never thought of using ot like that. the bulb is thinner than most or any glass bottle, and the clear ones have nothing els in them besides the guts. i am gonna make 1 on my day off. vaping this way realy works good? only one way top find out. you could also use a glass garcia vega tube with the straws and sutch.

i tried creating one and all went well but when i lit the glass it created a black smudge on the outside. i know the bull had ink on the outside so mabe that was it. wear do you get a fucking bulb that doesnt have it?

It's not ink on the outside, it's the dirt from the lighter.

See, the ideal reaction is

2 C4H6 (butane) + 11 O2 (oxygen) --> 6 H2O (water) + 8 CO2 (Carbon dioxide).

However, the butane isn't pure, and other factors affect how it burns, so along with Carbon Dioxide, you get carbon monoxide and pure graphite carbon. The gases go away, but the carbon and impurities cake on the outside of the bulb. You don't see it in a bowl or joint because it just blends in with the carbon caused by the combustion of the weed.

Also, as long as you get clear light bulbs, not the colored or (god forbid) frosted ones, it's just pure glass. You don't need to worry about "all that shit" because it isn't there in the first place.

damn i wish i didnt throw that bulb away, cause i did see some vapors. it was one of the softwhites but they powder comes out with soap and water. after you see the first vapors how long do you continue lighting?

fuckin eh is right - the type of cap is a regular pop bottle cap 2L or a smaller bottle - the caps are the same size anyways. To make nice holes in it get a medium pair of scissors with a pointy tip and put the cap on the ground hollow side down and just rest the tip on the cap and push thru it when you think its positioned - after the scissors are in the cap start twisting the scissors to round out a hole. Be sure not to push the scissors in too far, or else your hole will be too big. Instead of 2 tubes/straws, I use one, and have just a smaller hole beside that without any tubes in it - works the same. Also, make sure you dont make the two holes too close to the edge of the cap ( make them about a half cm in ) because you still have to screww the cap on the lightbulb - hope it helps

after the first vapours, just stop lighting it and let it fill up, then pull till your lungs are full and re-light

you'll know youve burnt the weed when instead of misty light-grey vapour, you get white smoke rising right off the bud and that defeats the purpose of it...
also, on the topic of lightbulb vapourizers, ive had mine for about a month and I easily bake with .4ish - on the other hand, my coffee table vaporizer I bought for 100$ cant compete if what you want is to get high from as little as possible - my big vape works well with around a g, and that way, it'll get 3-4 people pretty high, but the lightbulb wins for a solo-bake

ok i did it and im pretty baked for the amount of bud i used. the only thing i didnt like is that when i sucked in it tasted like ass and i have a bad taste in my mouth and makes me feel like im killin myself lol.

but when you see the vapors does it fill up that much? all of mine were pretty small hits that would be in my lungs and the bulb cleared as soon as i sucked in.

any ideas on some better glass bottles besides a lightbulb to be safe, cause just that lighter grease on the outside scares me.

Hey, i might have a better idea but i wont have the bud money till my paycheck on the 5th, and even then i probably wont buy any.

anyway, instead of using light bulbs, which might have chemicals and can break easy, how about one of those small gerber baby food jars. the hold about as muck as the light bulb, and you can heat up the glass and it will stay hotteer longer cause it is thicker.

what do you think, could it work? just poke 2 holes in the lid and put an empty pen or strw in one side.

o shit i just got back first my guinea pig fuzzy died and then these chicks called me and wanted me to come over, so im continuing the bowl. To get the black part off i just drilled through it and it like broke so i just kinda stuck something in it(dont think that way u perv) and pryed it out

After shattering like 8 bulbs i was just gonna make a pipe where the bowl like comes out where the cap would be and then a tube would be connected to it making the bowl stand like upwards and then just have another tube come out for the mouthpiece and the bulb would just b a chamber. So anyway i drill it out and im washing out the bulb and all of the sudden the fucking metal part just falls off. The glass didnt break but the metal part just came off. so i just give up

anyways, i figgured out the black part, drilled it out with a knife, and did the whole bottle cap thing, heres the finnished pic

all you have to do is go look about 1 and a half threads down on the aluminum part of the bulb, take some scissors and just go to town, the filliment will break off as you do this and probably fall into the lightbulb, so take that out and wash it out so all the little glass particles are out of it, the cap and straw thing is self explanitory

as for smoking it, heres what works the best... hold the lighter so that the flame does not hit the glass, the tip of the flame should be about a centimeter or two below the glass (this way, all of the impurities in the butane burn off before the heat hits the glass, so you dont get that caked on black shit), you may need to preheat the bulb for a couple second, but as soon as you see vapors keep the lighter right there while your inhaling very slowly, you will see the grey vapors come right off the weed and continue into your mouth, if the vapors turn into smoke, then just back off the lighter a little bit, you wont feel anything until you start to exhale, then you die. the end.
