I hardly think changing from anything to cigarettes is a healthy decision. Personally, I'd recommend just getting hooked on coffee for a while as a substitute. but try to drop that eventually, you can get some major bone problems if you drink too much of it.

put urself in a drug awairness program and u will hear and learn alot of things that will deffinitally help u. and that way u can come and go at ur free will and its not a quart order. i know kids that were forced to go and still say they got alot out of it.

if it's just weed you want to stop using there should be no problem just stop if it's something along the lines of stimulants IE: COKE CRANK ect. you will prob need some help if it's opiates [ heroin percocett that kinda thing] you will need to ween your self off of them a methadone detox program might be helpful if it is benzo's [ valium / xanax] you will also have to ween your self off stopping benzo's outright after an extended period of use can be very dangerous there are other alternative ways of stopping stimulants and opiates IBOGAINE has been used in holland for treating addicts for some time now it is illeagal in the US but there are a couple clinics in the states that have found a way around the law it is aval in canada and there is a clinic in mexico hope this will help some and i hope you can accomplish what your setting out to do good luck

ezjim's got the right idea. Weed is easy enough to quit.
Best thing i've found to do is find something that'll keep you preoccupied. Try coffee, gum, lots of sex..... Find something you want really bad, like a new TV or something and start saving your money for that. Don't take any money out with you that you might use to buy drugs.

Weed IS addicting. Most potheads don't like to admit it though. It's been scientifically proven to be physically addicting.

Weed can be phsycologically addicting just like any other drug (or anything for that matter). It is a greater risk for people who have addictive personalities.

Tru dat. Anything that stimulates pleasure sensations in the brain is addicting. How addicting is SEX ?? Excercise is also addicting.
People should be more concerned with the effects of their additions. Take responsibility over yourself, and make decisions based upon your own best interests.

... although, you could make a case at least in men that there are phsical withdrawl symptoms in the case of sex.

Please let us know what drugs it is that you currently use, and which you are trying to stop. You obviously have your reasons, so I won't hound you on why are stopping...

Yeah, only at a place like this would people be telling you NOT to quit taking drugs.
And as for weed being phsyically addictive, that just hasn't been proven anywhere. The opposite has been proven. People can psychosomatically create physical side effects, though. When I get stressed I get an upset stomach and usually end the day with a good puke. It's not like I have ulcers or anything, it's just the psychological factor.

cannibis is not physically addictive the only drugs that have a physical addiction are opiates i think you might have ment phycologicly addictive a physicall addiction means your body is dependent on the substance and must have it to keep from getting ill you should not get your info from the ondcp or dare they are lying to you

Dick, stress is a major cause of stomach ulcers. I had one before I was 18 (most likely from stress, and diet [I like spicey food]). You might want to check it out. I found out about mine while getting an upper gastro-instinal x-ray for some unrelated issue.

Word man. Everyone should try and quit smoking for a week to see what happens when you quit.

There were mass studies on rats back in the day to understand their cognition, behavior, etc. One of the more interesting was when the rats were hooked up with an electrode planted in their lymbic system, the "pleasure center" of the brain, the rats would press down a bar that triggered the electrode over and over until they passed out from exhaustion. So, a psychological addiction could be really hard to kick. But I'm not a quitter.

Uhhh.......opiates and opioids are both physically addictive. Benzodiazepenes are physically addictive as well. You can actually die from Benzo withdrawal. And if you were really sick with a disease or something you could die from Opiate/Opioid withdrawal. Alcohol withdrawal can kill you as well.
