Hi ... Phil O'cybin here. People say I'm a real fun guy, though my friends think I can be a real spoor.

I don't want to trip you out or anything, but did you ever notice the sound your toilet makes when you flush it ... SHROOOOM .... the same sound your brain cells make as they get sucked into hallucinogenic vortex.

Coincidence? Or Conspiracy? Just what are they trying to say ... and who are THEY anyway? Why do they keep following me?

Perhaps the curious are still reading this. Why? I don't know. I don't have the answers, only questions. I'm not f'n Yoda. Just stop reading and leave me alone. As of now this is offically a private rant. Don't post. Kill this thread. Kill me.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhh

Stay tuned.

Wow. Glad to get that out of my system. Must remember to be like two fried eggs and keep my sunny side up.

....i've heard that flash backs are non-existant and they are all created in the users head and some do it for attention....but i've never really done anything that would cause me to hav ea flashback so i can't say for sure.....but if you could take acid a few times then get a flash back on it later that'd be the shit....like a free high lol

I have heard that the active chems in acid, shrooms, and ex, store in you're spine. i have freinds that say because of this you could crack your back/neck in a place that needs it, and release the chems stored. but thats just hear-say.

The actuality of it is really that LSD is stored in the fat cells of your body. Over time, as these break down, small amounts of LSD may be released back into the bloodstream causing a breif hallucinogenic flashback. I've had a few (did a bunch of LSD in the 70's-90's), but I'm pretty skinny, so I really don't have very much fat at all, let alone a significant amount for extra LSD storage.

Bummer, but that's the way the wee wee drizzles.

Edgar

Acid isn't stored in fat or your spine, its gone within about 3 days... Don't believe everything you hear.

Also, flashbacks dont require any drug, they can be caused by just about any sufficiently intense experience, eg the Vietnam war.

Edgar

They're more akin to super vivid memories.

Dick Justice

Yeah that shit's in and out quick, so any flashbacks just come from weird as hell experiences. That's why sometimes when a person has a terrible bad trip they might spontaneously start to re-live it.

The mind is a very odd thing. Many things it does is blamed on drugs, but usually is all done by the brain. You can have tons of flashbacks without even touching drugs. Any memory that is connected to a very strong emotion, or something that changed your life, showed you something you've never noticed before, etc you can have flashbacks about.

jadeius
06-23-2005, 11:20 PM
but an lsd flashback is not something tied to a memory...it is a chemically-induced reoccurance of a drug-related experience attributed to the buildup of the particular drug at a particular site and the release of that particular chemical at a particular time based on particular stresses on that site...that is, if a flashback even really exists

LOL, i don't know. i have eaten all kinds of shit and never had a flash back. AND i tip the scales at close to 300lbs. so if there was any lsd in my fat, when i get on the tredmill i shoud get high as shit.**runs to the tredmill**

Ps.I'm stoned :)

Thank you. Thank you very much.

Elvis has left the building.

PS Man-made LSD is stored in the fatty tissue. Check your facts. Whether it is released in amounts significant enough to cause hallucinations is in part related to your setting, and expectency, and openness to the experience.

Treading away may not make you trip ... but it's as good a motivation as any to exercise

LSD does not form "crystals" that reside in the body to be "dislodged"
later, causing flashbacks. LSD is a crystalline solid (though it is
unlikely that one would ever have enough to be visible to the naked
eye) but it is easily water soluble, thus cannot form bodily
deposits. Furthermore, it is metabolized and excreted in hours. The
bogus "loosened crystal" description in not necessary to explain
flashbacks, which are psychological phenomena (see FLASHBACKS).

http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_faq2.shtml

I really dont feel like lookin up the actual research, but if you think you can point to something that says lsd is stored in fat, be my guest, cus ive always read that it is water soluble, therefore not stored in fat.

Erowid:

There is an often circulated myth that once you have taken LSD, it remains in your body forever. The main thing that keeps these rumors circulating the is fact that some people (though very few) experience "flashbacks" (generally within a few months after a hallucinogenic experience). It is generally accepted, however, that these flashbacks are not the result of lsd remaining in the system.

Flashbacks

There is also a commonly reported possibility of "flashbacks", a psychological phenomenon in which an individual experiences an episode of some of the subjective effects of LSD (this may be a positive or negative experience) long after the drug has been consumed and worn off -- sometimes weeks or months afterward. Flashbacks are an example of a Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder, a DSM-IV diagnosis. Several journal articles have described the disorder (see, for example, Adverse consequences of lysergic acid diethylamide, H.D. Abraham and A. Aldridge, Addiction 1993, 88:1327-1334). Several studies have tried to determine how likely a "normal user" (that is a user not suffering from known psychiatric conditions) of LSD is to experience flashbacks. The larger studies include (Flashback phenomena in basic trainees who enter the US Air Force, Blumenfield, Military Medicine, 136, 39-41, 1971) and (LSD Flashbacks and Ego Functioning, Naditch, M & Fenwick, Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Vol. 86, No 4, 352-359, 1977), arriving at figures of 20% and 28%, respectively.

Debate continues over the nature and causes of flashbacks. Some say flashbacks are a manifestation of post-traumatic stress disorder, not directly related to LSD's mechanism, and varying according to the susceptibility of the individual to the disorder. Many emotionally intense experiences can lead to flashbacks when a person is reminded acutely of the original experience.

Several urban legends claim that flashbacks are the result of trace amounts of LSD or related chemicals being dislodged and released into the body after having been crystallized and stored in fat or spinal fluid cells. However, scientific research has disproven this conjecture; LSD (which is water soluble) is metabolized in the liver, as with many other drugs, and its metabolites are excreted normally in the urine.
[edit]

Psychoses

There are some cases of LSD inducing or triggering a psychosis in people that were apparently healthy prior to taking LSD. In most cases, the psychosis is of short duration, but in other cases it may be chronic. It is difficult to determine if LSD in itself induces these psychoses or if it merely triggers latent conditions that would have manifested themselves otherwise. Several studies have tried to estimate the prevalence of LSD-induced prolonged psychosis arriving at numbers of around 4 in 1000 individuals.

Sounds like you're right on the fatty storage release on LSD -- though it never actually said that it wasn't stored there, just that it wasn't released in quantities that would cause a drug induced flashback. I took that pharmocolgical drug actions course 20 years ago, so I'm not surprised that there's new evidence one way or the other.

Or is it just a federal conspiracy?
