yes you can cut the bad leaves off. yes new ones will grow. my suggestion though would be to put more light on your plant so it won't stretch. just a suggestion though. (look at the front right girl of mine in the pic. you want yours to look like that. it took me two months to figure that out.) oh and topping is when you cut the main lead. when you cut the "bad leaves" off it is called pruning. you might also want to get a grow book to guide you through the process of growing. you need to get more light. i bought two 2 foot flouros with two bulbs each at home depot. all together its 80 watts. costed me $40 for the fixtures and $5 for the ext cord to connect to the wall. oh and don't forget the fan. i have a small 6" fan on them, for now, that i bought at big lots for $6.

30watts is about enough to heat a lava lamp...

i personally have 600watts of CFL... this i still consider, not enough.
