does anyone like to play while they're high? i play guitar and synth...i like to fuck around when i'm high, but i never get anywhere with it. my bandmates and i have tried to play high and we would take one idea and roll with it for forever...usually ends up with me and a few pedals on, turning the knobs and getting hellish noise out of my rig...cool, but i'm betting only potheads could appreicate it

thats whats cool about smoking though...song writing should be done sober, but to go into the outer territories of sound and texture, a bit of bud can't hurt!

I'm always stoned and I'm always playing music so I'm always playing music blazed. I used to play in a rock band when I was younger, and everyone in it was all anti-drug and whatever, so I'd always smoke before hand so I woulden't get bitched at. Anyway, they found out I love my drugs, and kicked me out, and I guess since then they haven't been able to pull together a single song since I left or anything and they all quit playing and shit. Looks like not doing drugs ended up ruining their productivity.

Anyway, I'm primarily a jazz/blues musician, and when I'm stoned improvising comes way easier to me because it takes down all of the mental barriers and helps me not think so much.

You get used to it, I've been playing for about a year and a half, weed used to make me suck horribly, now it makes me better. Creativity is huge benefit.

yeah, i played piano for 10 years, been playing guitar for 4, music is in my blood...i play synth now, which is really cool, and i have a couple neat modules, but theres nothing like sitting down at a piano for hours of improv goodness...sigh

we had practice tonight at our new place and its sweet, the room acoustics work out really well without any sort of work done yet...:D

Music + Weed = Awsome. If you want to perform high though you have to practice high. The whole tempo of your brain is different and therefore tempos of the music are different. Not just timing issues, but the way the sound waves move hits you differently, and you need to learn again how to make things the way you want them. So with a little practice you can be as good while high as when your sober. Also many people find they are more creative while high, so there is that added benefit.


BTW brrg, I've heard of LoC and CV. I have one of LoC's albums, but I dont know what its called. I dig them about as much as any punk band.... which is to say I dont really dig punk, but if I had to go to a punk show, LoC would be the first on my list. Used to be into that shit alot more in high school. Some kids I knew did a LoC tribute album, and had Stergin (sp?) come in and do some vocals for it. The bands name was No Cash. If they aren't in jail yet, they are touring around the U.S. and Europe.

Yeppers, I went to high school with them. They used to live a few miles away. All during high school I went to see their shows. Glad to hear they are doing well now. They put on a damn good show.

When I'm high I can also ride a groove way better. I can play ahead and behind of it, or just sink right in to that pocket. It seems like when I'm high, I can physically manipulate music a lot better. It brings out a lot of hidden nuances in everything that I can react to and just takes everything to a whole different level.

i play guitar, bass, a little keyboard, hand drums, and i also sing alot. I play almost every genre on guitar and bass and my main thing that i play for people is folk where its just me and my acoustic. I have a friend whos a really funky bassist tho, and we've played a few places with different drummers. Mainly ska, funk, and jam band stuff in that band. I just like playing anything i enjoy listening too, and getting high has actually led to some pretty cool inspiration.

My brother in a band which will play 2 shows in NY, one in NYC and one in Rochester on the 15th and 20th of June respectively. I was wondering of any of you can assist the band on getting gigs (like bars, small clubs, etc.) along the way and in return if your band ever decides to tour in DC, they'll gladly hook you up.......
