I was going to but besides Ross Perot, I cannot think of a time when an Independent mattered if at all. Not that I am against Independents as I myself voted for Ross and almost registered as an Independent but to be honest it always comes down to Dem Vs Rep

As far as Iā??m concerned a registered Independent voter need not vote for an Independent candidate. They are an Independent like meā?¦..they vote for whoever they wish and owe no loyalty to either Democrats or Republicans.

A Republican until the Dems can come up with better alternatives from top to bottom. Threads like this get locked pretty fast on another MB that some of us spend time on. The last election made people too crazy. My teenage daughter actually cried when Kerry lost; was convinced there was no tomorrow...

It's a shame Dean self-destructed. At least he's entertaining.

thats the way I see independents too. I don't want to commit to someone just because they belong to a certain party I have to beleive in the person...Right now Howard Dean is sounding pretty good. :)

And it is the end of the world as we know it, Bush has fucked this country up, the whole world hates us it seems.

Maybe France, Germany and Russia knew I raq had no WMD and that Bush was just being a Nazi Asshole. I am sure glad I spent part of my life fighting in a war that was unjust, but hey... It was the right thing to do, right?

I'm a Libertarian. Keep the government out of my personal life and out of my wallet. They're also one of the few parties in the US that have a stated goal of ending marijuana prohibition. Check 'em out...

The major two political parties in the US are Republican and Democrat. Almost all polititians in the US belong to one or the other and align themselves on the issues along party lines. Generally speaking, Republican polititians are conservative on issues and are often referred to as the Religious Right. Democrats are referred to as "Liberals" and are more to the "Left", tending to spend more on social programs.

A historical example would be John F. Kennedy, a Democrat that started the Peace Corps. A good Republican example would be Ronald Reagan, that put in place "Trickle down economics", which gave huge tax breaks to the rich business people with the idea that they'd pass down the wealth to the poor.

When a person registers to vote in an upcoming election, they register as a Republican, Democrat, or Independant. Then when a primary election is held (which chooses the party candidate), only voters within their own party can vote for that parties candidiates to decide who will run in the general election.

Further, former President Bill Clinton was a Democrat and he firmly believed fellatio was not a sex act, nor was dipping a cigar in an interns, uh, vagina. So he did it a lot. Current Republican President Bush believes very strongly in killing lots of things. He was great at it as Governor of Texas and has flourished as US President.

In the US, the east and west coasts are generally Democratic, while the central states are Republican.

I am an anarcho-communist. Somehow neither the Republicans nor the Democrats speak to me.

LMAO are you now or have you ever been a member of the communist party...oh you are not old enough to remember that BS...I guessing.

Actually in my opinion...the republicans (the reds) are pretty close to the communist. They are in bed with them anyway...ever look at the ties the Bush family has to China?

I know about McCarthyism; we yunguns do have history classes. :) By the way, I do not support any communist party, "communist state", or any such thing. That's part of being an anarcho-communist. And China's economic system is de facto pretty close to capitalism.

Hey Looker, I know you were kind of joking about that, but if you were a part of the economic class that republicans cater to, would you be down?

I am NOT a part of that class. Would be better off financially if Dems were in power, but man do I feel safe with this administration regulating...

Thats a little simplistic.

When I hear these terms all I think of is "the money party" and "the money and guns party".
