So my story is that I have to get clean in order to be able to get tested negative and keep living my life on the outside.
I'm a lab medicine graduate who believes that not all weed smokers are good for nothing criminals. Unfortunately, I live in a country where smoking up can lead you and plenty of your friends to spend your 20's in a rape pen.
What I've gathered from my brief Googling and lab related knowledge, is what Im going to present to you. (both in order to help you know what's the deal with all the myths around, and to incur your help if I'm wrong about anything, due to my lack of experience in this specific domain)
Here's my specific information right off the bat.
I'm a 22 year old male, high metabolism, around 125 pounds (56-58 kilos), 5"7 (175cm). Very heavy smoker (~6g of quality hash every day, non stop, for around 3-4 years now).
I'm going to give my research-aided, professional opinion about some of the common methods being thrown around to help get clean the old-fashioned way (no substitution or dilution), what I need the reassurance in is how long you would think a person like me would need to get below the 50ng cutoff of most strip based tests, and if there's anything wrong with what I'm saying.
Drinking lots of water/cranberry: I'm sure most of you know that THC is a fat-soluble molecule (meaning it hides out in your fat cells, i.e the fat coating your organs, your abdominal fat...etc) that gets excreted at a certain rate from your body through your liver/kidneys. While drinking a lot may give you the illusion that you're pissing away all the THC fast, all you're doing is overworking your system without affecting total THC levels any differently. GFR (golemrular filtration rate..the rate at which your kidneys filter a specific molecule in your body) is independent of urine flow (basic clinical chemistry). Basically, it doesn't do squat.
Niacin: Another full blown myth that I haven't found any proper scientific research giving merit to it helping clear your body of THC. The term "flushing" which you may encounter when reading about it, is merely a lesser serious case of blushing (redness of the skin).
Sauna/Steam bath: A lot of dispute over this. Based on the research I've read on the presence of THC metabolites in excreted sweat, I can say that - at best - a week of sauna might help you flush out a minimal amount of THC through sweat. After a week, the amount excreted is negligible. Overall, It's not a reliable method in the least (keep in mind sweating is a mechanism for cooling, not the transformation of fat into excreted water), but might help give you relaxation, and shave off a few hours from your detox time.
Green Tea/Caffeine: Caffeine and caffeine-containing beverages can raise your metabolism, which might help you clear your system at a slightly faster rate. Don't go chugging liters of that stuff until you're a shivering mess. Regular consumption is OK.
Aerobic Exercise: The gold standard of naturally eliminating THC from your system. Raises your metabolism, increases fat turnover. Running 2-3 miles a day, and staying sufficiently hydrated is essential.
Commercial Products: Excellent if you want to eliminate all excess cash from your wallet. Think about it; if there's a product that would help you lost fat, and in turn lose THC metabolites from your system, everybody would be fighting over it to lose weight. It would be a multi-billion dollar industry in itself.
Diet Change: Eliminating fatty foots from your diet is essential, because you're attempting to get rid of the fat already present in your system. Don't starve yourself, but stay below the caloric intake necessary to maintain your weight. Go on a vegetarian diet, no carbs, no fats.
This is what I've gathered so far concerning this issue. What I want to ask if is if my information is solid, and how much you think it would take me to flush the THC out of my system naturally. I went full vegetarian, completely stopped smoking, running twice a day (total of 2-3 miles), staying hydrated, and drinking some coffee and juice here and there.
Thank you for your time and effort. All the best.
