I harvested Half of one of my ak's for some seriously heady nugs. Some amber, some clear, mostly cloudy. Cutting more down on Sun. one week later.

less amber= headier high
More amber = body stonier high

/How come mostly cloudy? I was told that cloudy means the thc is degrading.....

Even without looking at the trichomes the pistils are just starting to brown and that bud still looks like it has plenty weight to put on. Give it a few weeks but like someone else said you can never go wrong if you "scope your dope"

amber = degrading

Mine go from sparkly diamond clear to translucent then to amber but never to a cloudy........maybe getting lost in the translation. I have old bud that has degraded and the trichromes are opaque white with very few amber and they go white after turning amber.

I've read your descriptions in the past, Lipps. It seems to be a little different from some other people's observations. Maybe it is all the adjectives, translucent, clear, cloudy, opaque.
I don't remember looking at old bud and thinking that the amber trics turned to cloudy. Maybe I never checked into that at all. But living bud seems to me to go from clear to cloudy and then amber, but not all together at the same time. It's usually a judgement call on how they are developing.

I've seen them half clear and half cloudy, amber to the point of rupture and anywhere in between. Harvest is a question of how you want your bud to effect you. I usually take the top half of my plant at the earliest signs of mostly cloudy with some amber and some clear. Then I let the remaining buds develop to about 40% amber. I do leave some tops as well. I just enjoy that early harvested, very heady weed.
