here's one way to grow huge plants outdoors. keep in mind the soil here is mostly clay and rock so u can change soil conditioning accordingly.
1. dig a 3x3 hole
2.put 8 in. or so of rather big gravel in bottom
3.fill with good soil mixture, i usually use 1/4 to 1/3 grow mix(mostly peatmoss)mixed with the existng soil plus about 2-4 pounds of a rich organic mix.
4.use mulch or big chunks of clay in top to prevent drying out.
5.the more water the bigger they get(within reason) the gravel provides great drainage and your roots will grow fast. the bigger the roots the bigger the plant.
you can get 1-3 pounds dried per female with this method. good luck and happy growing!!!!

the suumer here is brutal so watering helps, this is a technique a friend tought me and i believe it because he showed me a plant with a baseballbat sized stalk and over 3 pounds dried. those are great loking plants, how many are in that last picture it almost looks like one plant in the backround

lets water drain to prevent root rott, the soil is full of clay here so that wont apply to everyone.

will I get 1-3 lbs how I am doing it. I use a little of that potting soil pete then use the soil in the area it is by a stream and flood area so it is good dirt. I will feed the plants regular plant food. the area gets lots of light.
