If I understand what I've learned correctly, seedlings should not be placed under HID lamps immediately.

So, my questions:

1) What would be a sufficient wattage (for 10-12 seedlings) if using fluorescent tubes during this stage?

At what stage in the grow is it safe to put the plants under the HID lighting?

T-12, T8 or T5 fluoros all work well the first 3 weeks of vegging. 6500k is best. HO T5 is best.

I transplant and switch to HID after 3 weeks veg.

Thank you so much for the response. Just to be sure, would the t-8 or t5 fixtures that are used for aquarium hoods be sufficient, in your opinion?

They are fine for cloning and hardening off
