My wife and I made a google document that allows you to import measurements in volume. The document then converts that into how much it cost per plant. We give this to our patients that we added so they can see a visual of where their money is going.
But the trick is converting everything over to a volume. Ie. Measure a tablespoon of soil then weigh it.


For cost of equipment we totaled up everything than divided by 365.5 to get a payment cost that is by day.

Have to fire up and old mac to get that document but I can post it if you want.

$50, yeah right. WHat patient/caregiver who is growing MM is going to sell all their meds for $50 an ounce? Next to none , if any. I know I won't be while Im growing a plant that is still illegal federally to grow .

If I sold all my meds for $50 . DO you think all those patients would come to my aid if the DEA raided my grow? WOuld all these patients come pay the thousands of dollars for my legal defense ? Again , probably not . Seems like a lot of patients feel it's there god given right for someone to grow them $50 ounces. WHen they have no idea of the time and dedication to produce this medicine . Do all these patients that expect cheap meds pay for the equipment and setup of a MM grow, no? DO they pay for the 3-4 month electric bills before a crop is even produced? DO they pay for any losses due to disease or mold? Do they lose sleep at times worrying about raids or robbery ? Producing MM is not all fun and games.....

In a perfect world with legal marijuana , I agree $50 is a good number. Now , no way. I bet 80% of patients that if they received $50 an ounce meds, would be reselling at least part of it.

I think a good route is for each CG to have 2 patient slots for low income/ssdi patients. Then use the remaining 3 for patients who can afford a higher compensation to subsidize the low income/SSDI patients.:hippy:

This is for one a hobby (growing) So youâ??re going to get the guys that like to treat it like a hobby. Think of hot rods and the guys that do this with their money and their cars. Do you really need a bad ass ride to get you where you want to go? No! you can get a 4 cylinder eco car to get to point A/B that is much cheaper to buy and run. But no matter what you will get the guys that want the best for their plants and their return so yes a 200 dollar bag of plant matter can cost that much and cost 50 dollars.

We are growing this plant under strict prohibition! So yes what we learn and how we grow is from that point of view of growing. You want to spend allot on this hobby to get the best for your return because there is so much at stake.
The horror story that changed me from giving out 38 dollar ouncesâ?¦ The lady just turned around and re sold it. Payed off her bills and then said she had no money so I compassionately would just give it to her. Until she burned threw that ounce in less than four days and called me for more. I do agree that we should just give it to no added patients but like everything, know the person you are dealing with! Maybe even create small circles of friends to help each other out when your in-between harvest then re-gift when you up and running again. Asking for money is going to get us all in trouble and we are going to lose our rights to grow.

DO you have any idea what it takes to get 4 ounces a plant? Seems probably not . Yields on plants are strain specific , dependent on growing style , and amount of light . Your not gonna run a 600w with 20 plants and get 4 oz a plant, sorry . To get 4 zips a plant off of 12 plants you would need around 2-4000watts of light . That's also if you know what your doing a and have a high yielding pheno . Then with all those plants and light you also need a huge dehumidifier , massive a/c and lots of other equipment. Not as easy as peop[le make it seem .

I believe that your number is pretty close once you already have an established system, the right phenom's selected and an automated system. Just about every grower I know does not track the time taken to maintain a crop. When I've broken it down for pretty much all of them, they are always shocked when I strart putting a price tag on their time. One guy was completely blown away at the fact he was spending more than $400 an oz. (He makes good $$$) on his med's.

Most of Cali cannabis is manufactured which always keeps cost low. Yet, I'm still shocked to see that no one realizes that MM is still illegal on a federal level and no one is really protected? With risk comes a higher price tag. I don't believe anyone should be paying more than 200 though, 100 price range is nice and reasonable, but, not if your on disability.

Even some of the CC applicants have meds for $50 or less an oz for certain individual's.

But, the reality is, it costs way more than 50 an oz. when your starting out. If you start with too little cash flow, you can take forever to adapt to problems and kill production. Quality bud takes some people years to figure out and the only way to expedite the process is with cash flow.

Again, its a business, you just don't launch out of the starting gate with top quality meds at maximum production from day one. It takes time, time is $$$. Some CG's have to recoup costs of start-up which could run some people tens of thousands of dollars if they do it right and have little DIY skills. A pharmasutical grade grow room for 12 plants in a perpetual system could run you up to 20K easy! So, the price really depends on the grower and the product. Granted, 350 is a ripe off in either case, but a case for 150 to 200 an oz. meds is an easy one to make. (Again, you need to save up in case you need legal help!!!)

Remember, we are all learning, $40 an oz for meds is a best case scenario with a lot of luck. You don't know the quality of the meds and again, as with everything, it is subject to interpretation. My AAA MM may be different than your AAA MM. How can you judge unless you've tasted the goods???:thumbsup:

Besides, we have weight limits here in RI which would change your math considerably. Granted you can have a plant that yields 5oz., yet you can only have two plants if you use weight guidines and not plant count as your guidline (Of which is what you are technically suppose to do). 12 plants would put anyone over the weigh limits easy, if your legit and follow the law the math alone would be a pain in the assets just to stay within the guidlines.

I'm not even going to touch that paradigm...lol:wtf:

There is a way though that would make everyone happy and I can assure you it is coming. Just someone please help this guy out with some more affordable med's... It is a crime to charge 350 an oz. regardless when the patient is on disability. Good luck and don't be trick by numbers. After all 40 growers out of a million, you only have about a .0004% chance of your math being correct, statistically speaking of course...lol

yup 4 oz a plant = all the extra cost that go with it. A 600 watt bulb covers 10 plants/1 oz a plant nicely and I do not need a a/c humidifier... this plant does not need this outdoors and grows pretty well on it's own in a ever changing mother nature environment.

I am not for or against anybody that charges. But we are not the ones that asked you to join a medical cannabis program without your own game plan.
on the black market it will cost you about 500 a oz easy and you help kill people and support the drug war. With our gray market if it cost 200 an oz you are supplying your local economy and nobody dies.

I shop at price rite because I cannot afford whole foods. Why can't you guys think like that? Second, I may have found one that charges 200 an oz. Have bought a few oz.s, different strains. AAA, a little dry but very nice. New crop coming down so I will do a little more research and let you know. They have openings for more patients so I may share in a little while once a relationship is formed.

So, it is not a pipe dream, it just a hard one to find... Looking since summer, have solicited dozens of CG's, only found one that has been consistant at the 200 mark. That should give you an indication as to how hard it is to find one. I personally plan on becoming a CG once I get my crop growing, when finished, I plan on selling MM at around the 150 range with a sliding scale for those who are less fortunate.

The biggest difference is, I know how to do it right and push those prices across the board legally. When I'm ready, I will share the love so don't fret...

Cheap med's will be hear by summer time if you get off you butts, read the applications and write letters to your local congress or choose to speak at the hearing supporting those CC applicants that seem to have the best prices. Strains can always be added, the price of MM is what affects us most!!!

YOUR COST OF $50 PER OZ IS NUT'S RIGHT NOW AND WILL BE UNTIL IT IS ACTUALLY TRULY LEGAL EINSTEIN!!!!! I have no intereset in making money, I'm not going to waste it with another part-time job with little benefit to me other than some free medicine? I buy more medicine than I need and give it to others for free when I can. So to make it clear as to why the cost's should go up when you take on another patient let me be clear.

More plants + more light & nuet's = more $$$
More plants = more time spent on each plant
More patients = more problems.

Pesonally, I almost got robbed once and had heard of 3 250 CG's getting robbed, so how much is your safty worth brainiac??? One person was already shot and killed regardless of the CG's or alleged thief's presona.

For cryin out loud, the equipment we so called "Keep forever" doesn't last forever you clown! Most of it dies off in less than a year and cost's 100's of dollars to replace. The annual cost of a decent quality perpetual system for more than one patient could run into the thousand's of dollar easy?

I've done the research and worked the numbers, I will charge 150 to 200 an oz. cover all my equipment cost and the time needed until they are paid infull. At which time I would charge an average of 100 to 200 depending on how much you earn while still offering a few slot that will only recommend patients donate around 50 to 100. I will be giving plenty of free med's to the severely impoverished as well. If my other program works well enough, even lower.

Cali charges up to $65 for an eigth an oz. RI is actually on the lower side of the equation even at 300 an oz. Why, because you will need big $$$ if your case goes Fed. Plain and simple... Why do they charge such high prices....so poeple can't flip their medicine for profit on the side!!! Why does it cost do much, because it is still an illegal controlled substance!!! You MM card is not a get outta jail free card buddy, it's just a plastic card with no weight beyond the RI border.

Ironically, the guy who posted the craigslist has more power than you can imagine and he could very well do what he is saying he will do and be quite effective at it. Yet, just another reason why the cost is so high. With head cases out their like this, a lot of good people are going to go down because some idiot heard through a friend that the cost of MM is less than $20. Only to realize that actual costs they came up with was from one of those massive manufacturers of MM with hundreds to thousands of plants being knocked off like an assembly line production plant.

Like I said buddy, do you homework before you print such defamitory statements. The real cost for MM on a small scale of less than 12 flowering plants per 2 month flower cycle is about 50 to 100 per plant with only 1 light which should equal about 1 to 3 oz a plant if your lucky (depending on the wattage). Your numbers are accurate, just not for the low production level of a legitimate CG.... Now if you illegitimate, then the numbers are completely different...lol

I am having a difficult time following people's line of thought here? Marijuana is legal to an extent on state level. Let us be happy about that. Fifty dollars or 300 dollars an ounce there are so many of us that are registered patients and caregivers everybody ends up with different choices. I have to be in complete agreement with hyflyer (sp.) a snitch does deserve special treatment. Remember that every patients arrest takes the program two steps back. Sounds to me that whoever the craigslist poster is that he or she needs to grow more weed and stop buying it. What his excuse besides he is a dealer who wants a better profit line. I know personally I took the route of growing my own when 300 to 400 an ounce no longer became a viable option due to costs of Med strains. Wow, impressively ignorant to the nth degree. Read the compassion center applications, I've read them all and will publish my finding in the next couple of weeks.

In all actuality, no compassion center is selling above the 300 mark (many around the 200 to 250. One, who has my vote, plans on reducing the cost of meds to 100 to 150 over then next 2 to 3 years (Hope Apothocary).

All top named strains provided by almost all applicant.

Fact, the last round of legislation in May of '10 has made it near impossible to get rid of CG's as a defense mechanism to help keep the system honest and the prices reasonable over time. At first, of course people are going to take advantage, its human nature to expoit a good thing. But, the system will eventually balance out, med prices will drop, and those in need will get the med's they need at a reasonable price . I just takes time.
