This is kind of a follow up to the thread, "does space end"
There's something that's called the "boom and bust theory". First you need to consider this: In the physical world, when you do something, there's an effect, and then it returns to its natural state. Now, on to the theory...
It states that the big bang started it all. When the big bang occured, massive amounts of energy were created and it traveled outward in all directions, and will continue outward until it reaches it's limit, then it will return back to its natural state...ie, it will shrink back down until it reaches the state it was in until the bang occured. Then, it starts all over again. With this in mind, it is entirely possible that the universe is on, say, its hundredth rotation and we are living out our hundredth life.
Pretty trippy huh?

booo.
Whoa. That is quite interesting, however if that we're true; everything would be relatively pointless. We would merely dwell the same existance again and again and again, of course basing that opinion that everything would happen over exactly the same. It is possible that it would happen differently each time. If this theory is true than it destroys the theory of 'god' and such, which I don't place any beleif into anyway. Props on the thread.

Maybe everything we do is pointless and were all gonna die in like 15 minutes but at least until then my goal in life is to try to have fun and to smoke lots of pot while doing whatever the hell i end up doing for the rest of my life

Exactly why I love it!

we will die pretty sooner than this time. but yea im with this theory, still it is a lot more complicated than that. and it still is a theory. who knows, maybe we dont even exist

plus, all ppl that beleive in god cant really beleive in this theory(or explain me how), coz if the universe would eventually dissapear, considering god is all what exist, well god would eventually disappear. plus, this theory is known as a cycle, so the universe would always have done this, wich means if tehres a god well i dont beleive in him. or id like him to prove his existence to me.
awww such complicated questions

I read your post...
Yea man, good point. I guess that sorta answers the question, "If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?". Going along with your point, the answer is "no"; we only exist to the people we know, to all others, we are nothing but a grain of sand on the beach. And to give my thoughts on your questions...No, there is no God, and no, we do not have a purpose. It's thought processes like these that reinforce my outlook on, and the way I practice, life; I just go with it man.

First of all, the assumption that everything will return to its original state is a theory of Aristotle that was debunked centuries ago.
The actual theory does exist, with the nearly infinite gravity and such creating a perfect sphere smaller than the smallest particle and booming again.
There are two other possibilities though:
There is the possibility that the explosion had enough energy that it will eventually lead all accelerated particles to escape the original locale's gravity, leading either to the dispersal and ultimate downfall of all energy that exists or to separate smaller universe origins occuring with matter and energy that becomes attracted to other "forsaken" material.
The other possibility is that the heat and light energy that does escape from the original gravity's pull will have an effect on the next cycle and cause each concurrent universe to be ever so slightly different. Life on earth, or even just humanity could only get a single run at this crazy game called existence.
One more thing: religious people have already bastardized that theory to state that god set the cycle in motion and uses it to test humanity repeatedly.
Religion is like a cockroach, or a bacterium: as long as it has a medium, it will take it over, make it its own, and shit out something nobody really wants to touch.

Maybe each rotation is occuring at the same time and all the other big bangs are actually parrallel universes?
