my starting ph(before adjusting or adding nutes) is 7

i mix my nutes to proper ppm, then adjust ph down.

I mix tis all into a res, and handwater my girls...

the thing is, I mix the res up and mix enough for a week or 10 days. I try to mix the day before, and let it all sit for 24 hours before using, then I double check and adjust ph one more time, then I figured it was good, and I would use the solution till it was gone.

I started noticing ph related problems and started checking the res every time I was going to do a feeding, and it was going up in between each feeding. I am using mostly sunshine4 in flower at the moment (about to switch to coco) so I shoot for 6.1-6.2

I used to keep an airstone in my res, and did not notice this happening then (though it may have been happening) and I stopped aerating the res because I heard it wasn't useful, and anaerobic microbes are what we're working with, yada yada.... so is it the anaerobic microbes that are causing the creep? I noticed this was worse when I used carbo load (which is feed for the microbes) Maybe I'll try putting the air stone back and see if this goes away..

This has to be happening in the plant, too!

Or I could just be totally off base w/this.

input appreciated. please save the AN hate for a different thread, I AM switching away from them but have lots of nutes to use up first :)

I would definitely rule out the aeration before I started blaming the nutes.

I ALWAYS aerate a mixed nutrient solution. In my experience not doing so is just asking for trouble.

I also use Advanced.. I haven't noticed a creep up in pH, but I don't bother checking the reservoirs after I initially mix and balance. From what you described, you may want to consider only mixing about 5 days worth at a time. This is working well for me because I flush on the weekends and start the cycle over again with fresh water/nutes for the next ~5 days, depending on the uptake .. I use Rubbermade 18 gal cans, and typically fill them to about the 10 gallon level (~40 L), with one dedicated to veg, 1 for each of my 2 groups of flowering plants (since their needs vary..) for a monthly harvest. Very little waste and no issues.

Good luck!

im not sure where to post this but.......
have you ever heard of a plant visibly quivering or twitching?
1st time grower.
i have an only child, starting to bud female. she is about 2 1/2 ft. with fan leaves about 2,3 and 5"
she is in small closet 4x3.
she gets the ceiling fan from the room with her light, and gets the dark quiet closet for 10 hours (is that enough dark?)
i check on her soon after her lights come on and before i turn on the fan.
well...i usually talk to her and my great dane loves to give her a sniff and kiss. i also stroke the leaves just barely touching the hairs on my finger to her leaves.
so i notice this one leaf twitching....almost twitching one finger leaf over the others...so i touched it again...it responded again...then the others start up so i gave them all a touch. this is before i turn the fan on and the air has no disturbance...zero.
i'm really not that stoned so....hmmmmmmm????
i have heard about this with plants and wonder if that is what is happening.
its quite the trip!
