Alright so im back in the closet again and this time Im gunna LST and Scrog.

I have them Under a 4 bulb t5 fixture right now that they seem to love. If you get it close enough it works really well. They are outgrowing it however and I am going to put my 250 Watt MH in the room to veg them for another couple of weeks. As soon as i gather some funds, i will also be purchasing a 150 watt LED light from STR8outtaweed and using it along side my 250 HPS. I am really anxious to see my results becayse I will be using a combination of T5, HPS, and LED during flower. About 500 watts total.

Here are some pics of a couple of weeks ago before I started training them.

I have three Purple clones, and one mystery plant that I got from seed. It came from some straight killllllleeerrrr herb that i got a couple of monthes back and I was so happy to see some seeds in the bag. If its a female, im gunna clone it and keep it around. If its a male them im gunna isolate it in my other closet and get some pollen. Im gunna breed it with my Purple strain just for the hell of it. Who knows, maybe it will be a good mix.

some pictures i took today.

The Purple strain I have is really branchy and loves it when i bend her over. Things are starting to get crowded under the T5's I need to bring in the HID this weekend. I will also be transplanting into five gallon pots this Saturday.

Last pic is of my new strain. Hopefully its a keeper.

I might go organic on this grow(i havent used any nutrients yet) but was wondering if its really worth it. I know it will taste and smell better, but if its going to dramatically reduce my yield I dont think it worth it, Any Thoughts?

alright so i added the Metal Halide in there and Transplanted into 3 gallon grow bags. Theyre starting to bush up quite nicely.

I plant on switching to flower in maybe 2 weeks. I gotta order my LEDs soon so i can have them in time.

Im suprised at how well theyre growing because i have only giving them nutrients once. I almost feel like Veg nutrients are a waste of money if youve got big pots and quality soil.

FYI: I have NEVER given nutes to cannabis that I grew. This year is the first time I've fertilized, and that was because 1. I went off on a worm farm tangent a while back, and have a load of the good stuff. (heehee) 2. have a pail full of composted horse manure that's been sitting in the greenhouse for a year. 3. all y'all talkin' bout giving yer girls 'nutes', figured maybe I should give it a try.

my point being, (hmm, mebby blazed and don't have a point?) no wait. Point being: you're absolutely right, you can grow weed without adding Anything! The quality of your harvest is going to depend on the quality of your growing medium, whether that is soil or hydro or other. Give me good healthy organic dirt, please and thank you! :hippy:

What kinda soil are you using?

drudown11
07-02-2010, 03:05 PM
I use Fox Farm Ocean Forest. Its not cheap, but Ive used countless other soils and they all had Nutrient defiency or PH issues after a while.

To be completely honest Ive used Miracle grow soil with pretty good results. People like to fert the shit out of there small vegging plants when they have 3 gallons of soil theyve yet to grow into. Plants need to use the nutrients in the soil before you give them more.

I honestly believe that anyone who can follow directions and read a book, can grow exceptional marijuana, Its the experienced growers that can yield twice as much with the same conditions.

Now when it comes to flower, Ive seen firsthand what proper fertalization can do in terms of yield and quality.Indoors you are in a controlled environment. Plants roots are limited by the size of the pots so after a while, your going to need to fertalize. Outdoors you can just let it grow, indoors you are nature.

True that. Very soon, i will be starting all over learning how to do it indoors.

i re organized the room and added a 171 CFM fan in the mix. By god does that thing suck, all of my heat issues as well as odor issues are gone. No carbon filter needed. The things is overkill, as it sucks the plastic door off!!! I have to create an intake hole before i flower and re seal it all.

I re potted them, re LST'd them, and dipped them in Great white Mychorrizae at transplant. I will be pulling my plastic screen over pretty soon and starting to train them more.

So i dont have the money for the LEDs this time around, so im gunna make buy some cfls and make a little reflector. An added 100 watts of red light during flower will only help. I will be using MH to control stretch for the first 3 weeks of flower, then switching over to the HPS.

Still no nutrients, except for silica.

alright so i made a 84 watt cfl fixture. I have the warm 2700k bulbs that give off 2,600 lumens a piece. I switched the lights to 13/11 a week ago and im already starting to see little hairs popping out everywhere.

I gave them a slight foliar feed with Purple maxx the other day. I flushed them clearex before i flowered them and will start them on my bloom nutrient schedule asap.

Things are starting to get very big in here. I am gunna keep the MH bulb in there for another 7 days in order to reduce the stretch. I will then use the HPS until the end.

One of the picture shows how i lollipop the plants and trim off the bottom. It doesnt grow into anything worth while anyways so i consider it a waste of valuable nutrients and energy.

Keep in mind that i never topped this plant or fimmed it. All i did was use LST and veg for 4 weeks.

Looking awesome and healthy. Great job on the LST work also.
I am also doing a LST then SCROG grow at the moment, but yours has gone way better than mine so far. Things are looking up though.
When are you going to put the screen on?
Happy Growing, and here's best wishes for a great yield.

I decided not to use the screen. It would be a real pain in the ass to string it up correctly. I have some bamboo stakes and some wire ties that i will be using instead.

I have found that the LST method works out better with clones. Plants from seed have symetrical branches in early beg so things get really crowded when i bend them over. Some of the problems you are having could be strain related. Sativas are naturally tall and branchy so you you LST them they almost train themselves. Indicas tend to have big, wide fan leaves that cover the canopy and make LST more diffucult.

Centrifugal fan-100$
250 hps/mh= 240$
4 bulb t5 fixture-140$
4 inch booster fan-40$
4 inch Crabon filter- 70 $
CFl bulbs and fixture-40$
Nutrients, soil, pots, -150+$(i have a custom nutrient schedule i have composed for my plants based on past grows)
PH kit/ PH up & down-20$
PPM tester-50$
Extension Cords/timers-40$
Experience with the same environmental conditions, strains, and a secure location- PRICELESS

I acquired all of these over time, but i would say i have maybe 900 into it. Im am always trying to improve my setup and growing skills so i am constantly aqcuiring new methods and technology.
A quarter pound of my bud goes for 1100 so i made my money back 4 harvests ago. I average about a gram per watt of light. so i plant on getting maybe 450 grams out of this grow. I think i can do more than that,

Ive spent quite a bit on my setup and honestly, its worth every last penny.

The lessons and knowledge ive aqcuired through growing cannabis are tools that i will use for the rest of my life. Money cant justify that.

Alright so theyre about 10 days into flower now and stretching for the sky.

Im really confused because I already have buds on my 3 plants from clone. Its only 10 days into flowering...this has never happened before. Its usually about 14 days before i even start seeing the formation of buds. This time around i started seeing buds on day 8 of flower.

I think the foliar feed of the Purple Maxx is the culprit. Its the only thing i have done different. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS STUFF?

canniwhatsis

My GDP does that without any anything extra,... around day8-10 buds start forming,... and it's frosting up with trichs during the 3rd week. Is this your first run with the purples?

I changed the Lights in the t5 fixture(2 3000k bulbs, 6400 blue) and I changed to a HPS bulb.

Very nice looking. Were you still going to get the LEDs?

My next grow I wont be using my hps due to heat and noise (fans). I have a 90w ufo that ive used before with good results but im still trying to decide if I want to get a big LED or T5s or a mix of both.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your plants,... and if the Purplemax did anything I cant say.

So far every one of my purple's has been early to the show,... and I don't think thats bad! :rastasmoke:

the only reason i question the purple maxx is because i have one plant that i did not foliar feed. That plant has buds, but arent nearly as devoloped as the other ones.

GToD, I was going to go with the LED's but i dont have the $$$.

I love T5's. You can purchase bulbs and blend the spectrum for flowering or vegatative growth. If you put them close enough, you can get some really nice results(i recommend LST or SCROG with T5's, they dont pentrate worth a shit.)

If you wanna see what T5's can really do, go the the Attitude seedbank site and look the the TGA/Subcool Seeds. All of those buds were grown with ONLY T5's. The weight might be an issue, but qaulity isnt!

She's Shoehorned off in the back of the flower cabinet on a 2'x2' screen with 400w HPS shining down,..... It's only a 2.5x4.5' cabinet anyway, so she's hogging almost 1/2 of it!

23 days flower.

I Foliar fed with 5 ml purple max, and gave them a 500 ppm nutrient solution.

Today I just flushed them with clearex, and gave them a good spray down with water to clean out any purple maxx that clogged the stomata.

Im seeing some nice buds and trichome developement and everything is going smoothly(other than the fact that my big sativa plant is so fucking tall and lanky.)

Looking good, I also love the fact that they're in the shade of the parts truck.
If you have aphids, you should consider killing any nearby ants too. I have heard that ants will place them on your plants so they can come back later and "harvest" them.

Happy Growing:hippy:

going through a heat spell around here. Temps are something reaching the high 80's and it even peaked out at 90 degrees a few days ago. Its suppose to cool down over the next week so I am not to worried about it. The plants aren't really showing any signs of stress so I think im in the clear.

I am glad to say that I just enrolled back into school today. My tuition will be paid for with Marijuana money. Thats the kind of "black market" activites my customers fund. Finally have some positive direction in my life again. Lets all smoke a Doobie laced with Hash in celebration!::jointsmile:

hey, congrats about the school, dru!!! good for you! :jumphappy: i hope you find, like i did, that when ya go back to school, it's lots easier than it was the first time (or two) around. i figured what i learned from a masters degree was how to give the professors exactly what they wanted. worked for them, worked for getting me good grades, and now i do what I want!

your plants are bootiful, too. i hope the spider mites don't become too much of a prob.

whoah!!! Azamax killed the bastards dead after a few days. Thats some good shit. Whenever I foliar feed I have been adding a Fungicide called Serenade. Its some of the Rankest shit I have ever smelt!!! I spray the plants and they no longer smell like marjiauan, only like stinky feet.
