Okay I have two sprouts that are looking pretty good so far outside and one that just popped inside. I found some mg water soluble plant food, is this something I should use, if it is when should I start using it?
My other question is, I have my sprout inside in just alright soil it was a last resort thing but I finally got time and found some excellent natural soil outside, should I wait till my seedling gets bigger or should I move it now?
Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks

I Dont think they were getting enough light when they were inside... kind of small for 2 1/2 weeks. I generally dont feel comfortable putting my plants in their outdoor location until they are at least a month old. Putting them outside when they are a little stronger and more mature really increases your chances of success.
If Im starting it outdoors I put them in cups before I transplant them in the ground. It can be rough out their for seedlings and starting them in cups helps.

First pic looks good ,hard to tell from 2nd & 3rd pics as they're out of focus ,if your certain they were ganja seeds(lol) don't worry too much ,you will get some odd shape leaves until it grows out more ,I have got some funny twisted leaves were the fingers overlap this year.
EDIT=I agree with MD maybe you should of let them get a bit bigger in pots and have a better root system ,but nevermind.

i usually just put em out in a small cup that was used for like flowers at the store it has the holes in it at the bottom.. you need holes for drainage.. i put em bout half a finger into the dirt and i usually dont fert till its about 6 in or so and i start with 1/4 dose and go up gradually as i see it can take it... i accidentally watered one of my seedlings with my fert water the other day and it burnt it pretty bad.. also.. to me that looks like it might be the result of a bug attack.. or could be cuz the seed shell didnt fall off in time..

Yeah i agree with keeping them inside for longer till they are a lil bigger, cuz my 2 oldest plants i let them grow indoors for the whole month of march and but them outside the first week in april. And they are doing good, i have 4 seedlings that i put out at like 2 weeks old and they have not been doing so good they are still alive but i blame that on tha bad storm we had lastweek.
You should try and get some 2 liter or 3 liter clear or green plastic soda bottles and cut tha bottems off then put them over your lil seedlings. This will keep them safe from tha elements but take the top off so they can get air. You could poke holes in tha sides of them to so you get more air flow make, sure ya push tha bottles in tha dirt like an inch so that the wind rain or w.e does not blow it over.

man you need to put more soil in those cups and yes it could but streaching you should try putting something white behind it so that way it will reflect more light on it or just put them outside while they are still in cups somewhere they get sunlight all day and then bring them in at night or buy a couple cfls and veg them inside untill they are big enough to be planted outside

you might want to invest in some good potting soil so when ya get ready to put them outside you can dig a hole fill it with good soil and plant them in it

ok well had to do that to my 2 oldest plants for a month so its just um just put white printer paper ontop of the box and then tape some to tha sid of tha box thats behind tha plnts and some on the plants left and right so that they can get as much light as they can this will also stop some of the streching and tha bending towards tha window as the sun goes down

well get something they can set on and do tha paper thing im telling you it will be brighter i mean is the window a good window no one is gonna drive up and see them sitting in tha window or anything if so then just get a box table anything that is as tall as ya window sill or w.e it can be a lil shorter if you dont want them to be seen

When i start my plants as seedlings I like to fill my cup to just under the brim.... much more soil for the roots to start training and it also bring the plants closer to the light, which usually helps avoid stretching. just fyi

You might try putting it outside someplace in the cup to let the wind straighten the stem before putting it into the ground. Just put it out a few hours a day, it wont hurt it and thats what im doing now. Helps with all that fresh air it will get too.
Good luck man:rasta:

Okay yeah thanks I'll get it outside somedays this week but I went to check on my plants today and the goofy plant hasn't grown hardly at all in the last four or five days but I guess we'll see what happens.
Since I put more dirt in the cup it seems like it's been growing alot faster and is looking really healthy.

They may be growing roots right now that could be why you have not seen much plant growth but soon as thats over the plants will start to shoot up. You said that the ones outside are 3 weeks old well then they are old enough for you to try giving one some nutes and see if it helps. Id try it only on one so you don't risk losing all ya lil girls.
How often do ya water?.. since your outdoors, you prob will only have to water every 7 days or every 2 weeks depending on what region you live in and how often ya get rain. But during summer if it gets really hot&dry with hardly any rain you will have to water a lot more maybe even twice a week. But be careful not to over water them or water to often you want your roots to grow deep down searching for water so you have a bigger root system which later on will pay off with a bigger and better yield.
First time users guide to using veg/flower nutes.
1) Add only 1/4 of the recommended amount of veg nutes per gallon of water the first time you use the nutes. If there are no signs of over feeding repeat this at least 2 times before upping the amount of nutes. This allows your plants time to adjust to the nutes without over feeding and stressing your plant to death. Only feed them every other time you water and make sure to keep an eye out for signs of over feeding/nute burn.
2) OK if things are looking good, which they should be with no signs of over feeding your plants should be at least double there size than they are now. So when it comes time to feed them up the dose of nutes to 1/2 strength and repeat just like in step one.
3) Now if things are still going good and they are still not showing any signs of nute burn then you have 2 choices. You can play it safe and up the dose to 3/4 strength and repeat as you did before or you can just give it a full strength dose of nutes. I am sure if you get this far you will be feeding all of them by now, so you might only want to give one of them a full dose and see how it does. Before feeding them all at full strength if all goes well with the one plant at full strength then you can feed the others at full strength come the next feeding.
Flower Nutes.
1) After getting yourself some flower nutes and your sure your plants are female soon as they start to flower cut the veg nutes out and just add 1/4 the recommended dose of flower nutes. Just to kinda get them used to it and to make sure you don't over feed or stress them at all.
Because you can get away with stressing them in veg some but in flower its something you dont want to do. (Or maybe a week or 2 before they start to flower if you are able to tell you can use 1/4 the recommended dose of flower nutes mixed in with 3/4 strength veg nutes or 1/2 strength veg nutes just to kinda give them a lil push from veg to flower.)
2) Well now after the first feeding of just flower nutes at 1/4 the recommended dose or if ya did the veg/flower mix of nutes the last time ya fed your plants. Does not matter but for the next feeding use 1/2 of the recommended dose of flower nutes this time. Do not use any veg nutes just strait flower nutes from now own or only the other nutes that your supposed use with your flower nutes or during flower this all depends on what brand of nutes ya are using.
3) Now repeat the same thing as step 2 if they are looking good with no signs of over feeding but up the dose again to 3/4 the recommended dose plus the other nutes that go with it or are used during flower also depending on the brand you can get a feeding chart that tells you to add which nutes and when.
4) OK now if you really wanna play it safe and not take the risk of over feeding then you can repeat each dose at least once. Or you can just repeat step three once id just repeat step 3 once myself just to be safe but only once.
IMO you do not want to take as long getting your plants used to the flower nutes as you do in veg. Plus they will already be used to the veg nutes so they are less likely to get nute burn then they were before having been fed any nutes.
I am in no way an expert but this is the way i do it if anything is wrong please correct me people.:jointsmile:

Thats why i told you to put it outside, the wind will strengthen the stem. Fill the cup up and mound it around the stem, or it will just fold over and die. The stem gets so long then drys out someplace and thats it. The fan or wind will build it up for outdoor living. Even growing inside ya need a fan to build up the stem to support the plant.
Top at 3rd or 4th node.

soapy water will do it but you will have to put it on either really early before the sun is out or before dark cuz the water will cause the sun to burn ya plant and you will have to re apply it after it rains

Leave every spider web ya find as it will help with the bugs. And a couple squirts of that liquid soap in a gallon jug will work for the bugs, you need to re apply after it rains tho as it washes it off. But after it gets bigger, the bugs are not as bad. The holes could also be from dew on the leaves, then the sun uses the dew drops like a magnifying glass to burn holes in the leaves. This is why you need to put the soapy water on after sun set or really close to it:jointsmile:
I hope this helps.:)

I have a few that age and there about the same size. You might want to clear all the growth around your plant out. The bugs are bad and snails worse this year for me. But the less growth around them the better the plant will use the nutes/ferts and not the weeds. Also, if your getting rain a lot, use the ferts every time it rains as the ferts will be washed down into your roots, just where ya want them. Then if it rains again, give more ferts. Its rained so much that i haven't gave just plain water all year. But, its raining a lot, so after every rain, i shoot the ferts and my plants are growing great. Check out my thread its in here, or my Sig.
Good luck bro:rasta:

It should say on the box, the N-P-K, like im using 15-20-15. But yeah id give what it says. Then give water. If the ferts looked like they made the plant happy, green, healthy and all give more. Just watch your plants grow man, its important to see what they do and how it happens, which by reading in here will give you that. Keep your area clear and keep giving the ferts, with water in between. If it rains give ferts. Just keep pushing the plant and if it gets burnt a bit, just back off for a bit. It will recover so add the ferts as much as ya can, but plan water in between in less it rains, if so more ferts.
Keep the pics coming, doesnt matter if its from your phone. This way we can trouble shoot for ya. Looking great so far:thumbsup:

On the box of the MG nutes it said to mix 1/4 teaspoon for a gallon of water.....is that really all it takes?
Does the box of mg nutes include that lil green spoon thingy??.. Well all i did was fill the big end of the spoon only 1/4th full for my first feeding with it then when it came time feed again and i had not seen any nute burn i just repeated what i did the first time. And the feeding after that i bumped it up to 1/2 strength then if there is no nute burn i feed at 1/2 strength once moren Now finally the next feeding i was filling the big end of the spoon up full and thats what i feed them now. Just make sure to water with just plain water between feedings.
and do what LSY says about adding the nutes when it rains i do that to :jointsmile::thumbsup::thumbsup:

well its not just after its really like right before it rains or like if it has been raining and it stops for a lil while but its supposed to rain again that afternoon or night you can give it a strong feeding of nutes and when it rains it will not be so strong and the plant will shoot up

Hey I'm new to this forum, and I'm new to growing. This is my first attempt at growing cannabis, and I had originally believed that it was a simple process (it's a weed, right?) that would pretty much guide itself. I'm now discovering that may not be the case though...
I am doing an outdoor grow, though I have the plants in containers of potting soil (miracle grow with extended nutrient release, supposedly really good for flowering plants). I have four plants, all about five weeks old. They have four tiers of branches each. They are each a little over a foot tall. I have not added any additional nutrients/fertilizers.
I have several questions, as my instinct tells me that it's approaching time to do SOMETHING, though it's escaping me what that could be. Should I top them or prune them? Should I begin adding nutrients? I've noticed some reddening on the stems, and the leaves on the bottom branches are a bit yellow, and the tips of those leaves are brown. However, the new growth looks very healthy.
By the way, I don't know the strains. They are quality seeds, as I smoked the buds they came from.
Searching the grow FAQs is proving to be...difficult. If anyone could give me just some basic pointers or let me know if I'm on the right track that would be much appreciated.
Thanks guys

07-11-2010, 11:38 PM
I went and checked on my bigger one and i found it layed over on the dirt...it must of blown over from that nights storm. I picked it back up and put a stake up for support. It has a slight bend in the stem because of growing up after it fell down
StickyBuds1987
07-12-2010, 12:39 AM
it will straiten back out soon man
GoodstuffYeahs
07-12-2010, 01:58 AM
Idk we'll see cuz it has like an "s" curve in the stem and it's past that growing point. I just hope it recovers fully and continues maturing.
GoodstuffYeahs
07-13-2010, 02:17 AM
I'm noticing more and more that the bottom few sets are starting to get really droopy and a little yellow but the higher newer leaves are green and healthy is that something i can change or is that just how it is. It has already dropped three sets of leaves counting the very first ones they get.
StickyBuds1987
07-13-2010, 04:39 AM
well the plants will lose most of the older leaves at the very bottom of a plant so it can focus on the new growth and stuff
GoodstuffYeahs
07-13-2010, 05:02 PM
Will bud still grow at these points where the leaves fell off?

07-13-2010, 05:26 PM
Went and checked on my bigger one just now and it's got alot more growth in the nodes, is that normal before sexing? sorry the close up is blurry but it's what i got.
If anyone has a name i should call this one please chime in i'm getting sick of calling it my bigger one.....lol

And if you look closely it looks as though theres multiple sets of fan leaves growning out of the nodes.

my smaller plant is being light starved so in a little bit when it cools off a little bit i'm gonna go back there with a saw and do some cutting of trees to help my little guy out i'll show some before and after pics of the above canopy. By starved of light i mean it gets no direct sunlight all day cuz so many leaves grew in that i didn't expect so it's pretty scrawny.
StickyBuds1987
07-16-2010, 07:25 AM

One way to water very slowly while you are gone is to get a couple of empty plastic gallon milk cartons, punch a small hole in the bottom for a "drip" and fill with water, set them down close to where you think the roots are.
nugssgalore
08-18-2010, 09:02 PM
oh wait, did you say you would be gone for 2 weeks?? Yikes, my idea might not work for that long..if I were you I would definitely flood the ground really good before you leave, might take it a week to dry out and then she might have sent down enough roots to be good for another week. Good luck.
GoodstuffYeahs
08-18-2010, 10:15 PM
