I just got an email that there will be some deliveries of MM in my area next month. I am still waiting on my medical records. It has been over a month and I have called them NUMEROUS times to get this expedited. I'm not going to make it in time for the delivery. I stopped taking the Paxil to get it out of my system. Now I'm going through withdrawals and dealing with a full onslaught of my PTSD. I'm about ready to just give it all up.

Why does this have to be so damn hard?

TS where are you in the DOH process?
PTSD only requires 1 recommendation from a Psychiatrist.

You know, I have been there my friend. Dont despair. Be really calm and call the DOH and SWEETLY inquire. I know it is double difficult, but it CAN be done.

I called one line and got an answering machine saying it could be a couple of weeks. But I called another number listed there on the website and got a very nice young woman who did everything she could. I know that the folks in this office are as good as it gets. Give it a try. Dont give up.

And Paxil is rough too. I had a lot of bad side affects and withdrawls were tough. It isnt the end of the world but it seems like it is. Soothe yourself and keep your cool. This is a battle that you can win if you hang in there!

I'd rather not get busted. The cops here are known as the Aryan Brotherhood. They act like a bunch of Marine wanna-be's. I'm going to do this legally.

The records are in Utah. I have been calling that damn hospital for 3 weeks after the first initial call. I've heard every excuse under the sun. I'm about ready to drive up there and look for them myself.

I'm seriously considering going back on the Paxil and just forgetting about MM. It's too damn hard to get the process going.

My prayers are with you, for myself, though, I've all but given up.

It shouldn't be so hard to use medicine provided by the Earth, when it is so easy to use chemicals that man has made.

Sam,

Not knowing your situation, you mentioned that your records were in Utah. Are you a resident of Utah or NM? The reason I ask is that perhaps if you are still a resident of Utah, NM may be holding something up because of that. Also, if you have filled out the app, submitted it, and you have the signature of your doc here...like others have said...give the DOH a call.

Just a thought....

GOOD LUCK!

I am from New Mexico and live here now. I lived in Utah for 4 years to undergo treatment I couldn't get here. I moved back in 2002. They had me on Wellbutrin, Risperdal, Depakote and Restoril. I was practically a zombie. I took myself off those drugs and switched to Paxil. Still a zombie and some serious side effects. My doctor had me try different dosages and I still had problems with side effects. My doctor here in New Mexico will not give me a signature. He's Mormon. I have to try another doctor but I have to get my records from Utah. I'm going around in circles here.

While I lived in Utah there was a coworker of mine that had PTSD as well. She had me try some marijuana. I slept like a baby and woke up refreshed. Not groggy or befuddled like you get with pharmaceuticals. I was amazed. She ended up getting busted and lost her job. I felt so sorry for her. It was a treatment that was working and she was punished for it. That's not something I want to risk.

Thanks for the support folks. I don't know if it's worth the anxiety and frustration to keep trying to get a MM card.

I really appreciate the support. Thank God there are people like you who are willing to help a complete stranger. :)

By the way, I called again today and was told the records have not been sent yet. The person I spoke to didn't know why they haven't been sent but would get with the manager to see what the hold up was. This is the third time they've said this to me.

Next time you get them on the phone and they say that tell them you will hold on while they check. Then they will actually have to do a little work.

I finally got the medical records and I see the diagnosis of PTSD, plain as day. Do I have to go through my physician or can I bypass him altogether since the paperwork is listing the diagnosis?

Thanks for all the support and putting up with my bullshit. :p

You need a NM Psychiatrist to make the MMJ recommendation for PTSD. Make an appointment with one but first call them and make sure they will make an MMJ recommendation, Then take your papers to them showing the diagnosis.
That's pretty much it.

Take the last Santa Fe exit..St. Francis. go to the St. Michaels exit and turn right. Go about 1/4 mile and you will be at the St. Vincent hospital (I know... lots of saints). Across the street (south) of the hospital is Butolph road. The very first right off Butolph is your turn. Look for the big flag. I beleive this will be the place you are talking about.

The Medical MJ Evaluations Clinic website. :)

I beleive what Coolslayer was referring to was this....

The doctor you are going to is NOT a psychiatrist, and it takes a psychiatrist to do the diagnosis. Dont get caught in a bind. The doctor you are going to will definitely give a referral for MC, bu the DOH needs a psychiatrist's diagnosis for PTSD.

If you dont have a diagnosis for PTSD in New Mexico for a psychiatrist, get one. There are several in Santa Fe. Get the yellow pages and start calling. You will find one within an hour. I wish I could tell you the name of a fellow but I just cant. I found him cold, by just picking up the phone book and calling so you can do it as well.

If you have any paper supporting your diagnosis take it with you. It will only take a couple of hours visit and he will fax your app over to the DOH.

Dont make the trip and spend the money for a referral that wont work for you. The doc you spoke of is great, but cant do the PTSD thing.

That's what I was waiting for from Utah. The person I spoke to said my Utah evaluation and diagnosis for fine. He said I didn't need a diagnosis from New Mexico. All he had to do was the MM recommendation.

I hope I'm not taking a four hour trip for nothing. :(

A recommendation must come from a licensed Doctor in NM who can write prescriptions.
Your file can come from another State so the local Doc can review it.

That's why I'm going to Santa Fe. My regular physician already said he will not give me a recommend for MM. I set up an appointment with this evaluation clinic to get the recommendation from their doctor.

Sam,

Wriite them a letter when you apply...Like a cover letter. Tell them if they need any information or have questions to call you. Make sure to leave good contact info. They cant really deny you a card, and they dont really want to. They just want to make certain you indeed have a qualifying condition. If you do you are riding high my friend!

Hey, and if you have a spot to grow, request a grower's permit. Being self sufficient is the only way to guarantee you have medicine when you need it.

Just got back from Santa Fe (3 1/2 hours there and back). The doctor was completely cool. I mean REALLY cool. He drilled me on my condition and made sure I was the real deal. He signed off on it and I'm mailing it first thing tomorrow. He said I'm a prime candidate for MM.

The intern I talked to was from Gallup originally, like me, and we found out that we share some relatives. All in all it was a pretty good day. I found the doctor's office without too much trouble.

BUT

I couldn't find the Department of Health to save my life. I finally had to give up and go home. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I wrote the address down wrong. Instead 1190 St. Francis, I was searching for 1109 St. Francis.

I wish this doctor was my regular doctor. ;)
