View Full Version : Kandy Kush (fem) & Blue Widow (fem)

I'm in search of "moms". :)
This grow is hopefully a first step toward finding some worthwhile keepers.

Kandy Kush is: OG Kush x Train Wreck
Blue Widow is: Blueberry x White Widow

The "plan" is to grow out 4 plants at a time in a DR80 grow-tent. This time out, in addition to the 2 fem beans mentioned, there are 2 bag-seeds I've gotta check. The 2 fem are the center of attention, so they'll get catered to.

"Planning" on a 6-7 week veg, under a 400W Eye Hortilux Blue.
Grow is soil, and will be using Fox Farm nutrients.

Since I'm *quite* the procrastinator, Sherman will set the "Way-Back Machine" for November 8, 2009. I'll try to whip through this and get caught up over the next day or two.

11/08: Expanded 12 peat-pucks with water+1 drop Superthrive. Placed the dry seeds in pucks, covered with dome and maintained ~83F.

11/10: (Day 1) BW & KK as well as 2 others have broke ground after 48 hrs. Over the next 12 hours, the remaining 8 break through. I'm pretty psyched about the KK, it was the *smallest* bean I'd *ever* tried to grow. If it hadn't been so pricey, I wouldn't have bothered with it, at all.

11/12: (Day 3) Into the 16 oz cups! Red, of course. :D Cups contain Black Gold Seedling mix & worm castings, mixed 3:1

11/14: (day 4) The light has been on 24/0 and has been about 3 feet above the plants. Today I switched to 18/6 and lowerered the light to about 2 feet.

11/15: (day 5) Lowered light to ~18" Had to adjust the fan a little, the delicate stem on the KK is leaning a bit.

11/16: (day 6) Lights down to 12" above plants.

11/17: (day 7) Changed intake location. Temps down to 76F and able to throttle down fan to about 50%, they had been running ~78F w/fan at 60%. Lowered light another couple inches to about 10" over.

It's looking like the cooler weather may allow for more lighting in the tent. I had an old 400W MH ballast fall into my lap this week. I'm looking into a cool-tube and a conversion bulb to possibly use this as supplemental light for flowering.

11/18: (day 8) Not much to report. Light still @ 10", temp @75F.

11/21: (day11) Plants aren't looking very happy, I probably should have transplanted a couple days ago. They'll go into 7" pots tomorrow.

11/22: (day 12) Transplanted into the 7" pots today. Soil is a 50/50 mix of MG and FFOF (I've got a pile of MG to use up) to which I've added about 10% each of worm castings, perlite and vermiculite. Also added a couple healthy tablespoonsful of seabird guano.

Thanks for the compliment, and the good thoughts! Glad to have your experienced eyes look things over.

Onward...

11/25: (day 15) I don't feed any nutrients for the first 2 weeks, there's more than enough goodies in the soil. Today they get the first taste of the FF system. Everybody took about 20 oz (pH'd @ 6.5) mixed @ 50% of the FF week 2 schedule.

They look a little sad, they've been out of the tent for a couple hours while I did house cleaning. :wtf: Thanksgiving means relocating the tent for a couple of days. :wtf:

11/27: (day 17) Still got guests in the house , just made a quick check and grabbed a couple shots. (I could use a couple "shots" at that point, lol.)

The tents purrin' away in the garage with a small kerosene heater keeping things pretty danged cozy. Light-on temps out there have been in the mid 80's. I'm not too concerned with the added heat, hoping the extra CO2 from the heater lets 'em enjoy themselves. (like a day at the beach) ;) They *do* look pretty happy!

First pic is another shot from day 17.

I should have explained the layout of the group shots, for anyone trying to spot the "stars" of the grow. Everyone has a tag, which becomes apparent later. The 2 center-most spots in the 12-pot layout are where the BW and KK are found. BW is to the left. In the group shots the KK is a bit of a runt. :wtf:

11/28: (day 18) Moving back into the house today, the guests have departed! I'm loving the tent, being able to move everything like that was nice.

Yikes! The kids are pretty thirsty! The pots are light as a feather! Everybody takes about 20 oz of pH'd 6.5 with a tsp/gal of molasses. I water with distilled or RO water, tap water here reminds me of a Belize swamp...I think I'd prefer the swamp-water. :(

Here's everybody lined up for a drink and then back in. Rearranged a few plants to try and manipulate the canopy a little, a few are getting ahead of the others.

12/1: (day 21) Feeding day. All get the FF week 3 schedule @ full strength. A couple suspected males get a rather poor "fim" attempt to slow 'em down. One gets the crush-and-bend treatment. The torture begins. :p The group shot is before any "alterations" to the suspected males. There are some clear favorites emerging from the 2 bag-seed groups.

Hindsight is 20/20: :error:
At this point I probably *should* have culled the 3 plants showing the most masculine traits and went to the 2 gallon pots. I went the lazy route, deciding to wait and see if I'd get any definite indications of sex @ 4 weeks. The plants look ok, *but* they are more crowded now than they need to be. So, I've cut down the available light to the plants I'm keeping, by keeping plants that will need to be culled anyway. Genius!

EvilCartman
12-11-2009, 09:38 PM
12/5: (day 25) No major problems, just a bit crowded.
Plants are using about 16 oz every 2 days. I've let the plants grow up to the light, maintaining about 2-3" of space below the glass of the reflector. I'm varying the reflectors' position slightly, by sliding it in and out on the supports, to try and improve light penetration.

12/7: (day 27) Everybody out for inspection and feeding! FF week 3 @ full strength and since it's so close to week 4 they get a 1/4 tsp/gal of the Open Sesame.

I broke 'em down into 3 groups:
Group 1: Almost certainly male.
Group 2: I'm leaning toward female, but, there are some strong male characteristics showing, too.
Group 3: The best shot at life, beyond Saturday. ;) These are most certainly females. The only one to show any definitive pre-flower is the KK. Duh. Not exactly news...

Day 27 pics. The two stars of the show. :)

Pic 4 is an earlier side by side, for comparison.

The KK has caught up to and shot past the others. I know the OG is a runner, but I've never seen the Train Wreck gro out. She'll probably *really* take off after the flip! The growth spurt is pretty apparent in those pics,...and that was 4 days ago.

Tomorrow is transplant day. Due to the KK's pace, I'm skipping the 2 gallon transplant and going straight to the 5's. Another 7 days veg in the 5's will be a lil' shy of my original plan of 42-49 days, but close enough for me. I'd hate to run out of headroom. :o

Cool, that's it. Tomorrow brings it current. After that, weekly updates. :)

I grew out some KK earlier this year. I flipped them into flowering at 16" and they finished off at 46". Each plant yielded 2 quart jars of bud, nicely crystal coated and smelling sweet/dank. No more than 2-3 hits or you're off to "meditation land" in terms of power, too.

Yours is off to a fine start that will bring you a joyous harvest!

Good luck,
M.P.

if your worried about head room its always good to flower early.....even if you have the slightest bit of doubt....flower early!

Personally, when running new strains i like to flower them early anyways to find out the characteristics of the strain....i always take cuts of every plant and label them.....because some of those slow veggers or mutants; sometime turn out to be the best plants..

THe first run with a new strain is like a learning curve....i think its my 4 run with the purple wreck and i think ive finally found her sweet spot! sometimes the first time will be the best, but most of the time it wont! Good luck...the KK looks real interesting....and everything looks great~

Nice, the meds sound like something to look forward to.

Thanks for lookin' in and for the excellent advice. I covet your purple!

After these two posts I'm more concerned than before. :D Thanks a bunch!! :D

Plan B: I anticipated *some* height issues, so the 5 gal are a low-profile tub style as opposed to a bucket, that buys a few inches. To squeak out another few inches, I'll go with a standard transplant, and the 7 day post-transplant veg will be cut down to just 3 days, just enough to let her settle in...then flip!

I hope that works. Right now, KK is sitting in there @~19". My math says it's time for a bigger tent! :error: lol, never a dull moment. Thanks again, guys.

you might even think about topping them about 3-4 days into flower.....this is a great last attempt to save some height issues....just to make sure you dont have to run into problems in the future!

Hey! Thanks MB! :)

12/12: (day 32) Transplant/feeding day!

Put 4 plants into the 5 gallon pots: BW, KK, X1d, X2d.
All 4 are showing pre-flowers.
Soil is FFOF with additional perlite and vermiculite added. Soil + amendments mixed ~5:1. 1/2 tbsp each of Indonesian & Jamaican bat guano mixed into top couple inches of each pot.

Squeezed in a 5th plant in a 2 gallon. Plant X1f looks pretty good to me, no pre-flowers, but very "girly" looking. :) This one will stick around as long as it doesn't get in the way. I ran out of FFOF, this one is in MG with added perlite. Mixed about 3:1.

Everybody got the FF Nutrients following week 4 schedule @ 100%.

Pay no attention to the stragglers in the 2 small pots. :wtf: They are only there until they declare sex. If they are girls they'll get a new home, elsewhere.

The KK is on the run! ;) Gotta get some stuff to stick under the other pots to even things out. I did the BOG style transplant on the other 3 to try and raise 'em up a bit. There's still a bit of difference in the heights.

Gonna keep a close eye on KK! If it looks like she's gonna hit the ceiling, I'll get her what she needs.

Barring any disasters, the first 12 hr night will be Tues. (35 day veg)

12/16: (Day 36) Everybody out for a good soaking.
No problems,..yet. ;)

The plant in the 2 gallon pot is throwing pre-flowers now. All five are females. (at least, for now ) :D

The Blue Widow is a real sturdy plant, I hope there's a good reason for those sturdy stems. :) In contrast, everything about the Kandy Kush is delicate. The KK will need some support real soon, she really sways a good bit in the gentle breeze from the fans.

Changed out the MH bulb for the Eye Hortilux EN Super HPS, gave the reflector & glass a good cleaning and re-set the light timer. Tonight should be the first long night.

12/17 (Day 37) Oops. :i feel stupid:
I programmed the timer for 2 "on" events. This time, for sure... FLIP!

Pics are from day 36.

Here we are @ the end of veg, 37 days;

BW is @ 20"

KK is @ 24"

Now, the fun starts. :)

Took small cuts off of all five plants. Three each from the BW & KK, one each from the others. Put the cuts into a small home-made bubble-cloner.

This is the first time really using this contraption. :wtf: Wish me luck!
The cuts got a slathering of "Olivias Cloning Gel" (that stuff looks disgusting ) and the water (~ 2 gals) got a couple drops of Superthrive added. Temperature in the dome is about 73F and the clones are lit by one 26 watt CFL, about 15" away.

?? Is the water temp in the cloner very important ?? Should it be warmer than 73F?

MerryPrankster..... If you happen to see this and don't mind answering a couple Q's. I went lookin' for your KK, it certainly looked sweet @ 5 weeks. I was wondering how long she goes in flower, and how far into flower she stretches.

That's it for now. I am outa here for a 10 day stretch. The girls are in capable hands. Here's a couple pre-flower and cloner shots. :)

EvilC,
There may be more than one phenotype, so I'll just tell you what happened with mine.

I took my KK at 68 days (DWC under 300watts LED). The trichs were almost all milky with just a few clear. I was looking for a "heady" not couch lock effect, which worked out just fine. A week or so more wouldn't have hurt, plus it was probably a bit faster due to the DWC.

The stretch lasted 2-2 1/2 weeks, the it just exlodes with buds gaining very little more height.

I actually had two, but gave the other one away to a friend after I had bonsia'd it. He is flowring it, but I haven't gotten over to see it just yet.

Anyway if you get to read this have a Happy Holiday!

M.P.

Hope ya'll had a Merry X-mas! :madnoel: I think I did. ;)

Upgrade time!

The DR80 just wasn't gonna cut it for these girls. It's lookin' like the KK isn't the only "stretcher" in the bunch! :)

The new home is a DR120. A little more elbow room, and more importantly, 16" more headroom.

Additionally, I rescued an *OLD* 400MH ballast and reflector from the trash collector a while back. Works like a charm, so it is now sporting a 360 HPS conversion bulb, and is also in the tent. I'm not especially thrilled with the reflector, but gonna use it for the time being, and keep a close eye on temps.

Had a power outage while I was away. No problem....unless one of your circulator fans has an electronic switch and needs to be manually turned on again! :error: That fan has been reassigned a less important position.

As a result of the "fan incident" the X1 plant in the 2 gallon pot is no more. The other X1 bag-seed took a little heat damage, nothing too significant. And the X2, KK and BW came through unscathed.

The 9 cuts in the bubble-cloner are lookin' ok, decent roots forming on 6/9. The 3 that haven't rooted yet seem to be in spots that don't see much bubble action. There is a single air stone in there diagonally, adding a second oughta set things right.
I'm really impressed with how well this works. They haven't been touched since the day they were cut, still nice and green, too. I had to remove the dome, the 2 larger clones have grown and were squished against it.

A few pics and we'll move along.

12/27: (Day 47)(Day 10 Flower)

Everybody out for a drink and change of venue.
They were given the FF week 5 schedule on 12/22. Today just water pH'd to 6.5. Each took one gallon, with very little runoff.

The plants are growing well, just starting to see the change to flowering. :)
Here's where they stand after the last 10 days.

BW went from 20" to 24". Nice sturdy plant, built like a brick sh!thouse. This plant hasn't been staked for support, it's like a rock compared to the others. :)

X1d bag-seed went from 20" to 29". OK Looking.

KK went from 24" to 36" a good bit of stretch going on.

X2d bag-seed went from 20" to 35". :wtf:
I hope she doesn't keep that up for long. This one has *really* taken off since the flip! It's turning into a beast!

That's it for now. The girls are in the "big girl tent" enjoying the space.
The KK is at the right front, BW is the right rear in the tent shot.

Next weeks forecast...Blossoms! :)

1/3: (Day 54)(Day 17 Flower)

How 'bout them Bruins!? :D

Chow time! :glugglug:
Everybody gets the FF week 7 feeding @ 100%, pH'd to 6.5. The two larger plants were very dry, each sucked up 1.5 gallons easily. The X2d had wilted slightly. Going to have to go to individual schedules I suppose. :p The X1 took about a gallon and the BW slightly less. The BW could have easily gone another day or two.

Next time out, if using the FFOF. I'll cut it with at least 25% more Perlite to speed up the dry time. I feel it's retaining a lil' too much moisture, I'd like to feed everyone every 3 days or so.

No problems at all with the FF nutrients. The plants all look good with no obvious deficiencies, or burning.

This is the first taste of the "Beastie Bloomz" so I'll keep an eye on 'em. This week in the schedule seems pretty heavy. Feeding included the 1/2 tsp of BB.

Flowering is kickin' in! :) The BW was the first to start, she was showing some little blooms on 12/28. The others all followed about two days later.

The stretch continues. Since the flip, 17 days ago:

BW has added 10" & is @ 30". Sturdy and very compact branching. I've never been a big fan of trimming away leafs, but this girl may be a candidate for it.

X1d has added 18", currently @38". Not too shabby.

X2d has added 26" and tops-out @ 46". I'm really interested to see this one grow-out.

KK has added 24" and is @ 48". This is my favorite! :) I hope she slows-down with the stretch.

I took a couple pics of each, X1d & X2d in this post. BW & KK to follow.

Pics of the BW and KK.

Pics came out crappier than usual...apologies! I'll have to work on that.

Swapped the lights around. Have the bare-bulb above the X1d and BW. Plenty of room back there, and I think the lower placement of the vertical bulb will help side development on the two taller plants in front.

The AC hood above the X2d and KK only has a couple chain-links left to raise the fixture. After that, I'm fabricating some custom pieces to hang the reflector @ the tents highest point, between two of the top supports. I figure the girls will chew up those last two links by tomorrow. ;)

After that, they'll get about another 10" 'till they hit the glass-ceiling. I keep catching the KK tickling the glass, she better stop it!

Thanks MG! She seems to be following the same playbook as MPs KK, so I don't think she'll disappoint. MPs looked really sweet.

A few random parting shots...

... and a little weirdness. :wtf:

Finally got around to doing something with the cuts taken a while back. The ones that have rooted got put into 100% Perlite today. One of the 3 BW cuts is exhibiting that odd-ball, "3-leafer" characteristic. I didn't notice it when I took the cut, just lopped-off the lowest branches without really paying too much attention to inspecting them. Apparently, this branch marched to a different beat. So, one of the BW "clones" has her own personality. ;) Lousy pic, but it's the one furthest back.

Still got 2 cuts sittin' here without any roots. :upsidedow
They were the smallest cuts, they'll sit in the bubbler until they root,..or die tryin'. :p They still look good, they're just lazy, I guess.

Not much vertical growth going on, probably under an inch, all around. Not going to measure today. The bigger ones are a bit of a PITA to move around right now. Almost had a disaster when I neglected to turn off the ceiling-fan! :D
Next watering, the KK and X2d will get some extra support, the side branches are just flopping around aimlessly, gonna pull them all around for a better view of the bare bulb. I'll take a measurement then.

BW is lookin' a bit better in the "essential oils" department. The newer growth is finally starting to frost-up. :) Looks like she's gonna have a pretty decent size top. So far, I'm liking this plant, ...no surprises!

The KK is acting-up. Some of the fans are looking a lil' funky, looks like a pH problem, but localized to random areas of the plant. <shrug> KK doesn't like something, I just don't know what, yet. It seems too early for her to start consuming herself. :wtf: She's still a loong way from being done.

The X2d is just a beast. This one will love the extra room. If she doesn't hermie, I think this will be the producer of the group. The physical size of the individual flowers dwarfs the BW or KK, you can tell she's gonna chunk-up pretty good. Starting to show some trichs now, too. Nice clean "citrus" type of smell to her. So far, a pleasant surprise. :)

Took the 2 lowest branches off the KK and got 7 new cuts. Curious to see how long it takes to root from flowering.

One of the original KK cuts taken in December, finally popped a root at 4 weeks on the nose. It was the smallest cut taken back then, I tossed the lighter on the deck for scale.

Of the cuts transplanted last week, I lost one each of the BW and KK. I think I watered them in with the wrong jug.
Instead of a really dilute nute mix, I believe they got a dose of FF @ full strength. Burnt to a crisp...

Thanks MG, I was figuring 'round about a month. The roots came on strong after about 4-5 days. Waiting on the greenery, now.

how did you get so many cuttings off 2 branches? i had to cut like 9 branches to get 9 cuttings :(

Nothing fancy on my end. :) Probably my taking smaller cuts off of bigger branches, I reckon. The lowest branches were about 10-12 inches long, and my cuts were all with only 2 nodes, one above and one below the neoprene insert. From what I've seen so far, the next cuts may consist of only one node, as all initial roots have sprouted directly from the diagonal cut at the bottom and not the lower node.

1/22 (Day 73)(Day 36 Flower)

Five of seven of the last KK cuts popped roots after 4 days. Same deal as the last run, the two unrooted cuts were in the same low-bubble locations. Shuffled 'em around and the last 2 showed roots three days later. (gotta get the second air-stone) ;)

At the last watering, I added some extra support. The BW got one support for the main stalk, she's putting on some weight and I wanted to make sure she doesn't lean into the bare-bulb fixture. The other two each got a second support on the main stalk, as well as two additional poles to prop-up and reposition some of the lower branches.

The bare-bulb fixture has been lowered. It's about a foot lower than the AC hood, now. The AC reflector is mainly working on the tops of the two big-girls. The bare-bulb is mainly on the BW and the middle branches of the other two, which have been pulled around to face the bulb.

Measured height:
BW @36".
KK @ 56"
X2d @ 54"

Vertically, they're done. As they bulk up, gravity rules! :)

The X1 shed some pollen before I caught it doin' the Hermie dance.
There are a few withered pistils leading to some especially swollen pods, primarily on the X2 and BW. There will be seed.. .:( I wouldn't feel so bad, but the X1 didn't really show anything worthwhile, so the seeds are IMO, junk.

The BW is bulking-up some and is beginning to shed some lower fans. I'm letting lights-out temps get down to a low of 58F, to see if she shows some color. Seeing just a hint of darkening,..or maybe it's just my wishful thinking. ;)

The KK is filling-out nicely. The top cola is over a foot long, and getting pretty darn heavy. The KK has an absolutely *wonderful* scent. Hard to describe, but sort of a musky, over-ripe melon aroma. :)

The last feeding was the FF week 9, with the 1/2 tsp of the Cha-Ching soluble.

The issue with the funky looking fans is still kind of a mystery to me. Not the normal yellowing I have come to expect during flower. It may just be the nature of the strain? I'll see on the next run, if the clones follow the same routine. :detective1:

Absolutely!

1/28 (Day 79)(Day 42 Flower)

Today makes 6 weeks in flower. Supposed to give straight water this feeding, but decided to add the Cha-Ching soluble.(1/2 tsp)

This is the last the BW will get as far as nutrients. Before feeding, I ran 10 gallons of pH 6.8 water through the pot, got a good bit of the FF "leftovers" out. Going to flush heavily at her next watering. Still a lot of greenery, only the very tips of the BWs leaves have yellowed.

The X2d and KK get 1/2 strength Big Bloom and the Cha-Ching. These two will get one more full feeding before flushing them. The KKs fans are getting sucked dry, especially the ones closest to the biggest blooms. The X2 fans are gradually fading.

Heh, there are a few "testers" dryin' out, :) still a ways to go though. She's mostly all clear, maybe 30% cloudy. Thanks for lookin'.

2/5 (Day 87)(Day 50 Flower)

The plants are just about dry from the good soaking on 1/28. The BW gets flushed with plain pH 6.8 water. Ran 14 gallons through, till the runoff ppm came down a good bit. Added 1 tsp of molasses to the final gallon.

I sure wish I had a floor drain handy! :) Flushing is a PITA. :D

Purely guessing that this one will finish @ 9 weeks. She's frosting fairly decently, now. I was a bit disappointed at first, but she's fillin' out and looking much better, now. All the foliage hides the bud growth along the lower branches, but there's more there than I thought. Nothing fancy with the smell of the plant, very generic spicy/skunky odor.

I don't have any cuts from this one. If the smoke proves to be worthwhile, I'll reveg what's left of her, as a mom.

FF week 11 schedule @ FS. This is her last full feeding, next watering I'll start flushing out all the FF leftovers. Upon flushing the BW, it's quite apparent that there is a good bit of built up salts in the soil. The FFOF has done a good job of buffering any harmful changes in soil chemistry.

In the last pic, the small TV is 13" tall. :)

2/5 (Day 87)(Day 50 Flower)

This one's the puzzler. She came on strong early, then just hit a slow/steady stride. New flower growth has been consistent, but slower. The trichome formation is there, but nothing like the other two. Ive seen nothing but clear trichs on this one. This one may be a real-long flowering girl. She seems stable, no errant male flowers yet. Steady as she goes... ;)

Timber!

The BW comes down today. She's showin' ~5% amber, that'll do. Not really interested in a heavy couch-lock effect, mainly looking for appetite stimulation and anti-anxiety effects.

Pulled off all the big fans for the compost pile. She's really a breeze to trim-up, nice stiff branches with well-formed nugs, easy to get in tight with the scissors. Sugar-leaf trim filled a paper lunch sack about 1/3 of the way.

KK and X2 still drinkin' water. The end is near. :D

Yep, that'll do.

KK is looking nice. A lil' sprinkling of amber throughout. Less than 5%, but that's plenty. Previous "tester-nugs" were *quite* acceptable.

KK is a pain in the ass. At least, this one is. :D
Had to use a lot of support to keep the branches from bowing like a fly-rod with a trout on line! I'm super impressed with the way KK has bulked-up. When I disconnected the support for the plant top the stem instantly buckled (pic 2). No chance the spindly little stem could have supported the top, on its own.
She dropped only a few large fans, they remain as mostly dried-up, crispy things...until the petiole, which is still firmly attached. Of coarse, the crumbly fan remnants get stuck to the deliciously-sticky buds. :wtf: Live and learn... The irregular shape of the buds adds to the "PITA factor". A lil' more work to trim-up, but well worth it, IMO.

Hopeful to find her sweet-spot WRT nutes and such, with the clones to play with. This run she got 100% of the FF schedule, prolly a bit much. ;)

X2 comes down today, as well.

The trichs are showing about a 40/60 split clear/milky. Ambers are nearly non-existant. She should probably go at least another week or three, but that can't happen now. :( This one really looks pretty good. I'll re-veg her so that I can grab some clones to grow out with some longer-flowering strains, sometime in the future. I'm pretty disappointed about not seeing her finish-up.

Real easy trimmin'. Dense, heavy, well-defined nugs (Golf balls). Curious to see how much heft they retain, upon drying.

Of the three, this one produced the heaviest buds (before dry), when compared volumetrically. Way to go, Bagseed!! :D

The X2 and KK go into the jars today.

X2 weight was 103 grams. (~3.5 oz.) Got 'er all in one jar. Looks ok, pleasant citrus-like aroma. We'll see how it cures.

KK weight was 117 grams. (~4 oz.) Not bad looking, considering the issues I had with the crumbly fans and my lack of patience in manicuring. :D Looks nicely frosted. The clincher is the aroma! I hope she retains some of these smells through the cure! :) Very sweet smelling, a fruity-cereal sort of smell. Mmmmmmmmm.

All weights are for the medicine in the jars.

Sugar trim for all 3 plants, combined, came to 27 grams dry.

Well, it's been awhile. Sometimes life gets in the way, I'm sure ya'll can relate. I reckon a lil' smoke-report is in order. :)

The Blue Widow is some good medicine. It loses a little of the White Widow "punch", but the Blueberry smoothness makes for a nice smoke.
With a 45-day cure, this was one of the smoothest-smoking Widow crosses I've personally sampled. Taste is sort of an earthy, hashy-blueberry. Very pleasant tasting. Harvested at 5-10% amber, effective for appetite stimulation and relaxation/anti-anxiety. Quite manageable, this medicine won't completely disassemble you. ;)

Kandy Kush is IMO, spectacular. I think the proper term is "FIRE". :D The Reserva Privada cross between TW and OG, is something to try. Highly recommended.:thumbsup:
The KK got a 60-day jar cure, though I didn't detect much change after about 30 days. The sweet smell is overpowering. A sweet, dank, fruity, earthy goodness fills the room as soon as ya crack the jar. ;)
(An elderly patient made the comment:"It smells like an angels armpit!") :angelsmiley:
The smoke is sharp and fruity, OG sweetness with a tart finish. It tastes sooo good that it's easy to take too big of a hit,...there may be coughing.
Go easy on the KK, even at less than 10% amber, she'll make ya pretty stupid if ya overdo it. :D Made some "Firecrackers" and the taste is very mild, good medicine for edibles.

This run sold me on KK, she's a keeper. BW didn't make the cut as a mom, though I would certainly grow it again.

Killa, just to report on the PWx(PKxPR).
Planted all 10, got a few rather weird mutants that didn't do much, grew to about 6" and on the third set of true leaves,...the growing tip just stopped. :weedpoke:
I could make out the tiny developing tip, but all vertical growth seemed to have nearly stopped. Of the other seven, five turned out males. I collected pollen from two that showed some promising early purple coloration. :) Of the two females, neither shows strong color. I've got one almost done (7 1/2 weeks), she's putting on a nice-lookin' Cola for being the youngest, smallest plant in the tent.
Gonna run the PKxPR F2s' next round, with a packet of DJ Short Grape Krush. Going it "old-school" next run, no fem beans. Crossing my fingers for some color.

My whole "purple" excursion in the tent was a bit of a bust, color-wise.
Ceres' Seeds Purple (fem) appears to be a good producer, but didn't deliver on color for me. :(
Dutch Passion Purple (fem) was an unmitigated disaster. :wtf: I still have 4 more of these beans, so I'll give them another chance, but this plant is my most disappointing *ever*. Grew well, didn't appear to be having any issues, but at 6 weeks flower, she _erupted_ into the worst case of hermaphroditism ever. Top to bottom, every bud, to some degree. Yanked her out of there. These are gonna be some of the worst "air-buds" ever. There's decent trich production, but these buds didn't fill out at all. :( Looks like a big ol' batch of brownies in the future. :p

Disclaimer: I'm not griping about the DP Purple bean, as sometimes...$hit happens. This run included the (over)application :glugglug:of Bushmaster, so the Dutch Passion plant may have reacted negatively, I dunno. Better luck next run,... I hope.

Did you grow the KK the same way this time?

They were clones taken ~4th week flower and were pretty branchy to begin with, so I didn't top them as I intended. There were at least 6 tips on each. Last run there was the one KK, this time there are four, and it has been a pain. The stems need help, so the tent is a tangle of support wires running all over. Moving a plant is out of the question. Sucks.

Next KK run will be a single plant, likely ScrOG. Dealing with tying up all these tops is tiresome, and makes access difficult for me. :(

Someone suggested using a silica additive to beef up the stems, I may try that. I'm open to suggestions. Love the strain, but would like to make growing it a lil' less labor-intensive.
