what do you guys think about growing in a travel trailer? Right now im in a 4x8 closet. my beter half wants her closet back. And since i have no more space. Was thinking this would be a good idea.Of course it would have to be light proof, if big enough I could seperate it into two rooms. I think I would vent it the same as the closet. were I live everyone has at least one trailer on there property. Is this as good an idea as im thinkin? Please much info.

I think it would work very well.

Fookin AWESOME idea.
And definately do 2 rooms 1 for veg 1 for flower (be easier to blackout aswell if its a bit smaller)
The only thing you'd have to worry about is where will the smell drift to??
Cos if you put a filter system in theres gonna be noise and possible drifting.
(unless you could put 2 filters in each room to disperse the smell somewhat, i suppose it depends how close your neighbours are).
hope you go for it cos i'd love to see some pics of that..
Us here in uk couldnt do that we dont have big enough driveways let alone anything else.
P.S security for your van would be an issue maybe have locks on both rooms aswell as the main van.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:hippy: FLOWER POWER RULZ

just gutted a 31 foot airstream. thinking about framing walls and using osb (plywood) to build a box inside of it, this way i know its completly sealed. rather than trying to just black and white polly. I would paint the inside of the box flat white. When u step through the door of the trailer to the left is 17' to the back of the trailer by 7'wide. This is were i would build the box, 6'8" high. so u would step into the trailer then into the box, this would be one large room, for flower. The remainding part of the trailer (the part u first walk into) would have cabinets for mothers veg and clones. also room to kick it (smokers den) and trim up some buds. Thinking of going with Hempy buckets veging in the cabinets under T5, then puting them in the flower room in a vertical system, like on shelves around 1000watts. Like maybe 3 1000 watts down the middle of the 17' box, with shelves in a octagon around each one. Was not gona go sealed, intake exhaust. What do u guys think? Please help. Need info on this idea. I know heats gona be an isue. What do u think about portable ac? and how would ac work with intake exhaust?

Subscribed...this is a very cool thread. :)
Instead of OSB you might consider using white styrofoam insulation from Home Depot. Their brand has an aluminum foil vapor barrier on one side that's perfect as a reflector for the flowering room. The insulation is good, too, and it comes up to 2" thick. And it's really light-weight compared to osb!
If you don't want to do a 'sealed room' you'll need to pump fresh air in, and as you note, deodorize and exhaust the air. Best to do the latter via an activated charcoal filter that exhausts through the existing bathroom skylight (you did leave it installed, right?
With three 1kw lights I'm confident you'll need a/c. One of those cheap window-mount ones from the local big box store ought to do nicely. I installed a 6500 btu a/c from Homer in my 2-car garage for working in there during the summer, and it does the job here in sunny NorCal. In a 17x7x7 insulated space that should do the trick...and it was only $70, and came with a wireless remote and digital thermostat. Larger capacity units aren't that much more money if it turns out you need more cooling with 3 lights. The a/c will even do double-duty as the dehumidifier. Just seal around it properly to prevent air and light leaks.
A setup like that will need a dedicated 50-amp circuit and proper wiring. If you need to hire an electrician, tell him you want a 50-amp 'RV circuit' added to the side of the house/garage where the trailer will sit. This won't arouse any suspicion...it will work properly...and it won't burn your house down! :)

I have been a big fan of air exchange as opposed to the "sealed room" concept.
Completely replacing the air in a grow room insures an adequate supply of CO2 for the plants. In a sealed room you have more need for CO2 supplement system to maintain minimal CO2 levels.
For complete air exchange you will need to take in air from outside the grow room and then filter for smell as you take the air out of the room and out of the trailer. Carbon filtering is the easiest and most practical and you can DIY. Search these forums for posts by Zandor regarding how much air replacement volume you will need. IIRC he mentions how many times the air must be replaced per hour. (based on room volume)
If your air intake is from under the trailer you will likely have lower intake air temps and therefore easier cooling of the room temps. Exchangeing the air fast enough will also greatly help contolling room temps when using that much HPS lighting.
In the case of your Airsteam (great trailers) you may want to have passive air intake through the floor in the veg areas (T5 lights) and the "lounge" and then intake from those areas into the grow room and finally out through "powered and filtered exhaust" fans out of the trailer. This way all smells from the entire trailer will be filtered before exit. Some also use dryer sheets as a final smell coverup at the end of the filtering chain but DO NOT depend on dryer sheets as the only smell control.
hope this helped,

just gutted a 31 foot airstream.
I am confident I speak for all when I suggest posting progress pics, danbone.

Yea...how about some Trailer Park boys sequels???...LOL! I think it's a great idea...Lot's of people around here have them, and one friend who's wifey does not appreciate what we do, stinking up her house... makes us go to his trailer to partake and adjust...

Hey guys thanks for the info. Stone, Im gona check out that foam at the depot. On the ac thing I got this 10,000 btu 1000 watt portable ac unit I was gona try, what do you think? Its got 1 duct I geuss for hot air out. Also digital thermo with remote. I was gona put it in the big room next to the air intake wich would be on the floor. Exhaust on the other end of the room up high with fan. 8 inch inline I was thinkin. Does this all sound ok? might take me a minute to figure out the whole computer camera thing but post pics of progress for sure. Right now its just a big empty shell. took me a while to clean after I guted it. Rats lived there for a while. But now its clean and ready for me to do it up. With a little help from you guys.

Depending on where you live, that should be enough. I used one of those online a/c calculators, and with some assumptions about the insulation found your peak cooling load on a summer afternoon in Florida with three 1kw lights to be about 16k btu. If you live in a cooler part of the country it will be less. That number presumes no cooling fans on the lights, so if you install comprehensive ducting and fans you should be fine with a 10k btu a/c unit. Of course, it will have to have its hot air exhaust ducted out, as well.
Speaking of lights, can one effectively use 1kw lights in a space less than 7' tall? Even with the light right up against the ceiling you will have only 6' under it, which doesn't leave much room for the plants. Also, you'll need a walkway down the middle, so maybe three 400w lights along each side would work better. In any case you'll need cooling air ducted from the lights that's ejected outside, in addition to the a/c unit. Done correctly, an air inlet in the floor can supply both the fresh air for the plants as well as the cooling air for the lights.
Done right, you trailer can be "teh killa" setup! A word of caution, though. With this setup you are already over 40 amps on a 110 feed, so be sure to have it properly wired. We're not talking about putting a single grow light in a spare bedroom here... :)
