Been Following along with a lot of threads and I gotta say some great info here and some great growers! With that said I wanted to introduce you all to my first grow ever! It is outdoors

Started From 2 Hash Plant Clones spent several weeks in a sun porch just water no nutes topping or LST just H2O!

Transplanted into 3 gallon pots and officially went outside during the last week in May 1st Pic 1 and 2 are from 6/9 after 2 weeks outside!

June was a nasty month in the Northeast Rain rain rain (tough going for a while) after 6/9 Plants started to get their first nutes Fox Farm Grow Big and Big Bloom at 1/2 doses! Plants Proved Very hardy so I slooowly increased nute doses to full serving! Also of note Cal-Max every feeding to prevent lock up! also the Chelated Iron in the Cal Max gives a Deeep green color! Real good Stuff IMHO! Still in 3 Gal pots!

Pics 3 and 4 are from 6/22 the girls seeking refuge from the rain in an enclosed sun porch for 3 days!

Finally a bit of sun at the beginning of July..Girls made it though the rain! Transplant into 14 Gallon planters. Fox Farm Ocean Forrest Soil burried halfay into ground. Hole in ground got several inches of peastone as did first few inches of the bottom of each pot to insure great drainage!! Not Nutes Just water for 2 weeks so the plants could deal with the shock of the transplant! I should also mention that spider mites and aphids have been controlled nicely with Safer organics! Girls had No issues with the Safer Products!!

pics 5 & 6 are from July 1st

After Girls adjusted to their new home I started with Nutes again Fox Farm BB GB and Low Doses of Tiger Bloom (hot suff careful) Cal Max Each Feeding! Some great Sun Finally Using More and more water! Deep Saturation of a well drained soil makes the roots chase the water which is a very very good thing!! I have not trimmed, tied, topped, Lst nothing getting very bushy is this a bad thing? We will see

Pics 7 & 8 are from July 23

Comming into August I am preparing for first signs of flowering Nutes have been changed Fox Farm Grow Big and Fox Farm Open Sesame! And of course Cintinuing With the Cal Max! Getting Very Hot! The Girls have been thirsty and their water has been adjusted accordingly No flowers yet but soon :D Stocks are getting thick Blackberry and hand thrown in to show scale!

Any Questions Comments and Critisims Are welcome and GREATLY appreciated

Pics 9 & 10 11 & 12 are from Today July 28

Stay Tuned and Thanks For Looking In!!

They look fantastic! I don't think flowering will be any problem...if anything, the compactness will help the THC develop stronger because the nutrients don't have to travel as far up the plant stalk (if that makes sense).

If you wanted to, when it comes time to flower you can trim some of the top leaves so the leaves underneath get light too. But for outdoor grows, there is usually plenty of sun even for the leaves underneath. If you were doing an indoor grow, there might be cause for concern, but for an outdoor grow, you should be stoked

GrowDawg
07-30-2009, 03:11 AM
Never Topped it ! They live in a Very good Spot perfect sun from just about sun up to sun down. Just paying very close attention to Watering and feeding! Never root bound and never stressed Just loving life I guess! Not to concerned with yield Just a healthy plant with Sticky Stank Dense Bud! Im Not greedy LOL

Would Like to get more comments on the bushiness of these plants !! Thanks

Joefarmer
08-01-2009, 02:34 AM
Don't worry about it. Some strains just stay squat like that. It'll bush out more once it really gets into flowering. Some outdoor growers would kill for a strain that stays so short. Lookin good dude!

GrowDawg
08-01-2009, 11:25 AM
Thanks For the Input JoeFarmer! I Have no complaints Im Glad they are short and Bushy based on where they are growing!

Take some clones of it

GrowDawg
08-01-2009, 12:27 PM
There are many clones as this strain comes from a long time grower! This particular strain he says is by far his favorite smoke! he mostly grows indoors, however he loved how they looked in their "outdoor environment" No signs of flower yet but im right on track I believe! "Paaaaatience grasshopper"

MDFinest
08-01-2009, 03:42 PM
very healthy.. with them being that dense I wonder if molding could be a problem when it buds later.. iuno. either way they look very healthy

GrowDawg
08-02-2009, 02:44 PM
Thanks MDfinest! I was wondering the same thing myself! A couple of the Innermost branches have had a problem. No pics yet but right in the middle of a branch it thinned out and turned greyish. One minor branch actually broke off as a result! Keeping my eye on it. Has been very rainy and when not raining very Humid. Any input I can get to see if there is anything that can be done about fungus and Mold would be a Huge help

Italiano715
08-02-2009, 02:49 PM
Make sure it's never too humid and don't foliar feed and you should be fine. When flowering starts that stretch should take away the problem of them being too bushy. They will still be nice and bushy, but it will have more stretch in the sites, so that should help. Also keep a fan going 24/7!

Nice looking bushes man. Man, ever think about LSTing to expose middle of plant to a bit more sun. Or, repot to a 5 gallon, then LST.

They look perfect, but just curious if you've considered these methods:D:rasta:

GrowDawg

Thanks LetsSeeYa I Have read alot about LST and the like but being my first grow I just wanted to let em go and do what they do so to speak! Also being outside they get tons of sunlight that penetrates most of the plant even though they are quite bushy! Not looking to set the world record for yield just want a nice healthy smoothe tasteing POTENT bud!! FYI those are 15 Gal Pots Buried most of the Way in the Ground Filled With FFOF soil Just started with budding Nutes as Well!!

Open Sesame +Tiger Bloom

Supplementing with

Cal Mag (calcium, magnesium, and iron helps plants to absorb nutrients and results in rapid growth and larger yields)

Diamond Nectar (fulvic acid, an important humate that assists in nutrient uptake)

Flora Nectar (all-natural raw cane sugar, molasses, and malt syrup, as well as plant-based esters, L-amino acids, vitamins and essential minerals)

I appreciate you looking in!

I freaked out when i saw those pots sitting beside the jug. Thought you said 3 gallon pots and thats why i thought they shoud be in bigger ones:D:rasta:

Those are some beautiful plants. I would love to find a type that stays short and bushy like that, but I only grow from bag seed at the moment (my current plants are about 6 ft tall, and making me nervous!), so I can't complain too much.

LOL LetsSeeYa They started in 3 Gal pots! But thanks yeah I guess your right I have been keeping the girls on a pretty good diet I guess! Cant wait for the Big buds! I made it this far so another 60 days wont kill me !!

Hey Hershey12 Yeah bro with bag seed you get what you get! However if you want short and dense Indica strains are the way! (thats if you have a choice) otherwise grow what ya got!! Thanks for looking in

OK...now this is what I don't understand. My white widows are 6 1/2 feet....and I have 1 plant growing thats Mazar-I-Sharif...pure Indica and this bitch is also atleast 5 1/2 feet. If pure Indica strains grow short, then why is my Mazar girl such a Ukraninian basketball player girl! She so damn tall it's retarded. I had to kill her brother the other day because he wanted to grow balls. That was totally unacceptable in this crop....your either a bitch, or you die! So I'll smoke him until his sisters are done!

Growdawg...I'm goona shoot some updated flower pics today so we can compare and continue to make each other drool!:stoned:

Growdawg...here are the updated pictures taken today. FYI...I'm not in the ground...I'm in 10 gallon pots. I run my grow like an MX missle site...mobile at all times! :D Enjoy the shots! Also, if you note in pictures 1 & 2 you'll see my defender spider patroling for mites and leaf hopppers. He's on the tip of the bamboo rod. I pay him well....LOL!

Hey BudE Found this on another thread may shed some light as to why your Indica is a F'n Giant:

Mazar-i-Sharif

Genetics: Traditional North Afghan charas cultivar
Type: Traditional landrace/pure-bred
Variety: Indica Giant
Height: 3-4 meters in natural outdoor environment in Mazar-i-Sharif.
Yield: 1.5 to 2 kg of dried flowers in natural outdoor environment
Aroma: pungent, intense terpene aroma, classic Afghan, with some sweetness
Harvest: early December to early January
Characteristics: Unusually large indica strain with classic wide leaved characteristics.

Grown around the desert towns of Balkh, Mazar-i-Sharif and Sheberghan in the far north of Afghanistan, close to the modern borders of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. This Mazar-i-Sharif strain produces the legendary hashish known as "Shirak-i-Mazar" and "Milk of Mazar". The people of these regions are a patchwork of Turkic, Tajik, Afghan and Pashtun tribes, and the history of Mazar-i-Sharif strains is likely to be equally complex. In fertile and well-irrigated soils these vigorous giants are capable of reaching 4 metres in height or more, and will produce a similarly immense yield of intensely resinous flowers. Traditionally harvested in the first half of December with the onset of the brutal Central Asian winter, Mazar-i-Sharif plants will enjoy cold conditions, including snow, and will turn a deep blood red in low temperatures. Growers favour leaving harvest as late as possible, sometimes into early January. Sieved "Milk of Mazar" garda is very resinous and so can be hand-pressed to make charas; it has a distinctively pungent, sweet aroma and a dreamily mellow high. Over-indulgence produces a mind-warping, immobilising and narcotic effect.

Growdawg....many thanks for the strain info...now that makes sense. But I guess I wont be harvesting that bitch until christmas. By then who knows, 10 feet or higher....oh lord! I'll be taking some updated shots of the widows today providing the storms don't break out! That purple you got going on there looks intense.....wish I could get a sniff on those. Describe the odor...I wanna taste! :rastasmoke:

Looking good Growdawg ,

my plant looks like sativa dominant thats why I'm worried about it taking long to flower and not getting the required conditions later on in the year , but what the hell its my first proper test grow before buying seeds for next year and then I'll know what I'm getting rather than chancing it on bagseed.(any advice on oudoor strains good for UK would be helpful)

My plant is in a 3 gallon pot and is drying out quickly but I haven't the guts to transfer it at this point ,I had an accident with a branch snapping so I've got a small plant that will fit in my window but my main plant is approaching 4 ft ,5 ft if I include the height of the pot so it will have to flower outside in my quickly knocked together mini greenhouse.

The best of growin to ya.

Thanks for the Compliment Dmcefc! Sativas can be a very long wait!! Stay the course and she will reward you! You may want to check some of the seed companies and grab a BC Indica strain maybe something that even finishes early! The BC Strains will prolly like your climate better! Those damn Sativas are a Jungle plant real tall and loooong flowering time! Hang in there and get ready for the next season! Keep me posted on your progress

Ok here is an update as of Sunday August 30th! The plants seem to be getting quite thick and dense through all the internodes. I am assuming this is bud formation but to be honest Im not really sure at all as these plants look like no other I have seen anywhere weather they be indoor or outdoor! The bud sites are friggen everywhere and not just on the top! However, i'm just not seeing the white hairs as much as others ive have seen here at this point in the season! Should I be concerned to the very very slow flowering or do they look ok?? Please advise!

Ive included some pics looking directly down at the budsite and some side shots so you can see the thickening! These are just too dense and I still cant visulise how they will end up! Comments please!!

GrowDawg
08-30-2009, 05:29 PM
Man These things are freaks!! Here are more shots looking at the plant and the tops! I think They are too dense! Anyway have a peek and please comment! I wouldn't be concerned GD. They look awesome! In good time the buds will get thicker and start to take their true shape. Sometimes they just look funky when in early flower. You should covet this strain whatever it is, as it has many good traits. They look very happy!

GrowDawg
08-30-2009, 11:07 PM
Hey JoeFarmer! Yes they are a bit funky looking and maybe im a bit impatient!but

This particular strain is amazing IMHO! I have sampled the genetics! 12 clones were grown inside (my clones grown outside) are from the same mother!

Deep Indica earthy hashy taste, dank stench with a tiny hint of citris

Patients LOVE it!

Growdawg......*Outstanding* shit!!! :D:thumbsup: You have absolutley nothing to worry about there. Those buds have their white hairs in addition to some purple. Curious, how low are your temps getting at night lately? In some cases some strains turn purple due to cold...below 60 degrees. But my lord, you should be happier then Rommel in North Africa! I will post some updates I took yesterday as soon as my offspring get out of my face for the day so I can compute freely! ;)

Saw the pics this Morning on your other thread! Wow those are sexy! The smell must be getting so strong! :D Great work!!! Care to share what your using for nutrients at this stage of the grow?

Sir Growdawg.....my nutes are as follows. Rainwater which I collect in a rain barrel. FoxFarm Tiger Bloom...2 Teaspoons per gallon, with...1 tablespoon unsulphurized Molases weekly. Also, twice a week I use FoxFarm BigGrow diluted for folair feeding twice a week. The reason for the folair feeding is I want to keep some degree of Nitrogen supplied to them so they dont totally absorb all their stored supply. My girls are very tall so I'm trying to keep the nutes available at all levels considering they have a long way to travel up to the colas.
