I have used a NutraDip Tri-Meter for about a year and a half now. I have already been through one pH probe and now the meter box itself is on the fritz. The temp and PPM side seem to be working fine but the pH meter was reading all my res's at 5.3 and not fluctuating and I know that can't be. I thought it was the cord of the pH meter because at the base it was frayed from being bent too many times, but I spliced the connector and cord from the old pH meter onto the new probe and it was still reading 5.3. Then I unplugged it and went to take it apart thinking it must be something internal, but I didn't have a screwdriver that fit, and when I plugged it back in it just reads 16.6 and will not move. I am not sure what to do, and I do not want to be out a $250 meter but I think thats what it has come down to. Any suggestions on what to do or recommendations for a nice multi function pen meter under $200? :( :wtf:

Have you calibrated the meter? You need at least two standards and calibrate the range for the standards you have.
Rinse the probe well and dip in 4, for example. Turn the appropriate pot gently until you are on 4.00 for 4 then do 10 or 7 same way. Do this 3 or 4 times.
I've had one for years and even left the probe uncapped during a hiatus.

Best bet for storage is a 7.45g of potassium chloride into 100ml of water.

If you have had any water in the unit I'd open it and put it in the refrigerator for a day.
I will agree the 16.6 reading is odd and does not give a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Nice meters but as you said a bit salty.

I hope it is not a POS meter since I just got one from ebay after reading your logs. My hanna pen has been acting up lately and I don't trust it anymore. At least I got mine for only $115 including shipping.
