Purple Kush

Here are some pics of the Purple Kush I have been growing. Genetics are from a breeder in Cali a friend of mine knows, if I remember correctly its OG Kush crossed with Purple #1 or Purple Star. Today was day 21 of flower, I grew another one that finished in about 52 days. This is the only strain I have grown besides Master Kush and the purple color in flower is just too damn cool. :jointsmile: The first one I grew didn't turn purple but had the same "purple" taste if that makes sense, so I am glad to see this one actually has the color and hope it has the taste to match.

This one's a bit fert burned due to the low humidity and high PPM's, but I got it straightened out and she's been cruising along nicely now. I am also happy to say she has a very nice huge white root mass supporting her for once, which if any of you have seen my previous grows, you would know it was a first for me. :thumbsup:

I can't wait to see what she ends up like in 4-5 more weeks. I will post more pics as it gets bigger. Enjoy for now!

Nice plant.....i like the purple kush....who is the breeder....im running a purple kush x purple rhino cross and they are soooo purple...The purple kush im running is Dr. Load's Purple Kush.....There are some nice phenos to find....Heres a pic of my girl in seed production...Hope u like the pic...lll remove it if you want...This is the purple Kush pheno im running....The purple kush im running is from a Master Kush seed breed to stabilize the purple pheno....

Haha, way to come in and steal my thunder with that absolutely amazing looking plant killa12345! I didn't get really deep on the genetics with the guy I got the seeds from, and to be honest I'm not even sure if thats the right cross but I am pretty sure it was an OG Kush mother but I don't know whose version of it.

Day 30 today. The leaves on the main cola are so covered in trichs that they don't even look purple anymore! I had to get out my magnifier and look at them up close because I thought they turned back to green, but there's a rich purple underneath the sea of trichs. Only about 3 more weeks to go and I can't wait!

Here are some pics from today, day 35. They are really starting to put on some mass. I started feeding 15 ml of Sweet additive per gallon, feeding at around 850 PPM. Only a couple more weeks to go and I am stoked! :thumbsup::jointsmile:

Normally you want to let the PK go about 9 -10 weeks of flower:thumbsup: you still got about 4-5 weeks..... your about 1/2 way through flower... 70 days will about do it:hippy:

So can you make Fem seeds off the clones you get? That's what I have never under stood what makes it a clone only strain? Any info would be helpful.

Hmm hopefully not. The last one of this seed stock I grew finished in 52 days with 50% amber trichs. I've read that using as intense of a light as I do in such a small area can cause them to finish a little faster (I use a 1KW in about 8 square feet, 18" above the plant). But hopefully they will be done in time to be dry enough to smoke on 4/20 as that was my plan! :jointsmile::thumbsup:

GDP is a strain you only can get from clones (a cutting from a mother plant) cause its native to the bay area and not holland/amsterdam or anywhere else. its purely a cali strain. anyways i bought some meds from a dispensary that was GDP and the person who grew it must have stressed it out or something to make it herm. herm plants will pollinate itself with its own genetics and hence female seeds

Day 41 today. I examined the trichs and they are about 10-20% cloudy, so I am hoping she will be ready in the next 10 days or so. The fert burn has progressed a little. I had a busy weekend and left everything alone for a couple days and came back to 1200 PPM (whoops!). But overall she is really starting to thicken up really nice and is absolutely covered in trichs! Yeah, it grows very compact in veg. This is actually a mother that stretched a bit so it was a lot less compact than the cuttings I took off it. Also, I'm pretty sure the genes aren't a "true" stabilized PK strain so yours might look different if you paid money for it from a breeder or co-op or something. My genes were just from a friend of a friend that was trying to make their breeding co's own PK strain by crossing OG Kush and a purple pheno and I'm pretty sure I just got a random grab of the seed lot.

7 full weeks of flower is tomorrow. From what I can tell from the trichs, they are about 75% cloudy, 10% clear, and 15% amber, so I am planning on harvesting tomorrow or the next day. The percentage of amber grew from two days ago. It seems early for it to be finished, as VapedG13 suggested 9-10 weeks finishing for PK, but I am pretty confident I know what I am looking at when I examine the trichs and I think it is ready. I also took a portion of the leaves from the top, middle, and lower branches, and it was relatively consistent, but with less amber on the lower sample.

Has anyone had any experience with plants finishing in only 7 weeks? I am pretty sure I read something somewhere that said high intensity light will make a plant mature faster, but can anyone confirm or deny this or have any experience with early finishing plants in general? I don't want to cut her too early and miss out.

I say let it go one more week if you can...it will get even more funky. It does look close though...remember, they stop packing on more flowers in the last week or two normally and just swell up and thicken as well as produce more complex sugars and oils..."Candy Up" as I call it. At this point you better be flushing with pure water and letting the plant use up all the stored nitrogen..I would wait until the leaves fall off and go totally yellow then it will literally be like candy and get even more purple. This is on the very early side of being done from what I can see in the pics, don't always just go by pistil color. Your plants do still have alot of "green" in them. Now as far as fast strains go..remember, there are old shishkaberry strains out there and hash plant clones that are done in 5 1/2 to 6 weeks..and I mean DONE DONE DONE. I saw a grow one time where my buddy flowered a whole room in 35 days with the old spice of life shishka's..and it was really funky and totally swollen, stacked out tower calyx's on the bud ends and everything caked in white crystals that were like little mushrooms. Very early fast strains do exist and with Co2 early in flower and lots of light, water, & good nutes with good temps and the right humidity levels you can normally shave a week off most "normal" flowering times. The fastest strain based on all factors I ever saw with the highest yield, best looking buds, and most soaring potency was "Shit" by Mr. Nice in a flat 6 weeks...that stuff is scary strong and grows like a madman. I'm talking big silvery glistening donkey dicks of it in 6 wks that smelled like rotten juicy fruit & skunk ass mixed together with a turd in jet fuel. lol

So what does this purple yum yum you have going smell like?

I started flushing 2 days ago when I noticed all the trichs were cloudy. I decided to flush with RO water and 200 PPM of Sweet additive. The smell is piney with a skunky undertone, and has kind of a flowery perfume scent. The last one I grew smelled like skunk and flowers, but didn't have any pine smell like this one.

What do you think about the maturity of the trichomes? I never go by the pistil color only, but the fact that they are mostly orange coupled with the progressive amber trich coloring makes me think it is done. Plus, the buds have been getting really fat over the past three weeks or so, but the growth has slowed considerably over the last week. But I have only grown Master Kush, that has usually finished in about 53 days or so. I have also noticed a couple little naners growing out of the main cola.

So what do you think about the trich color? I prefer the clear headed euphoric high vs the knock down drag out stone effect, so I don't want to let it go too long, but I don't wanna cut it early either. Decisions, decisions... :jointsmile:

cut off the main cola and let the side branches keep going...see what happens ;)

alot of times with a indica plant/strain when you cut off the main cola it will shock the plant for a week or so...IMO

Alright, so I decided to cut it down today. :thumbsup: I examined the trichs from all over the plant one last time and they all still said ripe so I went for it. I think I should get a pretty good yield, lots of nice fat buds. :jointsmile: Will update with the final weight once they are dry! :hippy:

Well, I ended up with just a hair under 2 oz. The stuff is SUPER potent, covered in crystals, and tastes like piney flower purfume. I also got about a gram of so of fairly low grade "gumby hash" from the trimmings.

In hindsight, I probably could have left it another week to fill out a bit more and could have ended up with more weight, but I really just wanted to harvest before my friends got to town for the upcoming holiday. :jointsmile:

Next time, I am gonna try not to burn up the leaves in the first two weeks and also plan on letting it go 8 weeks and I think it will be an even more positive outcome.
