O.K.: I am in the closet and hope to have my clones in time.

Thanks for taking all the time to explain this so well! Is really cool!

Get out of the closet!!!! It's dark in there!

You are welcome PR....If you want, check out my How to Garden By the Moon thread at ICMag..... (I may just go copy it and bring it here....)

I can hardly wait to start planting tomorrow......I got Bean Fever Bad! Got several really cool strains that I want to try....

i got this in a text today. usually when i see FWD at the start, i just delete it but i read it, tittered, then felt silly. here it is.

"no woman will ever be totally happy on valentine's day. because no man has a giant chocolate penis that ejaculates money."

thats right. that just happened.

Yuck, only a dude would think that was funny!:D Besides, women don't want a giant chocolate penis, and we know how to get your money anyway..

Besides a chocolate penis would just melt, and then what would ya do with it?

Been going wild planting today!

Started the following:
1) White widow
2) NL5Haze
3) Super Silver Haze (fem)
4) Ice Cool (fem)
5) WhiteBerry x PPP (fem)

Also started some White Rhino clones.

Just got through emailing the Zoo, asking for some Big Cat poo! Hope it will scare them deer off of the grow outdoors!

Moon will be in Scorpio/3rd Quarter until 7:53 pm EST Monday, so plenty of Perfect Planting Days ahead!

Moon will be in 4th quarter/barren signs 17th & 18th. This is good time to harvest your crops!

 Have fun! Thanks for coming by Ya'll!

Ok, I'm DYING to hear if the zoo will actually send you some big cat manure. Lola, you are definitely an original.

for what it's worth, my sister sprayed her whole yard down with tiger piss, (fresh from the city zoo) to scare off rabbits ... zero effect ... I always heard that worked , guess these rabbits can't read :wtf:

Weedhound
02-15-2009, 06:25 PM
Ok, THIS I have to know.....how do you save piss from a tiger? Do you folllow it around with a big cup or ? :D

I thought I heard somewhere that human urine will keep away deer. Does anyone know if this is true or just a myth?

the image reaper
02-15-2009, 06:44 PM
hi, Weedie :D ... our zoo, like most, I imagine, has a trough ringing the concrete pad, where the stuff trickles to ... as far as human urine, to repel deer, that doesn't work either ... deer were a nightly disaster for my tomato plants, I whizzed around them several times a day, all summer long (I'd have pissed on the deer, too, if they'd hold still :D) ... the deer treated it as 'salad dressing', I guess :D ... I tried all sorts of things, urine, bars of Irish Spring soap, garlic, red pepper, the damned things ignored everything ... the only thing I didn't try, my local garden radio show advertises 2 products: 'Deer-Scram, and Rabbit-Scram', never got around to trying them ...

I know my friend talked about something that she used.....I could ask if you want Lola...but not on her cannabis crops and she only got fair results with it anyway. The only real way I know of is fencing......the wineries in our area have at LEAST 8 feet(and usually 10) foot fencing around their grapes to keep the deer out.

Reaper, that's logical and makes perfect sense. I never would have thought of it. :D

LolaGal

Well, we have cougars here, so the deer definitely know what big kitties are....although the Govt. refuses to believe they are hanging out here... I've seen Big Black Kitties, and normal cougars too...also a few bobcats....

No word yet from the Zoo, I tried to bribe them into mailing some to me... Poo delivery!!!

Had a baby cougar in my driveway year before last...it had big black spots like a cheetah!

I'm gonna use some of these downed limbs for a fence, but wanna go stealth as possible, so no wire fences allowed... I'll be sneaking in some back woods areas that I can walk to...

Hooray! after 24 hrs., no signs of clone wilting!!!! Yippie yay! :D

This is my first trial at cloning, and don't expect much out of Jiffy peat pellets and rooting hormones, gonna have to count on the Moon to scrape by.... I ordered some rockwool starters, but haven't got a delivery yet...

Now that I think of it, never got charged for the last 400 MH/HPS I bought...never saw it on my bank statement...Hmmm....how odd, ordered that in December....

Good to hear from ya'll! Come back and see me again anytime, I'm lonesome out here with dog/cat/plants for company!

the biggest cougar I ever saw, (and I've seen a couple in the wild, plus the stuffed ones) :D, was on Rt. 41, in western Indiana, about 2-3 AM ... damned thing trotted right across the highway, in front of my, and another, semitruck ... the other driver was so shook up by it, he wouldn't admit to seeing it, until I did :D ... oh, one other kind of cougar, too (but, I'm still looking for her) ... :S2:

LolaGal
02-15-2009, 10:56 PM
And the Govt. swears, there are no cougars east of the Mississippi River....

My buddy has some big black panthers (same thing, different color) that drink out of her backyard pond nearly every day...

I've seen some scrapes about 15 feet off the ground that looked like bear claws on tree, but no bears supposed to be here either. It was like big scratch marks way over my head left in the tree... maybe it was a big kitty, but I swear they were bear claw marks!

Another rare cougar sighting...my other buddy was riding a 4 wheeler near my house, saw something coming through the weeds, stopped her vehicle to wait for the deer to cross the road...turns out it was a big cougar. He snarled at her and growled, then went on his way... She has post-traumatic cougar disorder still...haha

If ya'll don't hear from me, then you'll know big kitty ate me...haha.

the image reaper
02-15-2009, 11:00 PM
there's pumas, cougars, mountain lions (different names, same kitty), everywhere in USA, I think ... had an old neighbor from Indiana, said growing up on the Wabash River, lol, cougars were always screwin' with the livestock (well, not really screwin, you know what I mean) :wtf::D

LolaGal
02-15-2009, 11:09 PM
I ain't too far from the Wabash myself!

Another funny thing! All these ornithologists are scouring the swamps for the ivory Billed Woodpecker, and I have been seeing them here all my life! They are rare, but see em once or twice a year...that is what I use for avatar. I emailed Cornell, who's doing the study, and they tell me I don't know what I'm talking about....haha

IR, I'm still dying to get some of those NorCal Daddy's Girl seeds....save me a few please! After reading all the good things about them, wish I had a big crop right now. Miss. Steve had me drooling with his one hit report...never had any weed that was one hit around here...

I seem to be a professional vegger..haha... Flipped my plants, got 2 girls, and now am vegging some more since they are the babies of the whole shebang. My White Rhino is looking good, and the Cali Orange Bud is filling out some. Maybe some smoke by April or May at this rate..

LolaGal
02-16-2009, 05:17 AM
Was watering the crops earlier, and washed out a Widow seed! It was already cracked open, no tap root yet! Doesn't take much to get me in a good mood huh? haha Just glad to know the seed is viable...always a good thing.

I put it back to bed...hoping for some seedlings in the morning...!

Oh, and my clones are still (puff, puff) doing well. I'm really happy they are not wilting...how long till they root?

no word from the zoo yet

So...LolaGal hatches evil plan.....

I emailed back and volunteered to work at Zoo as volunteer....heehee, I'm gonna get some Poo! They just don't know it yet.....

The first friend I'll make will be the Zoo's Pooper Scooper dude...haha

I'll be scrounging for Panther Piss too.....

"Hey Lola, what you putting in that gallon jug? Where's that poo going?" News at 11, Local volunteer fired at Zoo.........

My clones are all nice and perky..... No signs of seed life yet, fingers crossed, I bet they'll pop tonite......

i was checking out information on black panthers (i was just curious). they are a black (melanistic) color variant of one of several large cat species. in the us it's the puma/mountain lion/cougar (genus puma), in latin america it's the jaguar and in rest of the world it's the leopard (both genus panthera).

"melanism in the jaguar is controlled by a dominant allele, in the leopard it's a recessive allele, and there are no authenticated cases of truly melanistic cougars . none have ever been photographed, shot or bread in captivity."

that's not my info, just some stuff that i read.

i'm not saying that's what i believe, pretty interesting though.

should we start getting some bail money together?

I think I'll need bail money if Sheriff John Brown comes calling...lol I'm way over the 4 plant misdemeanor limit.......heehee. They are gonna get me for a bong anyway, so what the heck. Grew me a big set of cojones...lol

If I see the law, gonna run to grow room and start eating clones madly....

So much rare wildlife here, it's awesome... Black kitties included... There's NO trains around me for 50-75 mile radius...sorta cool....I think the wildlife migrate this way cause of the lack of traffic....

You can purchase zoo poo through the Denver Zoo and the Portland Zoo the y sell it as fertilizer in bags at there gift shops at least they both did last summer. I have heard of people using hair to keep animals away from plants they give it away at the local hair cutting place; solved deer problem in Texas new ball field or something getting munched by bambi.

Almost all my White Widows are up and at em. Ice Cool running in second place, followed by NL5H! Fourth place goes to WhiteBerry x PPP, no signs yet of Super Silver Haze, lagging in the rear!

Clones are still putting along, no change in root status yet! None are wilted, and a few with smaller tiny leaves look like the leaves are getting a little bigger! I left a few small fan leaves on most of them.

I'm getting lonesome over here!

All my seeds are up except for one Widow and one NL Haze....got impatient and decided to go in after the NLH with a mister. Water mined seed out and woohoo, it's cracked too! I am so glad, only 10 of those beans, so every one counts! Haven't gone mining for the Widow bean yet....

Checked on my clones this AM, but no roots yet...day 7 I think. At least they are all perky and looking good!

Those widows are trying to stretch on me already & they have a shop lite ONTOP of them! They are some kind of super beans, popped first, and now some are 3 inches tall already.

got a good stand of the Ice Cool, SSH, WBxPP....will post a pic when I catch a fast dialup wave to surf on....rain is the enemy here of dialup...only 24K connection this AM!

Getting some snow here this AM, coming down pretty hard. Thanks for stopping by to visit ya'll!

4th quarter for harvesting.... barren sign good for harvesting....fire sign is best.... Aquarius one of 12 signs of the Moon.

1st quarter good for planting... Fruitful sign means good for planting.

Barren is time when things won't germ or grow well. Bad for planting.

Day 7 Clone Update! I have Roots! It's Alive!

Hey Gang, I'm so happy! My first purebred clone! Checked on the girls etc., a little while ago and guess what! My first roots! Whoopee!

I used those Jiffy pellets, rooting hormone and now have roots busting out the sides of the Jiffy pellet on my first clone!

Can't wait to go to sleep and wake up in the morning. I will run to the clone chamber like a kid on Christmas morning, to check for more roots on more clones. It's like Christmas eve all over here....

Never thought the Jiffy pellets would work so great! All the clones look perky, growing, and sassy! So I am assuming that they have all rooted, just don't have roots outside the Jiffy pellets yet.

I love clones,....they are the best thing I have learned to do so far!

California Orange Bud clones easily!

White Rhino showing roots near the top of the Jiffy pellet, few roots on bottom of Jiffy pellet.....

WeedHound: Yup! Cloning good GREAT!

Went to civilization yesterday, got the mule team out and all....

GREAT DEAL AT WALLY WORLD!: Found in the gardening section, hidden in corner...BAMBOO STAKES, 4 feet long 25 of them for $2.50!!! Don't know if this is seasonal or not, but just what I was looking for! They are all dyed a nice bright hideous green as well....Pretty pretty. They only had a few bags of them, so go to WalMart and get some QUICK!

Also got some more Jiffy pellets, pots, seedling soil.... As usual went to 3 major stores and NO dirt other than that stupid Miracle Grow Dirt....dagnabbit....... Guess it's Nashville if I want to get Fox Farm Soil.

I can only find Miracle Gro also:( ! I read a thread months ago that MG bought or merged with FF??? Any truth to it? r we in trouble?

Nice pics. On my way to the gro meeting I'll check out the bamboo. Spring stuff is just on the shelves last week, as the hearts went out. I am guessing you were lucky and got a batch left over from last year (due to your remote location), I saw none in stock last week, will check it though!

How does this figure in your book---yesterday the rain melted almost all the snow left. When does the 'harvest moon' stop and I will plant. Even if they are clones- do you have to figure in the day you cut clone for planting?

Thanks for all the info! pr :greenthumb:

hey, thanks for reading my mind, I post and the answer was there before I wrote it.

LolaGal

PR...look around the gardening section for any kind of stakes. They had a bunch of metal ones, and hidden in the back were 6 or 8 packs of the bamboo stakes. Would've gotten more if only I had known how cheap they were! I'm thinking that they were new for spring, dunno!

I use good planting dates as good cloning dates. I prefer 3rd quarter/fruitful sign, due to rooting benefits. I'm gonna try this 1st quarter for cloning to see if it makes any difference in rooting times.

PR: did ya find any bamboo stakes?

I've been on a wild cloning spree. Put up some more White Rhino clones last night, guess there's just no more I can do today.

Thinking about starting on a separate bloom area project, so I can keep up a perpetual harvest.

My grow area is about 10 feet wide by 15 feeet long with 8 foot ceilings. I have a window right in the middle of the 10 feet wide wall. Any suggestions on how to split up the area best? There is lots of available venting in both 15 foot walls, so window is not the only vent source.

Of course without air cconditioning, won't be able to use it in the summer, but will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Threw in a fan leaf to clone with the rest, and SHOCK, it's rooted! What will happen to it next?

Aloha Loco,

Plain old tap water should do.
No nutes for seedlings.
Probably wasted on clones, so, no.
And warm water works mo' betta than cold to expand the pellets.

Jiffy Pot brand are made of peat, too acidic for MJ ... yes, your plant may not die, yadayada, but I recommend RapidRooters over the Jiffy products ... 'Rooters are made of compressed bark, and neutral pH (your seedlings will thank you) ... :smokin:

Call up my fave hydro people & got a great deal!

2 400 watt HPS/MH ballasts with cords...$50 each, new!
2 Reflectors with cords $20 each!

Could not resist, had to have em at those prices!

Hi Weeze, Hi IR, glad to see ya!

I only had Jiffy pellets, so that is what I used, needed to starts some clones! I did get some rockwool starters, but ain't used em yet.

I've just been using pH adjusted water only on the clones.

My seedlings are in some seedling starter mix and Perlite. I was out of plastic cups, so I used some leftover 3 inch peat pots.

I agree IR, don't like to use the peat pots, they dry out also!

Jiffy pellets for clones works GREAT for me for the price and easy to obtain out here in the sticks. Would like to try the Rapid Rooters one day.

For now, I was just shocked at the Jiffy pellets for clones. I expected they would all die, but they are 100% alive and rooting.

I've been potting at least 2 a day as the Rhinos finish rooting. I used some tiny clones to start the first time I tried it. So Rhinos are tiny clones! Some under one and two inches..!!

All my buddies will be getting some free clones this year! LOL.

Hey Ya'll, things seem kind of ghost town like in this thread!

Hmmm. Need to update.

My big news is the lights I got really meant I had a lot of work to do. I built a bloom room about 10x12 and use 3 400s to light that.

I tore out the veg and moved them into the other side, using the 4th 400 to light that area.

My little stick of a California Orange bud is now budding! Yes, finally I have buds. Not a lot yet, haven't had the bloom room going long. I got to make one run before it gets hot here.

Also made a lot of White Rhino clones to put outside to wait for fall.

My current bloom includes White Widow, White Rhino, Cali O, WhiteBerry x PP, and Ice Cool. I am in about day 8 or so of bloom, so not much yet.

Don't be strangers!

That TOTALLY sound familiar, lol. Everyone just wants to try; it's supposed to grow itself. Now look at you....welcome! :D

Hey there Lolagal, got the stakes and you got a steal, just like on your lights!! I went several weeks ago, asap after reading this. About a buck each. The plastic, re-useable ones weren't much more. I think a nursery might be cheaper. Bought a bamboo plant too--grow my own-they grow like weeds! lol.. So do the weeds on um!!

When you put your clones outside, about how long do you wait from the lights to outside- to adjust to the Sun. Do you have any procedure to acclimate them to the sun, so they don't burn? I have freezing temps and holding one for a clone before flower, but don't want a 6 wk plant going from inside to direct sunlight? Saw someone that did that last year.

Was kind of thinking to put under a pine tree (small), to filter the light gradually??? Then I could start now and plant outside mid-May or so. Same with my beans. Never been so anxious for planting!

Sorry, been too busy to drop in much and say to much when I do! PR

leave your clones in the container, and place them in the shade of your pine tree, like you suggested ... I would keep them shaded for 2-3 days, then gradually adjust to more exposure, according to how they look ... my NCDG thrived in shade, while others I've moved outside, were ready for full sun, almost immediately ...

hey gang! Tomorrow is a Great Planting Day!

Keep coming by and never any posts, except for my faithful friend Headshake!

I've been doing the Moon Garden over at ICMag, since this site has been sorta deserted. Been missing you guys, but never seem to find anybody hanging out.

Got some big fat buds of the Cali Orange and White Rhino. Cloned a bunch of clones, so that was fun. I have tried Rockwool clones and peat puck/pellet clones and I have had lots more luck with the jiffy pellets.

I'm only in week 6 of my bloom! Those plants vegged from November! Finally got some nice resin and I love that Cali O smell!

I built a nice 12 x 10 bloom chamber and am rocking 4 400 watters. Soon will have a little fruit of my labors and am looking forward to that.

My WhiteBerry/Power Plants are blooming well. My Ice Cool is budding and so are my Widows.

I will post some pics of the buds when I cut em down!

From Wikipedia (and this is accurate):

Barrel lengths of less than 18 inches (46 cm) as measured from the breechface to the muzzle when the weapon is in battery with its action closed and ready to fire, or have an overall length of less than 26 inches (66 cm) are classified as short barreled shotguns ("sawn-off shotguns") under the 1934 National Firearms Act and are heavily regulated.

Doesn't matter when it was purchased or manufactured. If it's a shorty, you need a $200 tax stamp (which involves the typical red tape) or a replacement barrel of legal length. ATF has no sense of humor. Not naggin' ya, but they have really screwed with some folks over half an inch of bbl. Not worth the risk, IMO.

Okay, here's yer thread back. Sorry to butt in. :)

Hey there Dutch, lemme see what I can do about that...haha.. See ya Saturday...

Rock: Bad boy.. bad boy... Last time I tried to email you I was told I was on the rejected list of people who were annoying you... What's Up?

On cloning: I just cut the bottom of the stem at a 45 degree angle, then I take a razor blade and scrape the bottom part of the stem a little. Dip em in some rooting hormone and stick em in a nice fluffy peat pellet.

Put em in a plastic tote with a lid, mist em daily if needed and make sure they are warm and get some light. shop lite will do.

They will clone in a week to 10 days. I have tried rockwool, but don't like it very much.

White Widows clone easily. Just put out some clones outdoors today thatwere cut 4/11. They were about 1 foot to 14 inches tall. Hope they do alright outdoors ???

IR: Put out a NCDG second generation gal in the great outdoors too. We shall see how it turns out. She was a little runty.

Lola, you may want to move the outdoor NCDG into a shady area, being an indoor strain, the outdoor sun is likely to be too much ... however, I had a couple in a shaded area, that only got direct sunlight about 2 hours /day, and they thrived ... good luck, let us know how it works for ya ... good growing :smokin:

LolaGal

I stuck her in a shady spot IR, thanks... Thanks, that was lucky huh? :D

I started her 2/14 but she never got very big, transplanted to better dirt she liked that better.

Only 8 inches or less when transplanted...

She's living on a nice shady creek bank, maybe she will like it there.

I'm trying some indoor strains outdoors this year, if anybody has any input, it's welcome.

WW, WR, NLHaze, Cali O, WB/PP, Ice Cool, and GH SSH (that one's gonna be big, won't bloom indoors???just gets bigger and bigger after 7 weeks in bloom!!!!)

Well chiggers are these tiny tiny little red bugs, mites actually I think. They are so tiny it is hard to even see them.

They get on you and puke up their little guts on your skin. Then they slurp up the digested flesh and have dinner.

This leaves a red bump on you that itches like crazy.

You can wash them off in the shower and the are gone till you go back in the weeds again and get new ones.

OFF! and sprays work pretty good, but 5 or 6 always seem to get through and get me. Same for the ticks. Always a few are so hungry the bug spray don't deter em....

I dread going back out there.... My babies are on their own for now... haha

I dunno Weedy, sounds like a Horsefly egg laid in a dog and it just sorta grows in there. That's the closest I ever saw.... To cure this maggot infestation, put some turpentine on a cotton ball, and place over site. wrap with bandage, take off carefully next morning and the "wolf" will be dead and stick to the bandage and come out.

Will come visit soon :D

Hi Sarah Louise!!!!! Long time no see!
Hi Lola, I've been too stoned to post much since the end of February, when I harvested the first in a long line of Sensi Skunk clones

Currently, clones number 9 and 10 have about another 35 days to flower and 11, 12, 13 and 14 have 60 days. They'll be the smallest buds of the year, but heck they'll be flowering through the coldest months on natural light, smaller buds are to be expected.

I've got some sativa dom, fem seedlings started inside, searching out the right phenos for next springs outdoor plot and some affie x rud indica. Another couple of nodes and I'll know if the auto flowering trait was passed on or not.

The rest of the winter and the early spring is already planned out. Clones in July, currently chilling in the fridge, and germinate a few Sensi skunk#1 come August. I'm looking for a new skunk mother, this one has been a good performer but I'm not happy with the taste.

And of course my favorite affie, Eloise, is revegging for a run of clones to flower in the spring.... after that I think she's retiring. The spidermites infest her something shocking in the hot weather.

Otherwise it's pretty quiet around these parts.

Hope your garden is growing well :hippy:

LolaGal
06-15-2009, 04:35 PM
Weezard told me about a sure fire way to get rid of those spidermites SL, and it works!

Put it in a trash can and invert another trash can on top.

Put one of those Shell No pest strips in there over night... gone.

repeat in 5 days to get any that hatched out and escaped...

works real good!

Sounds like all is well with you.

I'm enjoying my first cured buds here too. My first decent indoor genetics!

Yippie... I'm hooked.. gonna grow till I die now...

Currently about to harvest some Sweet Seeds Ice Cool. It is a rank Christmas tree, cat piss smell, coats your tongue and mouth with diesel fumes... yummy.

I'll post some pics when I hitch up to a fast dialup wave! Tune In!
