hey

it should be showing you something right now... usually shows after 1 week... look closely you should either see lil pistils or balls... females usually take longer to show than males.. so i guess its a good sign?

good luck!

thankyou mate
i thought they should've been showing something now,,but nothing.
they are meant to be feminized seeds so fingers crossed they will be.
it did look like they had little stems next to the leaf nodes,,but they turned out to be more leaves or new shoots,,not sure yet.
thanx again

hi again
gonna drop my lighting to 10 hours on 14 off,see how it goes.
a friend of mine said that a good sign was if the leaf nodes are swollen and mine are like the bowl you get from blown glass,,,lol

From the research I've done it seems best to put them in a 24-36hr dark period before turning the lights on for flowering. It makes them show their sex in as early as 2 days into 12/12. Supposably the dark makes them think their dieing and they create pollen or flower depending on their sex, and its suppose to make the transition into flowering easier on them. Also, when the nodes are alternating instead of non alternating it shows the plant is maturing.

My plants are from seeds produced by the last plants I grew.
One plant showed its sex after just 3 weeks of vegging under 18/6 light, while the other plant waited a couple extra weeks.
Neither plant had alternating nodes at the time of showing... So I guess that is dependent on the individual.

Those 2 hairlike growths on the main stem at each node are called "stipules". It is from behind these that your pre-flower sex indicators will pop out.

Just keep an eye on the stipules at the nodes near the top of the plant... They should be showing you what's what any time now :)

Hope ya get some girls!

hey dude, how old were they when you flipped to 12\12?
if they're not mature enough to reproduce, they will take
forever to show sex and, i believe they will be more likely
to be hermies.

put some pics up so the experts (lol, not me) can see what
you're talking about.

they were only about 3 weeks old when i flipped them over,,but i always do them at this age and they usually show quicker than these one's.

i've never had plants ready to flower in just 3 weeks from seed.

if you don't have alternating nodes, it's not sexually mature and
so, not mature enough to flower.

i'm no expert though, maybe we can get Stinky to share her knowledge,
or one of the other experts.

Like others said, they should be showing any day now. Some strains just take longer than others.

As for the question of when to flip the lights, it seems to be mostly a matter of preference. Some like to wait until the plant is showing sex on it's own, or until they see alternating nodes. Other's (like me) make the decission based on size. If you're growing something like White Widow that tends to get rather large if left to it's own devices, then you should flip the lights when the plant's about 1/3 of the finished size you want. Even if they're not quite ready to flower they'll still start in on their pre-flower growth spurt.

FWIW there are some growers that run 12/12 from day 1. As far as I can tell there's not really any ill effects, which makes me wonder if it really matters that much lol.

i've also heard of people flower from seed to show the sex quicker and when they find the young ladies,,they stick 'em back into veg.
lets hope i get more ladies,,but i think i have found a boy too,,not sure yet though.

Sounds like they weren't feminized seeds. LOL 4 is twice what I have so to me you're lookin pretty good  But seriously, try 24-36hrs of darkness before you go 12/12. My small plant showed female 3 days into flower and the big female showed at 9 days. It's suppose to help them ease into flowering at a young age. I'm so happy theres an easy cloning system(DWC) so I don't have to worry about males. It's going to make things almost too easy :D

i,ve ended up with 5 females out of 9 feminized,,but i wont complain cos they were only £10 for 20 seeds and as i bought 3 packs of them,,i got another 20 for free.
happy days :)
