Well guys I am going to try to post all about my 1st grow. I have never tryied to grow anything so any info along the way would help. So feel free to let me know what I am doing right, wrong, or something that might work better.

Ok so I got 2 seeds in a bag of good stuff. Never had any seeds in anything on the high end in my bags. So I found this site and got allot of info.

1st I soaked the seeds in warm tap water for about 16hours. I saw they had poped open so I took them out of the water and placed them in a warm wet paper towel in a small plate (sorry forgot to take pictures). Then the next day I was they had a small root coming out. I thn put them in peat palets. I think I should have waited alittle longer but everthing looks good.

I came home monday and both where coming up and looking ok. Today I came home and saw a small problem. The membrain from the seed was keeping them from opening. So I went and got tweesers and took it off both. Went back 10 min later and both where opening. Is this a common problem?

Right now I am running 2 26 watt CFL's daylight 1600L each at 6500Kabout
2" from the top of seedlings. The tap root is coming out of the bottom of the peat palet. Does that mean it's time to go to a seed starting soil in a small pot or should I wait a few days still?

The pictures are form today DAY 5 (from seed)

nice work bigworm,

exactly right with the tweezers and the seed shell. and yes its common:thumbsup:

put them in the pots NOW...dont mean to yell, but seriously pot them now. the tap root may not form correctly when not allowed to grow down 5"+. if you use seed starter you must transplant in about a week or so due to the massive root growth they will have (from experience). also get perilite at grow depot and mix in 30% of it versus youre soil. this is for drainage and its very important for the roots to get oxygen between feedings.

good luck

edit:lol...double post and BTW:

The tap root is coming out of the bottom of the peat palet.
hmmmmmm.....WT u see that lol

Ok going to do that right now. Plan 2 the tap root is already going sideways. I cut the mesh off to cuz I read that it can hamper the growth of the roots. The starter soil has perlite in it do I need to add more? Also show I keep the soil real loose or pack it down some then water?

check soil by eye, if there isnt more than 20% you need more. if you dont have it now, it should be ok as youll have to transplant before too long(roots).

LOOSE. fill the cup up to where the bottom of the root area would be to make the top of the root area just below the rim...follow?. then fill in around the plants with more soil, again loosely. and water with about a small dixie cup's amount of water around around the seedling after planting.

Thanks for the help bro going to do that right now. Oh should I go ahead and put all 4 26 watt light on now. I have more but going to get another set up tomorrow. That way I have 3 26watt 1600l 6500k bulbs and 1 1600l 5000k full spectrum CFL's on each plant. I was thinking they need that much light yet but not sure.

I took the pictures before work. I think I might have alittle problem. I went out of town friday night and came back sunday afternoon. I watered the night before I left. When I came back I saw that it was dry. Plants looked good just alittle curling up on the sides. I watered them and they are still growing just still have the curling up of the 1st few leafs. Looks to be alittle more then at 1st. I think one problem is I mixed my tap water to 6.0. Is that right for water for soil? I read some where that it should be 6.8-7.0 for soil. I have yet to add any nutes or anything but water. Anyone got any info on this that might help.

Other then that I just added2 more cfl's. That makes 3-26W @ 6500K lights and and 1-26W full spectrum 5000K light. Is that good for now?

Your soil looks real wet. Those pots with built in catch trays are TROUBLE. Get teh trays off and rinse them out if there is any much in them, and then prop the pots back on top of them but up in such a way that drainage is not impeded.

Your right stinky I just watered them that night. I don't let any water in the catch tray should I still take the tray out? I looked for the cheaper ones but they where out. I did get the cheap black ones in the 3gal for my next repot.

She's spot on dude. I didnt look at the soil, thats why we have stinky around! She catches everything:hippy:
I learned the hard way about those pots too.If they are the wally world ones, you can pop the catch trays off the pot with a flathead. Then ya may wanna drill some holes in the bottoms as well.Trust, I learned that one the hard way, lol.:pimp:

They just come off and have holes in the very bottom. I took off the bottoms and turned them over. I am going to cut a few holes in the side to help air flow and drainage. Thanks for the info Stinky and stealth.

Gave the little ones some water today. Took a PH test of the rumoff. It was way low around 5.0. Do I just bring the water ph up 2 points? It is 7.0 when I watered. So that would bring the water up to 9.0. Does this sound right. Also do I need to flush 1st?

bigworm1922
10-25-2008, 11:51 PM
Here are a few pictures just now. Any idea of what strain this might be?

There is alittle yellowing around the bottom leafs. Also alittle droping of the leafs. The run off was low around 5.0 so I tried to flush them. I couldn't get it the run off over 6.3 or so. I am going to go to the Hydro shop tomorrow and get a good soil to replant them in 1gal pots. I am also planning to start nutes soon. I have only added 1 drop of ST so far.

I found something kinda intresting. Looks like they are showing sex already. That didn't seem right. I tought it would take aleast a few more weeks. From what I have read and seen on the forum looks to be 2 females. Look at the pictures and see if im right.

How long until I can try taking some clones? Sorry I know some of the questions are asked all the time but I will learn from the info you give me and won't ask again.

Your right wasn't signs just me looking to much LOL.

Well I transplanted them a few days ago. Slowed them down a big but I see them groing again today so thats good. Also I took off the bottom 2 leaves on both. They turned yellow and tips started to brown. Looking better now. I will post pictures tomorrow. I will be going out of town on Friday to FLvsGA . I have to make sure to water and I will also move the light up a bit so to not dry them out. Should be back early Sunday I hope. Don't want to Miss my Bears beat the Lions again.

A side note I just sent an order to SB and hope I get them soon so I can start a few more so if they are both males.

well went out of town and the day I left I saw some small spots of yellowing and some small brow spots. I came back and it got bigger. It was one on one plant and only on one set of leafs. Any idea what this could be from? On a side not I have seen some better growth over the last few days. I think from the veg mix I gave them last week.

I am a noobie as well so please double check what I am saying, but from what I have read the brown spots could be too much nutes. Also most posts I have read people say they top or FIM at around the 4th or 5th node. Happy Growing :rastasmoke:

Hey thanks for checking in. I was thinking maybe nutes but I would think both plants would get it if it was that. I might bw wrong. Hope someone can help.

I read the same thing about FIMing and I think I am at 5 and the 6th just started.

Could be you dripped ferts on the leaves when watering?

That would be my guess. I am far from expert. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Nice job so far. Keep up the good work.

Well I will be at 2 months veg soon. Both plants are now showing sex. Looks like 1 male 1 female. I tried to get pictures but I guess I just can't get the picture to come out rite. So is it normal to have a plant show sex before flowering? They are bag seed so maybe they are auto flowering? I was kinda hoping for a male and a female. That way I can make some seeds. I went and picked up a 150w HPS. I know it's not what I will need later but got it for a good price and will work for a few plants. I am also ordering a grow tent then I will up the light.

I can add some pictures but wasn't getting many post so I havn't updated as much.

Worm, You only want the female.
And yes they will show signs of sex prior to flowering.

If you get a pic, someone will sex them for you.

Good luck

Hey didn't see you posted popabean. I wanted a male and female so I could get some seeds on the lower part of the femal. I only had 2 seeds from a bag that was a good smoke. So I think it took good. I should get 10 seeds or so on the lower from the looks of it. I will cut the top colas off and let the bottoms get nice before I chop them I am guessing that I have about 2-3 weeks or so left. I had to tie the 4 colas to a rod to keep them up. I picked up a 1000W HPS today for $100. It is in real good shape was a great deal. So hope with the 1000w + 150W in the 4x4 tent I will take some time off the flowering and get better bud.

I uploaded a few pictures. The tent now has 6 clones of the large plant, and 3 other plants from online seeds.

Well today I popped the seeds on the lower branch I polinated today. Seeds looked real good. Made sure I let them cook as long as they needed. Got about 20. The plan has been in flower for about 2 months. I am still not showing as much THC as I thought. My fingers where sticky after getting the seeds. Is it common to not see THC much on the leafs? Still new and not really sure.

I also don't know what strain it is cuz it was bagseed. Anyone have an idea if this looks like a sativa? I was thinking I would be close now but having a hard time keeping still with the micro scope (60x-100x) to tell for sure. Also would it help if I went ahead and took off the lower branches? They arn't going to give me much at this point but not sure if it would just stress the plant and slow it down.

I took 8 clones today from a B-52. and will start a log when I know that they work out. The mother was in the flower room for about 1 1/2-2 weeks.

Ok well don't know if anyone is watching this log. I know it wasn't much of a log. I learned allot on this 1st grow. I only took the top of the plant. I didn't know to take all the under branches off. So I cut the top 2ft of so off all 4 colas. I have them hanging up now to dry. Here are the pictures of the 4 tops.
